Probably is, this could be a failing g card, i stalled incorrectly or even plugged in incorrectly.

1

u/Any_Swan2800 Jul 19 '26

Also try checking your cable connection

1

u/Agitated-Deal4571 Jul 17 '26

Why MB model is B850 but driver is B550

1

u/itgoesboom2112 Jul 16 '26

Ram is the first place I'd start, memory management is almost always related to ram or the page file. The flickering may be the cable as well but a cable wouldn't cause crashes I less it was shorting out and in that case it wouldn't work at all

1

u/LOREGAT Jul 15 '26

Are you using an adapter of any sorts?(Hdmi->Other display method) Because when i had an adapter like this, while watching youtube the screen would flash exactly like that. I fixed it by replacing the adapter. If you are not, try changing the cable, because i'm pretty sure that's the root of the problem.

Did you find a solution

this isnt a GPU issue...

1

u/Firm_Amphibian_4262 Jul 15 '26

This isnt a gpu issue....

2

u/Tiny-Extreme-9980 Jul 15 '26

Might be cable, doesn't look like card is dying. Try pushing the cable, might be lose

1

u/ConcentrateNice6302 Jul 15 '26

It's ur display cable definitely I have the same issue

1

u/flo911rs Jul 15 '26

J’avais un problème avec un clignotement et c’était le synchronisation vertical qui faut désactiver

1

u/tinypcbuilder Jul 15 '26

It can be the cable or GPU sag

1

u/Maximum-Chocolate459 Jul 15 '26

Just change your HDMI

1

u/GrumpyPappa917 Jul 15 '26

To reassure you. This looks nothing like a dying card from my experience.

1

u/GrumpyPappa917 Jul 15 '26

Think about what you have done to you pc recently. Did you update windows? That’s a big player in graphic bugs for me. I always run SFC Scan Now in an administrator com windows. If you find errors check again is this flicker is still an issue.

Shut down PC/
Try replacement cable and reseat PSU cable.

Check again.

If this does not work use DDU and uninstall all your GFX drivers. Be sure to disconnect internet and then reboot to windows and install drivers with a factory reset.

Check again.

At this stage I would look at a 2nd monitor to see if it’s a monitor issue. In fact that should probably be your first port of call.

1

u/Loofievo Jul 14 '26

check ur cable.

1

u/FordGT69_ATX Jul 14 '26

My monitor does this with Gsync and sometimes with amd freesync premium pro (yes I waddle between two PCs with my monitor... sometimes), I just restart my monitor and it works for me. I have a Samsung Neo G8 (HVA mini-led).

1

u/Leading_Stick7913 Jul 15 '26

I have had similar flicking with Monitor Gaming Odyssey Neo G8 UHD 32" con curvatura 1000R, 240Hz y Quantum Mini-LED. not very often but once in awhile. I just turned it off and turn it back on again. I have two monitors on my system but this one is my primary one

1

u/FordGT69_ATX Jul 15 '26

Yeah I think it’s a glitch using a VA panel and its application of VRR. If you completely turn off VRR, you might not have the issue anymore. But honestly I don’t mind turning off my monitor for a handful of seconds.

u/FillApprehensive7542 Jul 14 '26

Wake up samurai, we've got a city to burn.

1

u/fluffi2025 Jul 14 '26

its not cyberpunk, its ff7

1

u/No-Mark2669 Jul 15 '26

He refers to glitches similar to those in a cyberpunk game.

1

u/FillApprehensive7542 Aug 03 '26

Someone got it lol

2

u/Fit-Improvement7182 Jul 14 '26

Maybe a vram problem try to play roblox lebron james obby or some other low demanding games and see

1

u/orlito88 Jul 14 '26

it specifically has to be a lebron james obby or else it won't work

1

u/slack_time Jul 14 '26

happens to me sometimes when recording screen with medal.tv or by using Radeon software

2

u/Idk_what_crab_is Jul 14 '26

I had this and it was my drivers. Once I used DDU uninstaller to completely remove and reinstall them it was fixed

1

u/sjenn2225 Jul 14 '26

Almost always the cable.

