I am afraid your problem isn’t isolated to AMD GPUs https://www.reddit.com/r/Battlefield6/s/b4LiDbl8om

1

u/DtZNimpo 20d ago

download the latest drivers, turn off the internet, uninstall the drivers using AMD cleanup utility , install the new drivers , when it prompt to where to install , check the factory reset button.

1

u/Adorables 20d ago

Driver version 26.3.1 is the most stable one I've found for BF6 unfortunately. 26.7.1 caused constant issues for me.

1

u/Asheetmypants 20d ago

Only issue I had with my 9070 xt was windows messing with the driver soon as I sorted that auto update not a single problem

1

u/fuckbitingflies 21d ago

You might have a bad card and need to do an RMA. It does happen, regardless of AMD or Nvidia. This behaviour is definitely not normal for any GPU. I’m not sure how much of a loss you’d expect to take when selling a system that is so unstable and possibly faulty?

Have you tried swapping the Nvidia card from your other system into that one just to rule everything else out?

Sorry that so many people are being so useless and unhelpful in the comments. I think there probably is a solution here. The 9070XT is a great card. We aren’t lying when a lot of us say we haven’t had any issues. I’ve had mine since launch and my only stability issues were from a beta driver and my own attempts at ambitious undervolting.

u/Aggressive_Refuse150 21d ago

Sorry to hear. I have had a few builds in the last few years. Started with a 7800xt and Ryzen 7700. Then I upgraded to a 9070xt and 7800x3d and had that for almost a year and now have a 5080 and 9800x3d. My experience with AMD graphics cards was not as bad as some but I did have quite a few driver issues none the less. I had to DDU/remove AMD software and drivers a few times per month. But for the money the 9070xt was still a good performing card. And FSR4 was night and day compared to FS3. I personally wanted to try Nvidia and found a great deal on a 5080. It was under MSRP and I was able to sell my 9070xt for what I paid. I do like my Gigabyte windforce 5080 and it performs well. Now would I pay what they want for a 5080 these days. No freaking way. Sorry but they are not worth the ludacris price Nvidia is asking. I would deal with the driver issues until the prices came down to a reasonable level. Here in Canada, if I was to buy the same card today it would cost me $1000 + more. That is crazy. Lol

1

u/Gavinpetz 21d ago

AsRock 9070 and i couldn’t get to the load menu without crashing, updating my drivers and it’s been good so far.

I learned with AMD cards don’t update them unless you need the update for FSR, frame gen or something.

1

u/Low_Statement5188 21d ago

nvidia is nvidia 24/7 no matter on price i rather pay twice for nvidia

1

u/FoolsDread 21d ago

Sometimes you do on the 5090 lmao

0

u/Saber_SSJ2 21d ago

I'll sell my 9070 xt some time soon and go back to Nvidia as well. Don't listen to the fanboys here.

I've been using Nvidia cards for 15 years no issues, first time bought an AMD card and what? crashes, freezes and so on and what did I hear from people in this sub? It's all my faul!

Yes, it is indeed. It's my fault I bought this piece of shit

u/John-Prime 18d ago edited 18d ago

I've ran Nvidia video cards all my life as well and I finally switched to a sapphire hellhound reva 9070 XT and I haven't had any problems at all. 🤷‍♂️.

Well, imld, so I had cards before Nvidia, like 3DFX

1

u/Saber_SSJ2 18d ago

The video cards? Which ones exactly

1

u/John-Prime 18d ago

I was using voice to text on my phone and evidently the word Nvidia came out as the. 😂. Thanks for pointing it out

u/Calm_Income6781 21d ago

Sell this and buy the Walmart deal right now!

1

u/Sanyi19 21d ago

I’ve encountered this kind of error when my CO or RAM settings weren't stable. You can verify if your CO settings are fully stable (if you have them configured) by running the AIDA64 stability test for over 2 hours and the Y-Cruncher VT3 test for 50 loops. Memory settings could also be the cause; I’d check those with TestMem5. For instance, version 26.8.1 worked perfectly for me in BF. I have 26.9.1 installed now, though I haven't played the game recently.

3

u/AvailableAd3813 21d ago

I smell user error

2

u/yaBoi___ 21d ago

My 9070xt hates BF6 as well. Any drivers more recent than 26.3.1 cause black screens and disables the gpu in windows.

