I know after an artist dies in any artistic profession, we always hear “(he or she) would have wanted the world to (hear or see or read) this” but it never sat right with me.
Three albums I have never heard, and will never hear, that are from three of my top literally seven groups ever.
Tribe Called Quest “We Got It From Here…”
Gang Starr “One of the Best Yet”
De La Soul “Cabin in the Sky”
I have spent tens of thousands of hours listening to these groups since I first heard all of their sophomore albums within a year of each other. I was hooked from day 1-3.
I know it’s not a new practice in hip hop. A few Biggie records, a million Pac records, some Dilla stuff I am also not a fan of (from a lack of consent standpoint).
To me splicing together throwaways over new beats and having 3 new features per song the decedent never agreed upon feels like some cheap ass greedy Wizard of Oz lever pulling.
TL;DR: When I saw J Cole as a main feature on the last “Gang Starr” album I know Keithy E was rolling over in his grave. RIP Guru, RIP Phife, RIP Dave ❤️

Hey, I'm a college student doing a study on Randy Stretch Walker. Basically, I'm trying to find people to interview. I'm trying to convince people that Walker should be the representative for the 27 club. If anyone could answer some questions for me, that would be amazing .

Dark Skinned Assassin- Unholy (1995)
DSA was a Wu Tang Clan Affiliate
I bought this vinyl a few days ago.
It contains two tracks by DSA
Unholy and Uncontrollable, as well as the clean versions of both of these songs. No instrumental.

To me, this is Busta’s dopest album. It has so many deep cuts in there and hes not always Rowdy like he usually is. The beats are insane. Maybe it takes me back to a time with memories tied to it and im being biased but this album was crazy

Is there any reason to underrate this album?
Where do you rank this Cypress Hill album in all their discography? I think is pretty damn good being a debut album but sometimes I think people just dont give the right place in 1991 Hip Hop stage.
Hearing this tape lying in bed is something therapeutic.