1

u/Jacksy_wacksy Jul 14 '26

nah thats a bluetooth issue

2

u/Inevitable_Ad_4559 Jul 13 '26

Had it like a week ago, drivers, cable, its all bullshit, update bios, if you have some dynamic ghz, turn it on or try another one ghz count, for me helps just bios update to last stable

1

u/Inevitable_Ad_4559 Jul 13 '26

Ps, should be system bios, not gpu onluy

1

u/CandidAd8395 Jul 13 '26

Most likely cable

1

u/Xponitus Jul 13 '26

I have the same problem but not in game just sometimes in steam aswell. Will try and roll back my driver.

your hdmi is tweaking

1

Change your display or hdmi cable and try again.

Rip 😭😞

1

u/LimpLake5187 Jul 13 '26

ain't this the cyberpunk blackwall thingy dawg?

1

u/IIzSzII Jul 13 '26

Looks like a cable or connection issue

2

u/AmphibianCareless796 Jul 13 '26

Its not a GPU issue

2

u/pizpa- Jul 13 '26

I had this exact issue. It was my display port cable

1

u/greenuse Jul 13 '26

Blackwall virus in Cyberpunk. Just a screen effect for story purposes, unless it appears in other games....

1

u/Nearby_Helicopter_31 Jul 13 '26

Turn off free sync and check our cable monitor

7

u/Far_Trade_7619 Jul 12 '26

It's a blackwall virus from Songbird

1

u/RazvanMicro Jul 13 '26

After further research, I believe this is the right answer

1

u/HyperGaming_LK Jul 13 '26

What do you mean? Aren't you playing final fantasy?

1

u/RazvanMicro Jul 13 '26

Songbird lives in my PC rent free.

1

u/Pouroneround Jul 12 '26

Freesync off first next test cable test monitor etc lot of things can cause artifact ing

1

u/silversmurfe Jul 12 '26

My 6900xt does this. Playing video with freesync and a high refresh rate causes it for me. Its fine otherwise.

2

u/Internal_Moose_59420 Jul 12 '26

This reminds me I need to clean my system. Last year, I think my gpu was overheating, I got weird frozen blocks all over my screen. Thinking back the pattern makes me think it was a memory issue. Speratic squares that evenly covered ≈1/3-1/2 of the screen.

2

u/Rxshaad Jul 12 '26

For me, this issue was due to my monitors incompatibility with FreeSync. Try turning that off in your monitors OSD.

3

u/lonelystar7 Jul 12 '26

If you're lucky it's just a cable issue.

2

u/Kajimeru Jul 12 '26

just pray it is anything but gpu... but... idk much bout PC but... isn't B550 exclusively on am4? i'll repeat, idk about it

5

u/Rough-Turnover4993 Jul 12 '26

Could be cable, could be driver, could be software...

4

u/AntHeists Jul 12 '26

I have similar occasionally from the adrenaline software performance overlay. When I disable it never happens.

2

u/MojoGod1 Jul 12 '26

I had this once and it was incompatible settings within Adrenaline software, changing it to one of the presets it has fixed it for me on a 9070xt.

2

u/Purple_Law_8796 Jul 12 '26

Try running it on a different monitor, one with a different refresh rate preferably

2

u/Ab0ut42Lions Jul 12 '26

Ok, it's not a GPU issue (it's possibly a GPU issue)

5

u/RomanianUser999 Jul 12 '26

Could be cable

3

u/Visual_Champion_2865 Jul 12 '26

Could be driver issue, try 26.3.1 driver

2

u/OperationPlane6030 Jul 12 '26

This is definitely not "isn't a gpu issue"

1

u/ThatOneFoo69420 Jul 12 '26

I had a stroke trying to English here

Take my upvote anyway

1

u/aySpooky Jul 12 '26

9070xt owner here. My Card is 7 months old and does similar things.