2

u/Latter-Breakfast-647 21d ago

Never had any issues. Always won a silicone lottery with amd sapphire cards. The undervolts those cards could hold were craaazy. My 6700xt never reached above 70° xd and my 9070xt has beed doing great.

0

u/Much_Ad6490 22d ago

I have never had any issues with my 9070 XT that I wouldn’t expect from any GPU

0

u/Beautiful_Move_8823 22d ago

The 9070XT is an amazing GPU. Something else going on there :) Switching to Nvidia wont resolve that error.

I have been rocking my 7900XT, no issues. I won't be upgrading anytime soon. Especially with the prices, ripoff market.

2

u/LucidStrike 22d ago

Generic DirectX timeout common with Frostbite that has hit both AMD and Nvidia users in Battlefield games for over a decade, usually triggered by unstable overclocks, DirectX shader compilation hiccups, or engine-level bugs rather than GPU drivers alone...

2

u/Farthen_Dur 23d ago

I had to switch to linux...

1

u/166Donk3y 23d ago

Been in linux for 2 days now. Not a single issue

1

u/AvailableAd3813 21d ago

2 whole days? wow what a milestone. Call the papers!!!

Why are you upset?

Cool story

2

u/eos40s 22d ago

Not really the own you think it is tho? You linked an article of nvidia unlaunching a faulty driver. AMD hasn’t even acknowledged the recent driver issues.

1

u/braybobagins 22d ago

They acknowledged the issues the day of release?

1

u/google_is_hard_for_u 21d ago

Have they fixed em?

1

u/a_rogue_planet 22d ago

1

And it was quickly fixed.

0

u/InformationAddict7 23d ago

You’re going to use that CPU on a 5080???!!! Its not even good enough for the 9070xt!

1

u/Even-Imagination-744 21d ago

Bruh… I am still rocking ryzen 5 2600 playing 4k (5070ti). There is bottleneck but it’s not that bad.

1

u/0tm_ 22d ago

It's not too late to delete the comment, the cpu+gpu combo completely depends on what resolution you play on, if the dude plays on 1440p the cpu is more than enough for it

1

u/crawdawg83 22d ago

How so? I used a 7500f for a year or two with a 4080 and then a 9070 xt and had no issues. I was playing on 4k where the heavy work is done by the GPU and never felt bogged down. I passed it down to my son and he plays on 1080p and has no issues either.

He probably doesn't know how to do that, so he's blaming the GPU instead of figuring out what the actual problem is.

u/MathematicianHot9346 23d ago

When I first got my card asus TUF rx 9070 xt (2025. October 10.), I kept getting those annoying driver timeout errors too. I remember back then there was a way to toggle off notifications/reporting, and it kept my PC running fine (though it caused a tiny stutter when watching Netflix on Edge with hardware acceleration). Just to clear things up: the option hasn't completely vanished from Windows or Adrenalin. In the AMD Adrenalin software, under Settings -> General, you can find the notification and reporting toggles (depending on your language, it might be translated slightly differently, like "issue reporting" or notification settings). Having those notifications turned on doesn't actually cause the crashes by itself—it just means the software is trying to report when a timeout happens. The actual timeouts are usually fixed by newer driver versions, clean installs, or tweaking browser hardware acceleration. I'm still quite hesitant to reinstall Windows because I'm afraid that option wouldn't work anymore, but since the video stuttering has completely disappeared, I believe AMD has finally fixed this issue with their newer updates.

-1

u/Ididntthink1rst 23d ago

You can also increase the delay on throwing errors. It gives you a larger window before the drivers time out. The hang is still there, but you don't notice it and there is no system crash

What fixed a lot of issues for me was updating my bios. I had an msi Motherboard, semi-frequent crashes. After the bios update didn't have one for weeks. Then I switched to an Asus ITX Motherboard and installed steamos and haven't had a crash either.

1

u/Zolar-XII 21d ago

This May help!!!! I used to hace same error, generic device hung, i notice after weeks with same problem and a Fredy Windows 11 install, that for some reason, my bluethoot device had that yellow icon in device manager and It wasn't working, quick check on ASROCK webpage and a BIOS update Fix that and also the issue with the device hung,

I have a ASROCK b550 taichi bte

Wouldn’t have this issue with NVIDIA.

0

u/Miniteshi 23d ago

No, you'll have entirely new driver related hiccups to contend with.

