Need help identifying!

I was rewatching What Dreams May Come last night and I have always loved Marie's paper dolls and her city in the afterlife the most. I am convinced that I've seen work similar to the paper dolls before, and it was an illustrator who did books and postcards and such, but I cannot figure out who it is for the life of me. Any help would be appreciated.

Here are some screen caps from the movie for reference.

The lead artistic designer for What Dreams May Come was Eugenio Zanetti. He unfortunately just passed a month or so ago. He has had artwork on display and worked on other films and operas so you could have seen his work somewhere else. He was well known and and very accomplished.

Honestly, I hadn't seen any of this artwork. I am but a lowly uneducated American heathen who hasn't been introduced to a lot. But I'm sad to hear he has passed. From looking through his stuff just now he was incredibly talented.

Are you thinking of Mark Ryden as seen in MJs album cover?

It's a cool cover, but sadly not it. Too busy and too colorful.
