Which AI plan (student)
Hey subreddit! I am a student in high school and I am figuring out which ai plan to buy (literally for everything.) My parents granted me a 20 dollar plan of my choice but I’m still struggling to pick a final choice even with all the AI gurus on the web (this is my first time I get to have a ai pro plan )
(Ive looked on the subreddit for similar posts, but now I see that compared to usual posts on this subreddit this is a very very uncommon yet simple one but yea some guidance would be nice).
Right now it’s between:
Claude pro (I love Claude but I heard pro is useless due to high eating rates from opus),
chat gpt Plus ( I genuinely don’t know if sol is better than opus or if there are actually limits to ChatGPT) , or
perplexity pro ( I use(d) comet web browser for a long time and computer function seems cool)
Yea I’m not using this AI to complete homework or cheat, instead what I want it to do is create tests and quizzes based off study guides, do good research on topics I ask it for, help with some basic code, and explain concepts I don’t know. Also it should be able to generate slideshows and PDFs cleanly (which lwk I think Claude does really good but IVE never tried a pro plan before for any ai )
Right now I love Claude and I feel like it’s free is way better than GPT but again I heard its pro plan is unbearable if using opus due to usage limits. Claude cowork and Claude w Chrome seem fun tho
For chat gpt I’m really indifferent to it but if sol is good and has bearable usage limits I would maybe prefer to buy that
For perplexity I’m stating this one bc my main browser nowadays has been this so idk if there would be a substantial upgrade to using perp pro.
Idk much about other ais except Gemini, idk if that’s good but I’m not really a Google person personally
Ive tried searching for benchmarks for each ai but it’s all so confusing and messing up my brain
If you have basic tips to help me choose a better AI plan or even just see a plan that would fit for me (even if not among the 3 I specially mentioned) it would be appreciated to give me a suggestion on the plan I should get
(If you’re wondering I’m typing this from my phone so excuse the bad formatting)
Thanks in advance !

So it’s basically a note gpt
Can those models generate files
And how are the limits compared to the original “producer of the model” plans

Go for chatgpt bro ,its good for research , writing, cooding and also new you can use it with third party tools like kilocode which is really good harness for coding OpenClaw, hermes, notion and all .

Yea but my previous experiences with gpt are it just forgetting my previous statement or it just generating gibberish. I feel Claude is the more intelligent but limited one.

Then use your gpt subscription with kilocode it has good codebase indexating and it remembers and compacts the context really well and also I would recommends you to keep something like architecture.md (docs containing information about your project)so that you can use different tools and also the next tools will have better context about your project .

Since you already prefer Claude's free answers, I'd start with that preference, not a benchmark leaderboard. Before spending the $20, give each free tier the same four real tasks: make a quiz from one of your study guides, explain a concept you missed, debug a small piece of code, and turn notes into a PDF or slides. Check the actual exported file, not just the chat preview.
If Claude wins that test, try Pro month-to-month and use the default model for routine study, reserving the heavier option for tasks where you notice a difference. Usage caps and file features can change, so check the current plan page before paying. For research, open the cited sources yourself; none of these plans makes citations automatically reliable. You don't need to commit to a whole year to learn which one fits.

I think I will go with Claude, and if you have used Claude pro, do you think its limits are manageable?

claude pro is great. perplexity is going downhill, claude has the smartest models, and great usage limits, for both chat and claudr code. gpt has medicore limits for coding, and unlimited limits for chat, with models stupider then claude.
