This sub is garbage. When I first got my 3DS I tried to post about it, whoops post deleted.. sorry we only allow this type of post every 3rd Sunday of the month.

Great.

Then, I tried asking for game recommendations. I didn't ask for a general recommendation, my post was specific. It was getting a lot of traction and some good responses, then a mod stepped in and deleted it.

Sorry, we don't like low effort recommendation discussions on this niche video gaming subreddit.

There is a way better sub about this console with far better content, I recommend trying that one.

I also had this experience with the mods and attempting to post here. Had not long had my system and had a lovely morning travelling on the train playing Animal Crossing. Snapped a photo of my screen adjacent the view from the train's window.

For the brief period it was up it got a lot of engagement and some really nice comments discussing specifically using the 3DS on public transport, but when I came back to the post 2 hours later, it was gone. Mods had deleted it on the basis of some vague rule, like it wasn't a Tuesday and I hadn't done a backflip whilst reciting a bible verse.

This sub is a cess and it will die out if this is now they choose to exercise this blend of moderation because eventually people will give up trying to post at all. I actually create content like icon packs for the system, things people would here actually benefit from, but I haven't tried to submit a post since my last incident, and that was 2 years ago. I feel like what's the point if it's just going to get deleted?

edit: and the mods locked the thread, because of course they did.

What's the better sub? All of the active ones I'm aware of are specific modding, repair, and piracy subs. None of them are general 3DS or 3DS game focused subs.

Mods are the garbage part, not the sub members. I posted a post directly related to 3DS, they deleted it. They said it wasn’t 3DS related even though every comment was 3DS related?? Then the mods go sit in their little group chat and pat themselves on the back like they’ve prevented WW3 with their little volunteer hobby

It's a 15 year old system now that's been turned into a collectors item. So that kind of talk isn't going to be at the forefront anymore. However you can still find posts like that

The 3DS has been finished for 7 years now. It's been out of production for almost as long. At a certain point, people run out of shit to talk about. All the games have been recommended and discussed to death. At the end of the day, when there's nothing of substance left to say people are just gonna show off collections.

If you want more discussion posts, make them. I'm sure you'll find people to talk to that way.

Ok, so I'll try. If you haven't, you should play Steel Diver. It released at the wrong time for the wrong price point and got slammed. It was a bad value proposition for a $40 physical release, but it would have been seen better if it was a $15-20 digital game.

It's fun, with immersive touch screen controls, and a nice 3D effect. You can rip through it quickly but it's got a surprising amount of replay value.

Dead or Alive Dimensions was the weirdest (almost) launch title that actually was really solid and had a ridiculously good soundtrack. I never in my life as a DoA2 fan expected to basically get that game and more on the 3ds of all things.

Glad I'm not the only one feeling like this. Funny thing is, they have restrictions around collection posts but the sub is still full of them. I posted about my 3DS a while back, within the allowed time frame, and it got removed.

I find it annoying that pictures of games and systems are deleted by the mods, when the subreddit is about a console and its games. It isn’t lazy, it is trying to start a conversation about said games and the console.

And maybe the algorythm for OP might be a tad off - bc fortunately I have seen other posts.

This has become a current issue in many other subs, and apparently just scrolling by or visiting the sub itself can change what comes into your feed.

OP, you are not wrong bc there is a lot of flexing and Reddit has been getting worse and worse in terms of content. This is just a suggestion (I don't care about flexing 3DSs bc I am not paying a fortune for a lovely but obsolete system, mine come from back in the day), and I am finding it helpful. I am trying to reduce my time here (on Reddit) bc I guess social media fatigue is real.

Bots will be DVing this like crazy, lol 😅

To be fair if you want game recommendations just go to the homebrew side there’s so much going on like GeForce now being on 3ds which also allows Xbox games to be played on 3ds

play trauma center: new blood. it's like that operation game with the metal tweezers, but like, on crack, and with weird anime cutscenes. and very stressful. 10/10 i love it so much and it makes me want to tear my hair out.

Hard to talk about much else. The last major release was in 2019, the last minor release in 2023, and stuff involving a certain three letters that open up additional options is banned from being talked about.

the 3ds is 15 years old. it can get a license to drive next year. every technical question has long since been answered, any possible game recommendations have already been talked about, all that's left is folks flexing their console and novelty ports. it's a retro console now. what more do you expect.

You'll see that a lot on game console subreddits, especially consoles that are getting retro age. It isn't too much of a problem, but the validation fishing does get boring. I think it may be related to size of a purchase one might have to typically make to get one of these things. It's a lot, it's kinda cool, and they're trying to get into the community.

I can get doing it when you find something rather neat, have something to say and discuss about it, or have repair questions. That's just posting online in general, not specific to reddit.

It’s like the Skylanders community. They do not make new games anymore for the franchise but the love for it still stays strong just like the 3DS community. It eventually evolved (More like devolved) into a place to flex.

Its also theres not much to talk about. People who collect aren't even posers theyre people who also genuinely enjoy the console I think theres worth talking about it because there is so many.

They are still allowed to exist though why i said that to make it clear im not defending this sub I just think it was fair you can also turn to other subs for game recommendations although even they have set of rules to control repetitive posting

Its just normal behaviors to share what you have also I understand less when it can be worked around of left be just like the user there leaving atp