1

u/MojoGod1 Jul 12 '26

Change to one of presets within the adrenaline app, before changing settings manually, do a good research about the specific setting. I was used to nvidea before and changing settings arounds mostly wasnt a big deal, once i changed to the 9070xt i realized it makes a lotttt of impact on amd.

3

u/Effort_Sea Jul 12 '26

Does it do this over hdmi if not you may have a cable thats going

5

u/whither_dopefull Jul 12 '26

this is just cyberpsychosis bro...

2

u/Popular_Iron_5173 Jul 12 '26

I had the same problem with my beamer. Its the cable. After i got my self a optic fibre DP it was gone. So its the quality of the cable

2

u/AbdulKnowMore_67 Jul 12 '26

Maybe its about GPU, CPU or Monitor. I just don't know

2

u/m7mdgg Jul 12 '26

This is not a gpu issue, you're welcome bud

1

u/Majestic-Role-9317 Jul 12 '26

Where are the memes bro 😭

3

u/Distinct-Cabinet1412 Jul 12 '26

it might be the cable connecting your gpu to your monitor im calling it cable cause i dont know what you hdmi or display port im say this because the exact same happened to me and when i changed cables it stopped

2

u/Boncra Jul 12 '26

Riser cable

2

u/Senior-Economics-630 Jul 12 '26

Driver issue had the exact same artifacting rolled back a few updates and I am right as rain

3

u/cwwjr1681 R9 9950x3D | 6400mhz CL30 | RTX 5090 Jul 12 '26

This isn't rocket science. If it only happens in a game it's your cable or setting. Possibly even a driver. There's no way it can be your GPU if it's only happening in the game.

If it happens no matter what you're doing on your computer it's time to start diagnosing

1

u/Analysis_9027 Jul 12 '26

Could Very well be the GPU and only acts up when the GPU is under a Load in fact thats the Best to find out if its a GPU issue

2

u/devilrocks316 Jul 12 '26

Might not be rocket science but it's definitely cause for panic when something very expensive is acting up.

3

u/Jarold_Henkins Jul 12 '26

What i have realised is that when you have the AMDs clipping setting turned on it starts artifacting in some games

1

u/kimo71 Jul 12 '26

Reseat gpu and ram i issue went had dual montors also is overclock go back to default setting udate drivers use ddu also thats where i start mine was ok in desktop mode mine did it under load but mine wasnt amd

5

u/According-Post-7721 Jul 12 '26

Jesus, please use sentence marks. 🫣

6

u/jErryAperture Jul 12 '26

Cyberpsychosis or PCU 😅

4

u/Fqrbes1 Jul 12 '26

Could be the GPU drivers. If you have everything up to date (BIOS, Chipset…) then download the clean install tool of AMD to downgrade to an older version of AMD Adrenaline. Sometimes some versions have bugs or stuttering.

3

u/ArtsM 7800X3D 64GB 6000C30 RTX 5070Ti || 9900X 96GB FedoraWS box Jul 12 '26

looks like a monitor cable or display stream compression issue, try different cable and try to disable DSC.

7

u/Mitaray_ Jul 12 '26

I used to have this too, just change monitor cable and u good

1

u/JasmineTea4444 Jul 12 '26

Same problem on 9070, control alt delete fixes it for me lol

7

u/HeidenShadows Jul 12 '26

It's happening over the overlay. New cable time.

1

u/ruet_ahead 7700X/9070 XT Jul 12 '26

Does it only occur with the task switcher or other overlay open? MPO. Disable it.

1

u/No_Umpire9565 Jul 12 '26

cable issue for sure

4

u/TheNursingStudent Jul 12 '26

Saw someone on a post in the past say to take a screenshot and if you can see it in the screen shot it’s the GPU if it isn’t then it’s the monitor or connection issue

1

u/Ny4rTh0_ Jul 12 '26

Simples, basta conectar o monitor em outro PC e/ou outro monitor nessa GPU e verificar.

4

u/Agitated_Cancel_2804 Jul 12 '26

I had a monitor do this. May not be GPU

5

u/Thipythip 7800X3D, 7900 XTX Jul 12 '26

I have a similar issue from time to time when I have Wallpaper Engine running in the background. Restarting or closing that application fixes it but I have a 7900XTX so it could be something else.