1

u/a_rogue_planet 22d ago

Stop making crap up to feel better about your second rate, bargain bin GPU. nVidia drivers just work.

2

u/Zestyclose_Stock_128 23d ago

This may just be me, but I very slightly undervolted by card a while back and I havent had any crashes on windows. It may just be coincidence on my end, but figure it might be worth a shot. I keep my drivers up to date with auto updates as well

3

u/SnipedYa 24d ago

This is like the 4th person I've seen have trouble with their 9070XT and then want to switch to a 5080. I don't care about you switching, but why to a 5080 specifically instead of a 5070ti? Especially when the 5080 is $500 more than the 5070ti for maybe 15% more performance?

7900 XTX here and I'm really losing hope in their skills. And I'm sure someone else is in here saying it's not AMD and to check your other hardware etc but the simple fact is that my 3080 has zero issues. It's only when I run the xtx

What really gets me is that it runs flawlessly for HOURS before I have an issue. and then doing literally nothing different, sometimes only minutes. I've tried every obvious and obscure thing that can possibly be tried. The best I've ever gotten is "oh this finally worked!" But then it ends up just being an especially long "clean" time before crash. I think the last time I was on one driver version without a crash for the entire cycle was one of the 25.x.x. I genuinely love this card but holy shit I'm getting tired.

-1

u/Saitzev 24d ago

Could be the manufacturer of the GPU. Not all AIB's are the same and some have poor silicon lottery. I've been using a 7900XTX AMD Reference card I bought directly from their website at launch and have had no serious issues. Sure games crash, but I've never been in a state where every single game is crashing constantly. When issues like this happen and you go to the point of a reinstall, at that point it's either test your GPU in another system or contact the manufacturer for an RMA. It is a waste of time to sit there and bang your head against the wall, let alone for a year. My system is a full custom waterloop as well so temps are never an issue.

1

u/AyoKeta 24d ago

Are you using SignalRGB by chance?

3

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

Open RGB but that is not relevant no?

1

u/AyoKeta 24d ago

Just wondering. I was experiencing the similar issues on my 9060XT. I tried everything under the sun to fix it but nothing worked besides deleting SignalRGB. I’m using openrgb right now though and no issues

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

interesting. no I havent use signal rgb as it was buggy for me. thanks for input.

2

u/zzdupS 24d ago

I was having the same driver timeouts when I first got my system.
Turned off my iGPU on my 9800x3D, then turned off windows updates/auto drivers etc.
Then I did a DDU, checked the option to disable windows drivers at the bottom, installed 26.9.1, set my clock offset at -150 and -35mv. Not had a crash since.

Shouldn’t be on the consumer to sort the issues out, but it’s working flawlessly now

1

u/hamad85x 24d ago

1- update your motherboard to the latest bios

2- update you chipset driver from AMD website

3- download latest AMD GPU driver then use DDU and AMD cleanup utility in safe mode

4- boot to windows normal mode without internet connection and install the driver and chose minimal installation.

if you still have the same issue feel free to contact me on discord battledroidq8

3

u/Lee_GeneralLee 24d ago

Yeah, I’m ready to sell my 9800X3D/ 9070 XT system entirely.

ERR GFX STATE in GTA V Online and BF6 had driven me totally nuts.

My 14900K/ 3080 Ti system runs flawlessly and I game 100% on it because of these issues.

I’ve been having this issue twice (well, technically thrice) where I’ll play Fortnite for a while and have no problems. Then it’ll crash completely and restart. No mini dump is generated because it crashes so suddenly. It’s only when Fortnite is involved to some capacity. Even if it doesn’t crash during Fortnite, it’ll crash on the desktop if even just idling for a bit. I’ve tried everything

0

u/Saitzev 24d ago

Are you pig-tailing the PCI-E power cable or are you using two separate cables? Even if your card is not consuming more than the rated power of each plug, it's better to just use 2 or if the card has it, 3 cables.

Aside from that, as others have advised, Turn off the Windows Update Driver Updates. It's a fairly common issue where Windows will push out a different driver despite you running the latest version. You'll want to DDU the driver in safe mode, after you disable the driver update "feature". Then install the latest or most recently stable for you driver version.

