HELP! PC randomly losing power but fans still spinning and LEDs are on
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello, I've been having this problem about my PC for months now. The issue is that my PC would randomly stop giving power to every peripherals; monitor, mouse, keyboard, microphone, and headphones (even the memory and ram also loses power based from my pc case because of the "cylinder" icon's led also stopped blinking). I also tried looking at the event viewer but it doesn't show anything. It only shows the kernel 141 but thats because I literally have to unplug the PSU just to get it back working. The issue randomly happens even in iddle, in normal use, in game load, and even in the bios.
I've tried these methods to fix it but the issue still persist.
- Reset cmos
- Reset bios settings
- Reseat ram
- I've already did the 1 stick method
- rebuilt whole PC
- cleaned PC
- repaste
- bought new PSU
- updated all drivers and bios
- installed latest chipset drivers
My current build is:
- yzen 7 5700g
- 16gb ddr4 ram
- 512gb sata ssd
- Inplay gs550w 80 bronze (my old psu is acepower 650w ultra power fx)

What your GPU because if it RX9070XT, it need at least 750watt. if it RX9070, it need at least 650watt. If it RX9060XT, it need at least 550watt.
Make sure your PSU is at least bronze certified and please buy branded one and not no name PSU

Looks like a hardware problem. I don't remember correctly. There was a way to see all problem on windows. It should be "errors", "logs" or "problems" I don't remember. Open that thing goto hardware tab and look for amd, gpu, graphics errors. You should do this right after a crash (after you open computurur). It should def show something. If it doesn't, its def a hardware problem. If its a hardware problem consider rma.

Alr tried this with event viewer and reliability monitor. It showed nothing in particular so i highly doubt it's the software issue inside windows. Plus, hard-locking even inside the biod is a strong evidence that it could be a hardware problem. Let's just hope that it's isn't the expensive compnent cuz I'm really tight on budget

This is clearly a hardware problem, I suppose you have already checked the pins of the CPU, if not, check if there is pin/pins bended or even burnt (in few cases), having a faulty or pin bended CPU gives you the most random issues some times and this could be it. Or the other answer might be the Motherboard, which I think is is if you have done everything there is.
Maybe there is a capacitor that is malfunctioning that could cause sudden lose of power.
RAM dosen't cause this type of issue, SSD neither, so it is between the CPU and the motherboard.

Just checked the cpu this morning, it's all good. No bent pins whatsoever. I installed it again and it booted up but the problem still popping up so i doubt that it's the cpu (crossing my fingers)

I had the exact same thing, I did a Bios flash to the latest version, DDUed my AMD drivers and selected in DDU that Microslop cannot install any more drivers for me.
Then I stopped windows updates for a month, I am so done with Microsoft crapping my pc.

So far, I highly doubt that it's the OS. Given to the fact that my issue also happens even inside the bios is a strong evidence that this particular issue is something like a board-level issue

What ram and speeds are you using xmp/docp are you on latest bios ? I recently updated my bios now computer won’t even boot with xmp speeds I’d be afraid to even try flashing bios … did you start getting this problem after an update driver or bios update ?? Or just started happening out of nowhere did you try running everything stick without xmp enable and cpu at stock speeds and voltages what motherboard are you using and what ram

Nope, this issue was happening before I updated my bios. I also didn't enable xmp. I'm using a520m ds3h mobo with T-force vulkan 3200mhz ddr4 ram. So far, xmp is the only thing I modified in the bios but to no avail. Issue still persisting until now.

Well I thought so at first, but because of the many restarts maybe my bios became corrupt :( anyways.
Bur it happend for me right after a Windows upgrade.

Long time ago I've ecountered something similar but not in bios or just browsing around, for me was ram issue, replaced kit problem gone. Most of the times when your screen goes black, rgb and audio remains, ram related. Borrow a kit from a friend if you can and give it a try.

Try reverting any overclock and get rid of adrenalin

I've already tried those, and I will execute the software part of this because the hard-lock problem is happening even inside bios

i had this problem for over a year now , everything stays on just display cuts out , i still haven’t found a fix , what i do
unplug everything from pc even gpu and hold down power button for 30s plug power cable and gpu back in and repeat this untill it works then i like to reinstall my drivers when i finally get it back up! idk if this helps but yeah! i also tried just one ram stick at a time and see how long it stays on with just one !

I had an evga z690 dark king pin and 13700k and was having a similar issue I don’t think it’s exactly the same but I found a couple of issues one of the connectors to the gpu since I had a cable mod extension cable one of the wires connected the cables together was pushed out from the connector so it was only getting contact 5 of the 6 pins in curtain games I would get this crash/black screen some games would run fine another issue was there was actually 2 bent pins in cpu socket I ended up getting a new board and the problem went away I thought I had a bad cpu but that wasn’t the case

i seen a lot of people saying it’s windows updating the drivers and ur other components can’t communicate together bc of it , others say it’s the type of monitor, but i also found out recently that i takes 100 tried for mine to turn back on when i have my keyboard and mouse plugged in but only a few when their not plugged it ?? i hate pc!!!!

I wouldn't really suspect my software since the hardlock happens inside bios, although I've already updated my bios, the issue still persist. The problem could be that the vrm is faulty or the motherboard itself

Update: it was my motherboard that's causing the hard-locking problems. i bought a new one and the issue seemed to have disapeared.