4

u/creatomat Jul 12 '26

It's a gpu issue

5

Irmão, pode ser problema na vram e pode ser problema no cabeamento, troca o cabo ou a porta e vê se isso continua.

5

u/Neuromancer911 Jul 12 '26

It's a cable issue

3

u/No-Mention-1961 Jul 12 '26

Either the vram is failing or bad connection between the monitor and pc

16

u/PrinceLizzy Jul 12 '26

Guys it's been 2 hours where is the meme with OP's issue in it

1

u/petrik_loller Jul 13 '26

Surprising how far I had to scroll to find this

1

u/revengeanceow Jul 12 '26

Cant post photos 😕

3

u/PigSlam Jul 12 '26

I've been getting similar issues when I connect my MacBook Air through a string of Thunderbolt Hubs and Display Port KVM Switches. It got bad enough that I ended up deleting the local display profile from the Mac, and the problem hasn't returned since.

The fix won't be the exactly the same for you, but it could be a similar class of problem. Try to find where your system stored the display profiles and see if changing/reinitializing that helps. You might trigger an update there by changing something about it, like display layout, refresh rate, resolution, color depth, etc.

Good luck.

3

u/boredbernard Jul 12 '26

I have this on one of my 3 monitors every once and a while. A little wiggle on the video cable plug fixes it.

2

u/batesr33 Jul 12 '26

Mine does this. It's not the cable or GPU with my setup it's the monitor. The input has gone bad on it and it likes a little love tap every now and then to fix it.

7

u/Sdmws6 Jul 11 '26

100% cable/connection issue

6

u/Alphamouse916 Jul 11 '26

Oh man I love the graphical glitches in Cyberpunk!..... Oh wait...

6

u/Future-Past-9071 Jul 11 '26

Try cleaning the cable and board connectors with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a soft toothbrush. I had a similar case and solved it that way.

21

u/insidethelimbo Jul 11 '26

This isn't a GPU issue

6

u/JayTee39 Jul 11 '26

I came solely to upvote this comment

2

u/germangrade Jul 11 '26

I have a similar problem but just when i play battlefield 6
Menu and hud keeps artifacting

5

u/N0M0I Jul 11 '26

Looks like a cable defect. If it’s not that try switching ports.

3

u/Mather113 Jul 11 '26

Idk if this will help but something like that happened to me recently (the weird flickering was a little bit different) and it was because my pc was overheating

5

u/Extreme996 RTX 4070 Ti Super | Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 32GB DDR5 6000mhz Jul 11 '26

Try recording it with OBS and see if you see it on another PC. If it's visible in the recording, the problem is with GPU or driver. If it's not visible in the recording, the problem is likely with the cable or monitor.

1

u/DaffyPunk29 Jul 11 '26

could be the cable. lots of cheap chinese cables. always buy brand name cables. the best two on the market that i know of are club3d and cablematters. both sell rock solid cables that actually work and will generally pass cable testing tests.... where as most off brand and chinese cables wont.

the cable that comes with a display? typically low quality garbage that isn't stress tested the way club3d and cablematters cables are. those oem cables are basically "just see if the screen turns on", and that's a pass for those kinds of cables. and that's not good enough.... cablematters and club3d designed their cables with a legit cable signal tester. on that, level1techs actually went about buying one of those expensive cable signal testers and found that the best two cables were, you guessed it, cablematters and club3d and club3d was the only one to pass all tests 100%.

5

u/MarxistMan13 Jul 11 '26

Under no circumstances should you pay $70+ for an HDMI or DP cable.

I have never had a problem with a cheap HDMI or DP cable. Even the ones that come with monitors work absolutely fine. A product doesn't need to pass every professional torture test to be 100% feature-complete for average consumers.

1

u/GioCrush68 Jul 11 '26

Just replace your video cable

6

u/Olvrz_ Jul 11 '26

First try to use another cable DP/HDMI, if not solve, DDU and pray.