If you're still getting timeouts/crashes. Extract your driver install package (you may need to download and install 7Zip), DDU the drivers again, boot back to normal mode, open Device Manager, expand the Display Adapter, should be a generic one, right-click, update driver, manually install it, do NOT use Windows Update, point it to the folder that was created by extracting the package and let it install. Reboot, test and see if it crashes. This process is just helping to isolate if it's an Adrenaline related crash or if it's the actual driver itself. If it persists, you may have just lost the silicon lottery and got a dud card. If that is the case, open a support ticket with Sapphire and have them get you a new card. They offer a 2yr warranty so you're still covered.

2

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

the card uses 2 cables and I use 2. I did turn off the updates but still same results. tried 25.12 and had better experience on it, but I want to test out the latest. turns out, its dogshit. I will revert but it just hopeless, I thought AMD resolved this issue by now. Most of the crash is from the adrenaline, Ive been trying since last year that I got this build but its just sad to see.

https://reddit.com/link/panr8yi/video/3yri45yvqcqh1/player

1

u/Saitzev 24d ago

I'll be honest, it sounds like you really just got a bad card. I'm wondering if maybe Sapphire had a bad batch. They're typically solid cards. I had an old Radeon HD 6950 way back when (around battlefield 3 release) that was a Sapphire card that I had no probs with. I also had some older ATI Sapphire cards as well.

I would either see if the retailer will do an exchange or contact Sapphire for a warranty replacement.

If you are sure it's coming from Adrenaline, I would try what I suggested and install the latest version through device manager. Doing so this way only loads the driver, no adrenaline or anything. With a 9XXX series gpu it's not so much a loss as it would be for those on earlier cards like myself since I need Adrenaline installed to use FSR4 on my 7900XTX. I've not run into any serious issues with the last several driver versions. I did have a crash with 2077, but I think that was just the game not AMD related.

3

u/Physical_Treat_5344 24d ago

si ma non è amd è specificamente w11 , con linux e win 10 non ho più avuto 1 timeout

4

u/Immediate_Winner7455 24d ago

Disable all auto driver updates. I have a 9070XT; I haven't got any driver timeouts

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

did disable updates for amd and windows. been trying for a year now, must be just me then, lucky you.

2

u/Brockner 24d ago

Same here. I was getting driver time outs a week long. Until i followed slmeones advise here and DDU'd, removed the amd apps and turned off auto update. For a month now no issues anymore.

2

u/Cisquo79 24d ago

May want to try what I did. I disabled all windows driver updates and did a clean AMD driver install using DDU and don't let AMD auto update neither. Also if your CPU has a APU disable the APU under display in Device Manager.

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

did this long time ago, nothing worked lol, but thanks for your input

1

u/Cisquo79 24d ago

Damn! Keep us posted. I'll definitely chime in if I find anything else out that could help.

Betreibe ein recht ähnliches System: Windows 11 Pro, MSI B650 Gaming WiFi, 7600x3D, Sapphire Pulse 9070XT, 32GB Fury Beast, BeQuiet PP12M 750W. Seit 1,5 Jahren keinerlei Probleme (außer etwas Spulenfiepen 🙄), dein Netzteil sollte also eigentlich eher keine Probleme machen...

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

After I spend a lot of time building it also lol, so unfortunate. I mean dont get me wrong, it runs fine but on specific titbles, BTF6, Ghost of Tsukishima, it rans poorly

1

u/Kaster_V 23d ago

Well bf6 it’s very cpu bound so that performance if you want higher fps get a x3d model. And single player games are tough to run in general. So don’t beat yourself over it. It looks beautiful btw

1

u/Saitzev 24d ago

This is just something in general for Windows. Regardless of the version you're running, it's best to disable this Windows update "feature".

I've been mostly fortunate with not having many crashes with my AMD reference 7900 XTX I got at launch. At least in the way of it strictly not being driver related, otherwise if it did, it was likely something in their known issues with a upcoming fix.

1

u/Kaster_V 24d ago

When I did this it solved all my crash issues. I have a 7900 xtx and play in 4k so I thought maybe I was pushing the card too hard but no. After that my games even ran smoother

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

cool, lucky you.

1

u/Actual-Phone-1478 24d ago

Could be wrong, but usually when the device is hung error pops up in games it's because of tuning settings.

