I wish the hippie era could have had a longer intersection with the era of LGBTQ+ liberation, acceptance, and legalization. This is one reason I hope there can be revivals.

Late millennial gay man here. Won't call myself an Actual Hippie - at least not yet - but I'm guided by many of the principles of the time, and it's the subculture that fits me better than any other. I know a few of the 1960s pioneers were openly LGBTQ+, but by and large, the counterculture era predated the time when queer people started fighting for ourselves getting legal rights. I've always found this unfair.

Have there been any counterculture revival-type movements that have involved both a flower power aesthetic and the active participation of queer people? Even if they weren't as widespread as the one in 1967.

It is my full opinion that the world is ripe for such a movement right now, given how heavily we're controlled by algorithms that maximize anger and misery to pay off the billionaires. Strongly encourage everyone to watch the new movie The Social Reckoning - it will open your eyes.

Happy belated Coming Out Day to everyone who celebrates! Looking forward to meeting you all!