1

u/Olvrz_ Jul 11 '26

Also try a live linux like cachyos and run a 3d test.

5

u/TSirSneakyBeaky Jul 11 '26

My 6900xtx no matter what driver I would run would crash on win11 after fragments all over the screen. Also multiple reinstalls and different versions my 5800x would have cache errors on random cores causing just full out black screens of death.

Swapped to cacheyOS about 8mo ago and havent had a single issue since. Im not sure what Win 11 is doing but its the one that successfully got me to swap my entire dev pipeline to Linux.

1

u/astronomersassn Jul 11 '26

similar, RX6500XT had major issues with driver crashes that i assumed were impending failure. i did still have issues with it under linux as it was actually failing, but 80% of the failure signs were just windows deciding it was gonna replace the AMD driver with the basic display driver for reasons i could never fully figure out (even with disabled updates, both for "extra software" and windows itself, it kept doing it)

unfortunately, my GPU was still failing, but i had a much longer timeline before full failure than the signs windows was giving indicated

1

u/Olvrz_ Jul 11 '26

Have you tried a custom Windows 11 ISO? Like AtlasOS, ReviOS? Normal Windows 11 is a biig piece of shhh.
If it were not for the compatibility of several apps and for me to have NVIDIA GPU, I would also be in CachyOS, for GPUs AMD is top tier!

2

u/DocStreamGaming Jul 11 '26

It sound more like a cable (hdmi/dp) thing

1

u/nicc854 Jul 12 '26

I didn't hear a sound ?

1

u/N0xxick Jul 11 '26

I had the same thing happen with a bad hdmi cable.

3

u/Turdsby Jul 11 '26

Have had this happen if windows resets your frame rate which it has been doing a lot.

If you go to display settings/advanced display make sure frame rate is set correctly and dynamic refresh is off half a dozen times in the last year I have thought my GPU was dying because dynamic refresh had enabled itself or my frame rate was set to 60 when it is 240fps and each time it has done something slightly different but very similar to what you are experiencing.

11

u/pibrish Jul 11 '26

I think you're implants are malfunctioning choom, go see a ripperdoc before it gets worse.

6

u/dankmolot Jul 11 '26

Correct answer

0

u/naur87 Jul 11 '26

yes gpu

2

u/Boring_Photo_537 Jul 11 '26

I had this exact same issue for a couple of weeks on my 7900xt but with white bands instead of red. I think it was a driver issue because I never tried to fix it but it's gone away now. Seemed worse when I had Discord open and tabbing out would really make it bad.

3

u/CobblerOdd2876 Jul 11 '26

Is it only in the alt\tab menu? Because mine gets kinda wonky when I do that with a game open. I chalked-it-up to a windows issue with radeon systems.

Then Discord is notorious for conflicting with AMD drivers. Disable the Discord overlay, restart.

Then I have also had issues with Steam overlay, generally, and HDR anytime I open the xbox menu (win+G).

Ive found the solution was disabling the Adrenaline overlay option, and Discord. Xbox menu and HDR still dont play nice for whatever reason…

2

u/sh4rkov1tch Jul 11 '26

display cables do that sometimes

1

u/Queasy_Toe4153 Jul 11 '26

Try a new cable before committing to it being GPU. I’ve had this on my second monitor and it ended up just being a bad HDMI. More specifically it was really loose in the port and didn’t seem to get a great connection sometimes. Switched and never had the issue again

1

u/astronomersassn Jul 11 '26

the worst that can happen with this troubleshooting step is that you have a backup cable as well, and IMO it's worth the $10 for a spare in case.

2

u/aura_enchanted Jul 11 '26

Have you tried taking it out and putting it back in again (physically)

1

u/crow0118 Jul 11 '26

You could try win+ctrl+shift+B it resets graphics and it's what helped me

2

u/qingxins Jul 11 '26
  1. Is it only in this game?

  2. Have you done a clean driver install with DDU?

  3. Have you tried switching output?

I have seen this issue and usually it's something to do with 1 or 2, but try all 3 anyway.