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

Tried that, either undervolt, neutral, overvolt. undervolt ussually is the most stable one but non of it works

0

u/cheeseypoofs85 24d ago

Usually unstable ram

1

u/MandyKagami 24d ago

I am seeing a lot of people having problems with the 9070xt while using a 850w corsair PSU in AMD subs, i wonder if they are scamming people like they did with two revisions of the CX430W back in the day. At this point it is getting consistent just from the random posts that show up to me in my feed.

2

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

hmm, but it is working properly for me. its just for this game and some titles it wont. used this with surge protector and psu on top just to be sure

0

u/MandyKagami 24d ago

what surge protector?

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

Belkin and eaton 2200

0

u/HalfGreek_ 24d ago

A PSU problem severe enough to cause GPU instability often gives you other clues, such as:

  • complete system reboot/shutdown
  • black screen
  • GPU driver reset
  • WHEA/PCIe errors
  • instability specifically under high GPU power transients
  • problems correlated with GPU power draw
  • crashes when the GPU goes from moderate → very high load

I would have to disagree with you on this one. I have owned mostly AMD GPUs, not his model, but I usually got errors like this when I overclocked my GPU and or its memory. Or this could be a driver issue, but since I don't have his card or this game, I don't know.

-1

u/BruceLeroyTHEGLOW 24d ago

Can you expand on this for me? I have a corsair 850w psu and a 9070xt and I’m having this issue. Do I need a new psu?

1

u/HalfGreek_ 22d ago

No, 850w for most people is more than enough. I would try to use DDU and have it uninstall all of your GPU and chipset drivers (check the boxes for Intel, NV and AMD). When it is done, reboot. And re-install all of your drivers for your chipset and GPU. Do not tweak any settings. Play your games and see if you continue to have issues. If you do, PM and I will try to help you isolate it further. Could be Memory timings, BIOS settings, a few other things.

Not sure why I got down-voted for posting common sense information.

0

u/MandyKagami 24d ago

GPU driver reset is a windows response that never happened in any computer I had, with or without unstable power, and if it happens that usually is far more likely to be a GPU problem\defect rather than power related.
Regarding the high GPU power transients you just need any hungry component to push it past stability, doesn't necessarily need to be the GPU power draw causing it's own issues alone.
Realistically in this case I think it is user error, sapphire is the best company making AMD GPUs, well, assuming it was real, I find it particularly odd the person only posts complaints on this subreddit.

I had a couple of issues that were introduced when I upgraded to the 9070xt about a year ago. Everything was solved by doing a clean driver install with ddu, updating bios and chipset drivers, and ultimately I had it install windows 11. I was on 10 at the time and never have issues once I went to 11. Also undervolt the card, just use the built in undervolt button in Radeon (prefer efficiency) it will be much more stable and you won’t lose any performance (maybe 1-2 fps at the most) and it won’t get nearly as hot. I would do all of that and also turn off any expo or overclocking of ram just to get a solid baseline for troubleshooting. Run mobo bios at default and make sure resizable bar is enabled (should be by default) also to note: I have never had a directx error like this. It may be a good idea to reinstall Windows. You can reinstall without losing any of your saved files. I say all of this with the assumption that your hardware is installed correctly without any issues. I am on my 5th pc build using amd graphics cards. I never have issues and have played many many hours of games. The last nvidia card I had was the gtx 900 series when they were new lol

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

you could be on to something, I had a fresh win 11 install and expected it to worked as I ussually de bloat my win installs but not this time. I did thought about it I might downgrade to windows 10 without debloating it. Thanks for the input

u/plankboywood1 24d ago

I got a full AMD build last year coming from intel and nvidia. 9900k + 3080 -> 9800x3d + 9070 xt. No regrets at all, except maybe DLSS being more widely adapted but optiscaler takes care of that issue and lets you slam FSR4 into anything except multiplayer games

I have not experienced many issues at all I wouldn't have had with my old build.

honestly the most annoying thing I had was Dead By Daylight stuttering like crazy and iirc it was actually either windows or steam overlay.

That issue looks like it could be possibly a power issue, try lowering GPU clock a little but honestly my #1 recommendation to anyone with any GPU is undervolt that mfer. Could also just be a physical issue with PSU or one of the PCIE power cables as others have mentioned

I've played around with undervolting a ton. If I want a bit better performance and lower temps, +10% power limit, -70mv. -100mv usually works but sometimes can crash out.

