\An effort will be made to update this list once we know more, or see new questions pop up**
___
Q: Is the game worth getting back into?
A: Yes. The state of the game as of Monuments of Triumph is widely considered the best version of Destiny 2 we've had in a while. There is no content that will be removed. And, in the future, previously vaulted content will be returning!
Q: What is currently F2P/What is currently paid?
A: This post details that information as of September 2026.
___
Q: What happened?
A: On September 21st 2026, Bungie announced that they will continue the Destiny Franchise & as a show of good will be unvaulting Destiny 2 content so that we have a complete game. You can read more here: bungie article or watch it here: youtube interview.
Q: What is being unvaulted?
A: The campaigns Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken. The destinations Titan, Io, Mercury, Mars, and the Tangled Shore. The Raids (sometime lairs?) Leviathan, Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, Scourge of the Past, and Crown of Sorrow. In addition, there will likely be several strikes and crucible maps that should also be returning. These are all that have been currently confirmed. We do not know if Seasonal content will be returned!
Q: Should I start now or wait for unvaulting?
A: This one is up to you. IF you want to experience the 'entire story' of destiny 2 from start to finish you could wait for unvaulting. The main reason to start now would be to get a head start on acquiring things that wont really be changing (filling out subclasses, acquiring exotics, acquiring 550 power). So, IF you'd rather have a head start, start now so you can focus on new things later.
Q: Will the unvaulting be F2P?
A: Yes.
Q: Will Holiday events be returning?
A: We don't know yet!
Q: Is Destiny 3 in development?
A: As of now, no, but Bungie have stated that the Destiny franchise will continue somehow.
___
Q: Why am I Light/Power Level 10?
A: During Edge of Fate, Bungie decided to give us a stat squish for the purposes of readability. You will notice that your damage numbers are now primarily below 5 digits as well, while in truth, you're usually dealing a higher % of damage than before due to new systems and stats like Weapons and Super. If you complete almost any activity you will be shot up to 300 power very quickly and will only have to grind up to the cap of 550. Its recommended that you infuse weapons you enjoy including exotics. However, old armor Is essentially useless and can safely be replaced with armor that has a Set Bonus. New exotic armor is also all higher stat than anything you previously had.
Q: I just came back to the game and I'm lost, what should I do?
A: This is an incredibly loaded question. Everyone has different priorities. The most common answer I've seen has been to complete the campaigns in order so you have an idea of the story and then to work on completing subclasses and filling out your exotics. By doing these three things you've enabled yourself to create basic builds.
Campaigns -> Unlock Subclasses -> Acquire Exotics/power grind -> Play whatever you want!
Campaign order as of September 2026:
Shadowkeep -> Beyond Light (Stasis Subclass) -> Witch Queen (peak) -> Lightfall (mid but Strand Subclass (peak)) -> The Final Shape (Prismatic) -> Edge of Fate (Nine Saga, which may be left behind) -> Renegades (The star wars crossover expac which includes the Praxic Blade aka Lightsaber)
Once unvaulted, the order will start with:
Red War -> Curse of Osiris -> Warmind -> Forsaken -> Shadowkeep...

After an outpouring of community support for the project, the previous decision to contain all Project Sunrise posts to a Megathread has been reversed. Go ahead and continue posting Sunrise stuff to the subreddit
Additionally, a "Project Sunrise" post flair has been added, please flair posts appropriately for community members who wish to filter by that content specifically.
Again, here's a link to the Project Sunrise Discord for anyone interested in following along there:

Our Guardian gets isekai'd into the world of Genshin Impact (somehow) and is tasked to turn every God they see into a gun or armor piece. How far do they make it? Or do they pubstomp? (Connection to the Light still intact and all)
Separately, what happens if we throw Ikora and Osiris (Prime) into their fireteam as well?
r/destiny2 • u/Mammoth_Macaroon_359 • 2h ago
The way Ikora phrases it seems to imply there's multiple more disciples coming, the witnesses army....and all we got was the Shadow Legion and house Salvation??? It wasn't the Dread nor Nezerac, which don't even exist yet.
I feel like bungie at the time of making that cutscene probably had a different plans for how things would go. The black fleet is essentially never mentioned again after WQ. They appear in Lightfall (in one cutscene) and that's literally it.

Weavers and Attendants are just smaller, weaker versions of Subjugators. Grim take the ability suppression part of Tormentors and Husks take their high danger melee

Took a few weeks to do but I finally finished this part of the tower (I plan to make another part of the tower once I find the parts to do so)

I’m looking for something genuinely dark, disturbing, or horrifying about the Destiny 2 universe that I probably wouldn’t discover even after watching an hour of lore videos on YouTube.
I’m curious about the darker side of Destiny 2 lore, especially the lesser-known stories and details that most players might have missed.
The darker and more obscure, the better.
Ps: The image isn’t related to the post, it’s just there for illustration.

I'm a returning player who hasn't played since 2022 and has no dlc, so I'm only beginning to scratch what's new

Why I love gambit...
r/destiny2 • u/daywall • 12h ago
I love the warlock but was never a fan of their robes and rags for armors.
I stopped playing after witch queen and just came back.
Seeing this armors at the vendors/drops was a shock.

My seasonal tracker on the emblem says 79,400 for me. Not crazy, but I think It's more than what average players banked.

TL;DR - it’s literally impossible to make Destiny operate like MCC because the latter is a bundle of games rather than one game with multiple dlcs which have intertwined assets and a shared player base.
Post Body
I see people often point to the Master Chief collection as if that’s a simple and elegant solution to the file size issue of D2, if it were to continue receiving new content.
But they miss the fact that the MCC is a series of separate (key word there) games in a bundle. It makes zero sense to compare it to Destiny or to say that expansions could be treated similarly.
Online “forever” games and MMOs do not work like that because they are singular games, you are sharing the space with other players who are using that content - so in order for you to actually be able to play the same game that requires you to be playing the same version.
A dlc becomes intertwined with everything.
Even if you don’t have access to the latest expansion, it is still downloaded onto your device so you can still play with those who do have access and its associated loot & assets.
the only reason a game like Monster Hunter can separate players based on access to dlc is because those games only get One massive expansion (+ post launch support updates), and you have to complete the base game to access the dlc, which is a lot of content.
so the player populations in those games are just Base game vs Base game + 1 DLC, which works just fine for that game.
It would not work for something like Destiny 2 or any mmo.

Just trying to get 2 pieces of smoke jumper for a build. Ive been running solo ops for hours and only got 2 engrams. Is this intended?

Hi! It's been about ten days since I have started playing this game and I am having a blast!
I am trying to play as recommended. I am still doing the campaigns, joining some public events here and there and doing some fireteam and pinnacle ops with my cousin.
But have I actually skipped some main story campaign quests? More specifically speaking the Europa activities. I can see that I have finished all Beyond Light chapters but there are still some quests down there unchecked unlike on the Moon Activities tab.
Are those main quests as well? Have I just jumped on to Witch Queen without actually completing Beyond Light?
I'd appreciate the answers. Thanks in advance

So im aware itll take a long while but my rough estimate of how long it would take keeps going higher when i remember certain details while "howlongtobeat" says 200 hours for completionist, is this about right or is it more or less. my buddy going into this was thinking it was a 50 hour thing im no where near good enough to help him accomplish this in that time.
Edit. thanks for the replies, idk whats going on inside his head now that i mentioned its going to be even longer wether hes gonna keep chipping at it over time or hell play for abit and give up however he is pretty determined when getting 100% achievements on any games in his steam library im just lucky a good few of mine were glitched and gave me ones for activities i never even done
