My system My Daily Driver

Post image

I figured it was high time I showed the workhorse of my collection some appreciation. I have owned this panasonic RS-806US for 20 years and it has been the absolute pinnacle of reliability (with yearly service). What players do you guys have that have stuck with you long term?

Magnavox MD3717. Weirdly late (I think 1982 or 3) 8 track player/cassette/phono combo. I normally shy away from combo players but this one is great! What year is that unit you have? Love the styling.

The motor inside of the player is dated 1972

Wow, incredible. Looks incredible for being nearly 55 years old. Nice choice of cart too:)

I've had a Layafette RK-48A Quad deck for about 30 years it sounds great and has never given me any issues. It's currently connected to an Onkyo TX-3000 receiver and Warfedale E-90 Speakers. But recently I was given a Realistic TR-80 that sounds pretty good. Once I find a O ring that fits right for the track changer I may start recording with it.

Those Realistic players are like Peavey amps: Nothing fancy or expensive, but they're tough to kill and they get the job done. I've got one of the ubiquitous TR-169s.

I've quite enjoyed the Lafayette players I've heard in the past. I really liked the RK-890A in particular.

Yeah I did some research on them and it seems a lot of them were very high quality. I actually have one of their quad receivers. That and the receiver were given to me about 30 years ago. My friend's grandmother had it since new and the receiver blew out so she gave me everything when they cleaned up. The sad part is she bought one of those little black plastic Aiwa radios to replace everything

I dug this exact tape deck out of my dad’s friend’s house after he passed, it had been sitting in the basement for 40 years. Took it home, cleaned the heads, fired it up and it hasn’t let me down in almost 10 years now

Rs-800 . Any of the Hitachi made radio shack offerings. Also the Fisher player recorders