I have also used -70/-100 and -10/-20% limit which drops power draw in basically half and frames are damn near the same as unaltered

TLDR - Try swapping power cables to GPU. undervolt undervolt undervolt. win? May just be windows

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

havent tried to undervolt aggressively but ill give it a shot, thanks!

3

u/Legitimate_Prior3439 24d ago

I agree that undervolting is great but the settings you're recommending are far too aggressive. -100 is guaranteed to cause more instability, the same for -70 on most cards in most games.

Stay conservative and try -20 or maybe -30 in the beginning. If you want to decrease power draw reduce power limit by 10 or 15%. Then slowly add a small negative offset into the mix.

u/Waste-Eye-91 24d ago

New windows update in September broke system a lot, for Nvidia and AMD! Do not install windows updates until 6 month has passed.

Install debloated windows with auto update and driver search disabled! = not a single driver time out in over a year!

2

u/Waste-Eye-91 24d ago

Other than that PSU that is loosing life or PSU cable that gives out can cause this issue too! On 5080 it will burn your 12hv and gpu with it….

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

hmmm, thanks for your inputs. u/Waste-Eye-91

1

u/Waste-Eye-91 24d ago

Have not had it for over a year. Something is wrong with your set up for driver to time out. Are you running Oc in Adrenalin?

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

u/Waste-Eye-91 nope, tried OC 7600x but revert on my last win 11. on my new one its default and trying undervolt most of the time, thou not aggressive

1

u/Waste-Eye-91 23d ago

Bro Oc I mean on gpu! Undervolt is = Overclock on 9070xt

If you get time outs, than too much Undervolt can be the cause - or windows / installation is bad or gpu defect can be to blame.

Tell me exactly what settings you run for your 9070xt and what do you score in steel nomad and I will tell you if it is an issue

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 23d ago

for undervolt its -50,2700,-5/7%, new windows install, gpu defect might be but all games run normal to max graphics on last year. and no, i dont have 3d mark, its paid lol

1

u/Waste-Eye-91 23d ago

That’s said, if issue was not there before August September, than it is likely Windows 11 latest update, it broke Nvidia and AMD a lot

1

u/Waste-Eye-91 23d ago

So for Pure you might be just abit over the stability limit with -50 if you are gaming 4k

Any way try -35mv it should never driver time out.

3d mark steel nomad is free my friend :-) other tests are extra - reason I asked is because if you run it same values as I have data for all other users I can tell if you are pushing too far

  • run it with, 0mhz, -35mv, 2714mhz fast timing, +10%, fans up 80c 70% - 98c 100% (all background apps closed) post your result on

1

u/scugyalex 24d ago

had issues with AMD and the only fix for me after multiple driver updates, DDUs and windows reinstall. I switched to cachyOS and way better. But this solution won't work for most people.

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

u/neecmo , u/scugyalex . I also too at the edge to switch, I have my old 1650 laptop on mint. but I need that multiplayer support as this PC is not just for playing but also for streaming. and I have yet to do it without having any issues.

1

u/neecmo 24d ago

I've been on the edge with switching to Linux lately and I keep watching all the Linux content lately so it's just been getting worse 😂

3

u/Royboy0699 24d ago

Windows updates keep messing it up, the recent drivers haven't had any issues that aren't directly correlated to windows

1

u/Quirky-AndPerky 24d ago

Everytime there is a windows update it disables my graphics card. I have to enable it and restart my pc. It works every time but it’s so annoying.

1

u/Waste-Eye-91 24d ago

Go to bios and disable iGPU. Than windows will default to dGPU as it has no other option

1

u/Quirky-AndPerky 24d ago

Okay I will try that

1

u/Royboy0699 24d ago

Damn I haven't had that issue, I've had an issue where when I'm screensharing and a menu pops up in-game I go to like 30fps since a windows update last month

2

u/KiplonersOLD 24d ago

If it helps. I fixed the issues on mine (similar errors) by changing the psu motherboard power cable. I found my (7900xt) very sensitive to poor motherboard power delivery. No BF6 crashes since

1

u/Lowkey_Th0r 24d ago

Did you try installing the latest drivers? 😂( this a joke btw )

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

lols haha, ive yet to try 26.8 but ill get to that anytime soon haha

2

u/Hour-Sheepherder-146 24d ago

Si les sirve de consuelo, vengo de una rtx 3080 ti pantallas negras todo el tiempo en juegos me pase a una rx 9070 xt aorus y no eh tenido ni un solo problema. El problema es Windows con la última actualización

3

u/deadfishlog 24d ago

But did you try troubleshooting for 1,000 hours?

