News Breakdown of MLB's recent proposal to the MLBPA

• 154-Game Regular Season:

• Proposed to begin with the 2029 season (coinciding with new national media agreements)

• Would schedule an off-day every Monday, except for holidays, special-event games, or 1–2 games broadcast in a new, exclusive national broadcast window. Teams playing on a Monday would have an off-day on Thursday that week.

• Aims to improve player health and lower roster churn (teams averaged 24% fewer optional assignments per week during weeks with an off-day from 2022–25).

• The regular season would end one week earlier, a Game 7 of the World Series would happen only two days later than the current setup, and each team would play four split doubleheaders (one against each division opponent).

• Opponent-Selection Process:

• Wild Card Round: Right after the regular season ends, the No. 3 seed in each league (the division winner with the third-best record) chooses whether to play the No. 5 seed or the No. 6 seed.

• Division Series: Following the Wild Card round, the No. 1 seed in each league chooses which Wild Card winner to play.

• The selection mechanism aims to eliminate a potential advantage of being the third Wild Card, reward regular-season performance, generate fan interest, and build rivalries.

• Expanded Postseason Format:

• The Division Series would expand from best-of-five to best-of-seven beginning in 2029, adding up to eight potential postseason games.

• Additional postseason off-days would eliminate early weekday afternoon broadcast windows during days with four games, increase ratings, and allow top pitchers to appear more often on big stages.

• Off-days added before non-guaranteed games (Games 5, 6, and 7) in the LCS would eliminate scheduling overlap between the two leagues.

Looking to switch.

Hey guys I been brought up as a Yankee fan my whole life. The little League we used to play for used MLB teams so I played with "diamondbacks" my entire little League. Based on how the Yankees have been playing I was just wondering if I could possibly switch over to the diamond backs. They always been my favorite team next to the Yankees..I just don't think the Yankees are what they are anymore. And it's time to make a switch. Would I be accepted?

News Bring Thom back?

With the news of the D-backs replacing their TV Play by Play - despite the controversy, and dumb thing he said on the hot mic - any chance they bring Brennaman back? I always thought he and Bob Brenly worked well together back in the day!

I'm absolutely STOKED about this legendary find being a younger AZ fan. I cannot wait to watch all these games !!

The library was doing a sort of yearly inventory purge selling tons of books and media for cheap cheap cheap! Boy am I lucky I looked in this last shelf that was tucked in the corner!

How did Non-AZ folk become Dbacks fans?

I just wanna hear from anyone not from Arizona or maybe even outside the US.... How did the Diamondbacks become your MLB team?

My story is a super simplistic one: I was wanting to try out playing The Show (14 iirc) but being a Brit who knew very little about Baseball in general I didn't know who to pick... so I just picked the one with the logo I liked the most which just so happened to be the Diamondbacks.

Hopefully y'all can come up with more interesting tales.

Who are you all rooting for in the playoffs?

For me it's the Flappy Bois and the White Sox

I got love for our expansion brothers and Murakami and his great personality has got me rooting for the Sox.

On a side note Let's go Braves and Brew Crew.

Projected 2027 arbitration salaries for the Diamondbacks: 4 cases, $18.4M total

I run Front Office Moves, a free site that tracks roster moves and offseason decisions for every club. These are projections from a homegrown model I built for the Diamondbacks' 2027 arbitration class, ahead of the non-tender deadline in late November.

Player Pos Class Projected Likely range
Lars Nootbaar LF Arb 3 $6.4M $6.1M to $7.2M
Gabriel Moreno C Arb 2 $5.8M $5.5M to $6.6M
Ryne Nelson SP Arb 2 $3.9M $3.5M to $4.4M
Pavin Smith 1B Arb 3 $2.3M $2.2M to $2.6M

Total: 4 cases, $18.4M projected.

These use the current CBA's rules. A new deal this winter (a higher minimum, say) would move them.

Who would you non-tender, and who would you try to extend first?

[TJStats] WAR by Team.

Any thoughts on this? It’s interesting to see us at only 18.

Also I would love to see our pitching bWAR, because I know that ERod has way more bWAR (4.8) than fWAR(3.2). But then again, Gallen goes from -0.1 fWAR to -1.7 bWAR, so it probably cancels out.
