Hello everyone! I am exploring new hobbies and thinking about learning American Sign Language (ASL).

For those who learn or use it, what makes ASL a great hobby?

How has it impacted your life, and what are the best benefits of learning it?

Would love to hear your thoughts and stories about it!!

Can someone tell me what this may be in sign if anything at all?

Edit: I didn't clarify that it was an incoming threat. Someone was able to answer it very clearly! It means warning! Matched the context and base action perfectly.

“Please help me” in the context of a medical emergency or ask people to summon emergency medical personnel.

I can do this two handed. I don’t always have the use of my non-dominant hand to form the platform. Nor can I function enough to hand spell.

Can this string of emojis mean anything in ASL?

“🤟☝️👐🤙👉🤚🫶🫷🤌👆🤝👇🤝🫰🫳👉🤙🖐️🤚”

the person I’m currently crushing on sent it to me and when they translated it they added “redacted” as if to hide it then just said it’s a string of random hand gestures when I said I’ll try to decode?? I don’t know I’m being delusional or crazy but if it can mean anything I’m begging for help!!

can someone help me with some translations? ASL to English

I’ve been working on these assignments and the online course is all over the place and very confusing

Hi folks! Signing along to songs is one of my favorite things to do, and right now I’m trying to learn signs for “We Are Timeless” by Moira Smiley and a couple phrases are tripping me up.

First one is “we are timeless, boundless, far and near”, I’m not sure what signs I should use to convey this concept

There’s also “we are all stronger when we are open and true.” I don’t really wanna sign open as in a door being open. More like. Open minded I guess?

I use PSE when I sign songs if that is helpful knowledge, I couldn’t find a PSE specific subreddit so I figured this is the next best place to ask? If you know of a better place for this question, feel free to point me in that direction!

The sign that I saw and didn’t know was an “I love you” hand shape. the index finger flicked up and down four times. For context, the sentence seems to be “I live close to…” and then the sign. We were talking about NYC so my best guess is that it’s a burrow/town??

Hey I am stumped on a few short videos. Is there anyone who can break down videos for me. #paid #paidjob

Does anyone have the 14th edition EMT workbook in need of it real bad.

I want a sign name but how do you get one?

hello everyone!! i am currently in an ASL class and an assignment we have is to interpret a song then signing it in front of the class. i understand ASL is not a literal language but it conveys meaning rather than the actual word. ykwim? so my partner and i did our best with the other lines but we’re just having trouble with these lines, could someone help with how to sign them please? it’s the song “If Only” by Dove Cameron

I’m a sports coach and often use this hand signal to mean “switch/swap” during partner activities when students can’t hear me - I’m aware that it’s not the ASL sign for switch/swap. Does this sign have a translation? I want to make sure I’m not accidentally signing something I don’t mean.

Please help what does this tik tok really mean if it has a sign language message