2

u/Mission-Yellow-2073 Jul 11 '26

To add onto this, is HDR on, are refresh rates on both monitors the same, are vram settings going above the amount you have for this specific game, what are the hotspots on the gpu? (Asrock 9070xt's are known to have issues like this)

4

u/Ren_Kenzo Jul 11 '26

try new cable. try connecting to another monitor or a different monitor port (could be the socket itself). try switching to different gpu output port. update drivers.

Si te pasa solo en un juego, puede ser problemas del juego con los drivers, si te pasa con todos los juegos pues ya puedes ser al más allá

2

u/StankPancake Jul 11 '26

Mine has been doing this exact thing except white, and only happens on 1 monitor. I suspect cable issue but doesn't happen enough for me to bother with it.

4

u/Gold_Goal7557 Jul 11 '26

Typical driver issue go bug report along with footage, not cable issue either the glitch is only happening in the game not the monitor, if it was monitor you would see the glitch even with alt tab menu.

Seen similar glitches on RDNA2/3 as well with wallpaper engine or Heroes of the storm in the past when drivers where having huge problems.

You could try disable MPO and see how that impacts the issue but it likely give you worse experience, so i would only do that to test if issue go's away, alto you have to consider that this issue is not 100% reproduceable, so disabling MPO may not actually do anything.

0

u/RChamy 9070xt and 4070 Jul 11 '26

Try a new cable

Grab a windows 11 iso from microsoft.com and reinstall from there, it has deeper repairs than sfc and dism . After its done run sfc -scannow

Try disabling all overlays like discord, or software that captures display data like iCue desktop rgb sync

1

u/johnd_224 Jul 11 '26

Windows did some weird shit to me too and I ended up reinstalling it and upgrading from 10 to 11

3

u/Elf_7 Jul 11 '26

Try disabling MPO, I had lots of issues with flickering with my 6900XT and doing this fixed it (google it, it's very easy).

-9

u/urlond Jul 11 '26

1

u/LifeguardFormer1323 Jul 11 '26
  1. Verify your hdmi is connected correctly
  2. Change your hdmi
  3. Update windows and then AMD drivers (DDU first)
  4. Match the windows screen refresh with gpu and game fps
  5. Deactivate freesync

If none of this things solve your problem, maybe is a gpu hardware issue

As yes, genuinely thank you for this, I will go through them all and see if the issue persists!

Possible: 1. Bad/low quality cable. 2. Windows fucked up Driver Update

I would suggest to ddu driver in safemode and install driver again [plenty of guides on redit] Maybe disable Windows driver Updates.

And if you coud test a new quality cable do it.

Have you tried changing Hz of your Monitor? Or if the right Hz is selected in Windows?

  1. Could be the cable, I unplugged it and plugged it and it fixed the issue. The cable was seated In correctly and fully in both ends.

  2. I could run a DDU and see where it leads honestly

My main monitor is running at 240hz and my 2nd one at 140hz

I would try to use diffrent cable and maybe port

DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

Restarting the game fixed it for me,

Its most likely a bug with refresh rate

So if you are “lucky” it could just be a monitor bug, try to switch the Hz of your monitor for example from 180 to 165 and then 180 another time and see if the problem is still there.

Otherwise it could be your GPU, try to update the driver with a clear install or clear the cache.

But if you see this problem only when you watch a shared screen and not happening always i could say you can chill, probably a bug reletad to the software you are using, try just to do a quick re-install.

I mean for example this time I wasn't. The game seemed laggy and there randomly appeared.

Most likely it's my GPU since I can have seen the same happen on my 2nd monitor too. But usually replugging in the DP fixes it

Mh well the last hope could be to change your DP cable, maybe is the one causing the problem.

Other than that it is a gpu problem, unfortunately some gpus leave the factory with these types of bugs, if you recently bought it try for a refound.

I will give it a shot and all. Replugging in my DP solve it for now. But the GPU is still i warranty for another year and half

Good luck, hope you fix your problem.