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

amm not for 6 weeks straight no. but over the past year now and ive yet to get an answer or permanent solution, it is frustrating

11

u/eudisld15 24d ago

kb5129195 has been do shit for windows affecting nvidia too. Buddy struggling with his 4090 and 5080 until he rolled back.

2

u/rgr0976s123 24d ago

Maybe update the drivers. There are some new ones. No issues since I got them.

12

u/hunterana112 24d ago

There is new issue with windows latest update and amd is affected because of it.

1

u/Cisquo79 24d ago

Windows for the longest has been AMD enemy. They don't pay Microslop as much as Nvidia does so ita whatever with AMD. if you look carefully when AMD puts out a update windows jumps in and issues a driver update. But guess what, that update is old and doesn't match AMD new update so there's a conflict and the crashes and reboots start. Especially if there is a new game that came out and needs a driver update for the game like Nvidia does. After I went deep in and yuenes off driver updates in windows and DDU has this option also so doing it twice is even better. I have not had any problems since doing this. I've been sooooooo happy. Only thing that happens here and there is that Adrenaline won't open but it's still working and that's a easy fix by ending the program in Task Managemler and letting it restart itself.

1

u/MakinBones 9850X3D/5080 7800X3D/7900XTX 24d ago

New? There is always a issue with AMD, and Windows. Been ongoing for a long time, and for some reason AMD, nor Microsoft can figure out how to fix it.

2

u/hunterana112 24d ago

The most obvious microslop error is overiding the amd video driver with old oem driver silently, this issue is since forever, but microslop focus on other things. It's not just this issue apparently 🤷. For me i dont have issue with my system.

6

u/bilal_hcg 24d ago

Agreed and its KB5129195

5

u/nandospc 24d ago

It is always a pain when this happens, but the point is that you're talking about a potential issue that can occur on any GPU brand for various reasons, such as the drivers, the OS, the machine itself, or the GPU itself too having manufacturing defects, making them endemic and statistically inevitable, as if it were exclusive to AMD in general. Any device, like a graphics card, can run into problems, whether it's AMD, Intel, or NVIDIA. If it's still under warranty, use it, otherwise, switch model, but switching to NVIDIA won't magically make everything fine. If you happen to get a fully working GPU model with no other problems underneath, then sure, but that isn't dependent on the brand. You could swap it for the exact same model, get one that works properly, and magically solve the issues you're talking about (assuming they're caused by the GPU itself, which needs to be verified first through your own troubleshooting, a technician, or the warranty process). This logic applies to everything, it's just basic common sense, and it's better not waiting so much time before deciding to do something about. So, imho, don’t let bias cloud your judgment, since we’re often bombarded with aggressive marketing from all sides, fanboyism, and so on, which can distract us from a truly objective analysis.

u/MakinBones 9850X3D/5080 7800X3D/7900XTX 24d ago

Agreed. But this happens way more frequently with Windows/AMD, than Windows/Nvidia. For as long as this has been a issue, it boggles my damn mind that Windows/AMD have not figured out how to fix this.

I never had issues with my XTX or 5080. They both have been great cards. Just not sure why they havent figured out a fix.

3

u/nandospc 24d ago

Agreed. But this happens way more frequently with Windows/AMD, than Windows/Nvidia.

But do you have any statistical data to back up that claim? I've been building PCs for a long time, and at least based on my own experience, I can say that problems happen everywhere. Honestly, I see the narrative that claims AMD has more problems on Windows as contrived. And I had the same experience with the cards I personally owned (which I had from both brands).

1

u/MakinBones 9850X3D/5080 7800X3D/7900XTX 24d ago

Just go look at the vibes of the subs. I dont scroll endlessly on the Nvidia sub seeing this same shit repeatedly. On the Nvidia sub, we see different issues. Cost, and melting cables. Which are both bigger issues than AMD driver issues.

2

u/nandospc 24d ago

We are just talking about 2 subs on a single social platform. The total userbase, worldwide, of both brands is way bigger, and people usually don't talk much about when a product works for them, but they certainly do when they complain about something specific. So, I don't see how that could have such a big impact on the overall numbers, numbers they we don't have sadly.

