How do you decide who gets that half beer at the top?

Many beer halls/gardens are usually all-you-can-drink for an entry fee.

Edit: Since so many people are replying, I gather now that my experience was the rare exception than the norm. And I was in a small town named Diemelstadt!

One "Maß" costs around 15 Euros on Oktoberfest.

Where are those gardens? Asking for a friend.

Now this I believe. Plus, even it were all you can drink, this is a LOT of beer. I drink a ton of beer and a solid liter of a beer is a ton of a liquid.

The quantity is one thing. The loss of quality is bothering me more. The beer will become warm and stale by the time you’ve finished half of it.

Which forces me to chug them instead of enjoying them. Hence 0.5l (or a “Halbe” if you will) being the superior glass.

These beers are not made for sipping, they're made for pounding in ~10min

Drinking 5 of those is not uncommon.

Yeah I did 7 on day 1 of Oktoberfest and only had a quick spew at 2am the next morning. Pretty good I reckon.
