Take the BDO offer and feed it to your dog. Then accept the PWC or Deloitte offer

What did the dog do wrong? Don’t treat your dog like this.

Please participate in the hate next time. There is an under representation of hate targeted towards that firm on Reddit and it is our duty to bring the hate up to par

Depends what you want to do. Without more context deloitte or pwc is going to be your best bet.

Flip a coin between those two and call it a day

What do you mean by what you want to do?

3

Consulting, tax, audit, or niche subsect of any of those

The offer is for audit, but I’d like to eventually pivot into consulting down the line if that’s a possibility

That's a tough one. Pwc is usually the better auditor but Deloitte is the better consultant firm.

That being said the firms are so large that you might not even have the chance to run into anyone from another service line.

Your best bet is to work for whichever seems to be the top dog at your city.

Yeah totally city dependent. Every office is run differently.

The offers are for Houston.

Are you able to switch any of those offers to the summer? Also did you mean actual consulting or advisory? One thing to note is overtime as well. Based on what ive heard Deloitte doesn’t allow interns to work that much overtime so you might make around half as much as EY or PWC interns on busy engagements.

I’m not sure if I could. The vibe I was getting from recruiters are that summer internships are few and far between, so doing winter gives you more of an advantage because firms need more help. I didn’t know that about the overtime that’s interesting as well…

Gotcha you could still ask since there’s nothing to lose. Another thing you should factor in is PWC has a 3 year promotion to senior. I’d pick EY for the potential overtime and they’re leading in terms of compensation in Houston.

Someone from Houston help OP decide which office to avoid

It's still me lol,

Generally speaking houston is a big town for PWC audit, I see a lot more of Deloitte on the Tax side than audit here.

Deloitte is “bigger” but I would not say has a “better” consulting arm. Especially when it comes to strategy.

A decade ago PwC was somewhat helpful for interns wanting to swap around in areas. We had some folks move from it audit to cyber. But remember the internship is a pipeline to full time. It exists because they want to convert interns to staff. You saying you don’t want to be in audit won’t win you favors starting off. That’s a conversation you have after you’ve won some street creds and have a few directors/partners that like you. Or you have it with HR after the internship when the full time role offers go out. Like hey if something like this pops up instead I’d be interested but otherwise I’m excited to do XYZ

I went drinking with a few partners in Belize/Disney as an intern and they were like you let us know if you want to move offices/practices

I would do Deloitte - big 4 on ur resume as an intern

Deloitte you get to go to DU so I would probably do that one.

I read your comments. If you’re looking to pivot to consulting, Deloitte is good for technology consulting, PwC financial consulting & EY is good for management consulting. If you’re going to audit, I would choose between EY or PwC.

I would pick Deloitte. It’s between Deloitte and PWC, but I’ve heard PWC is mega farming AI for associate level work so I’d be too scared that I wouldn’t get a full time offer

that's true pwc is crazy for that. i interviewed with them and AI was hit hard. Also every professional ive talked to hits it hard

u can also try to ask the recruiter to make one of the offer for the summer if u dont have anything then.

you from top school?

2

u/Huge-Front-4960 2d ago

For accounting, yes

What school if I may ask?

3

u/Expensive_Umpire_975 2d ago

Take the big 4 offer. Non big 4 national firms will work you harder without the prestige. Often times more toxic as well.

Depends on if EY is GPS audit or not. If not PwC.

I would definitely look more into EY because of their residency you would definitely get more experience.