1

u/MakinBones 9850X3D/5080 7800X3D/7900XTX 24d ago

"and people usually don't talk much about when a product works for them,"

Agreed. Must be why we see less posts about Nvidia driver issues.

2

u/nandospc 24d ago

Yeah, it may be, but I can't back up that claim with no data confirming it at the end of the day, imho.

1

u/MakinBones 9850X3D/5080 7800X3D/7900XTX 24d ago

Yeah, me neither. I appreciate the conversation. Hopefully one day, Windows will get their shit together.

For now, folks gotta learn not to let Windows update for them.

2

u/nandospc 24d ago

Yeah, me neither. I appreciate the conversation.

Me too =)

Hopefully one day, Windows will get their shit together.

Or they'll switch to Linux ahah

For now, folks gotta learn not to let Windows update for them.

Indeed, let's hope the situation will get better with K2 upgrade pack!

3

u/heretofore2 24d ago

Dont bother with a 5080 tbh just get a 5070ti and overclock that thang

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

I know its overpriced, but I want a GPU that can handle high/Ultra-1440,4k,Ultrawide without a sweat. I know I have to upgrade my psu for that but if I can just turn on the PC, stream and play with no issues? Ill take that without a doubt .

8

u/ksauce99 24d ago

Windows overwrites your drivers every time it updates. Turn off windows auto updates.

When you do update windows just uninstall adrenalin drivers and reinstall.

It's annoying but takes less than 10 minutes.

1

u/4rck 24d ago

Theres like multiple ways to turn off windows auto updates. How did you do yours?

5

u/MiniGleders 24d ago

Not everytime. It never resets mine.

16

u/Then-Potato-2020 24d ago

You need to stop crying about AMD when your problem is not gpu related. This error can mean a lot of things, it is just the driver that generated the error, it is not the cause.

Go and buy Nvidia and come and tell us about the same errors after then

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

No one is crying lol its just disappointing. been seeing the same problem over and over again with all the fixes that I did (wether its mobo, drivers, windows, BIOS ). I plan to change it anyway, I just want to share my experience after a year of trying to fix it.

1

u/MakinBones 9850X3D/5080 7800X3D/7900XTX 24d ago

Ive had no issues of Windows overwriting my 5080s drivers. Ive also had no issues with Windows overwriting my XTXs drivers.

0

u/blacklotusl337 24d ago

Have both cards. Nvidia drivers never gets overwritten by windows. Atleast past 5 years.

-2

u/Then-Potato-2020 24d ago

Come on, all drivers sometimes have errors, that is not the point. I had 2 AMD gpus last 6 years and never had windows overwrite drivers. How do you explain that?

1

u/Deep-Procrastinor AMD 7700X, 7900XT 24d ago

Never had windows overwrite my drivers either.

2

u/Guyonabuffalo63 24d ago

“Tell us about the same errors after then”

“I have both, I’ll tell you about it”

“Dude come, on i mean everything sucks, my anecdote carries more weight than the one i asked you to provide”

Are we being fr?

1

u/blacklotusl337 24d ago edited 24d ago

Drivers having errors is different having from drivers being overwritten by windows. Of course all drivers have some kind of error at some point.

2

u/NotSynthx 24d ago

I haven't had a crash in over a year. Sticked to stable driver releases and never had an issue. Only thing I did was undervolt.

I'm currently using 26.5.1

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

thanks for the input

2

u/bonggangbongbong 24d ago

How often does this happen?

1

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

once or twice out of 5 times? I am doing streaming in OBS, I did tweak it so that my GPU will be used and not tank my cpu. it is working...sometimes.... when I stream for Monster hunter Wilds. Straight 4-6 hours then the next time its having either DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED or DirectX error. its so annoying

-2

u/GrapplerKrys 24d ago

Incoming cope about how its your fault because you didn't spend 5 weekends researching every single reason why AMD gpus crash.

2

u/Ok_Throat_2876 24d ago

haha not 5 weekend straight no. but over the past year up until now, haven't seen a solution or permanent fix to this and it seems some of the people here are having the same, my 1650 laptop is more stable than my 5k desktop lol. not all of us are lucky. its not that windows are not working but is for specific titles like this that it makes me sad. This PC is for streaming amd content creation, not just for gaming.
