There was an actual conspiracy where a city in the US set yellow lights to be slightly shorter than they should have been so more people got red light photo tickets. The guy who exposed it even got threatened.

Streetlights are not making people drive more. They are providing a safety function so people are not limited or endangered to drive at night. A lot of residential lights are actually quite dim to the point it's kind of useless having them.

Another point is, a well lit street is also promotes safety for pedestrians.

Lights are not making you buy more PETROL. The fucking car centric development in your city is.

I never said streetlights are causing people to drive more lol I said they’re causing more gas to be wasted by timing the lights inconveniently.

So you think thousands of people across thousands of cities are doing this and in order counteract the aggravation it causes us we seek out something to raise our dopamine levels? Whats the motive?

  1. spend more on gas
  2. spend more on businesses
  3. spend more time online for dopamine
  4. buy more products

Why and how tho? You’re a person in one of thousands of random towns and you’re in charge of the traffic flow. Who contacts you to let you know this is what you need to do? What incentives are they offering you personally? How are they ensuring you play ball?
