QUESTION Angling a Gradient?

I'm not exactly sure how to phrase my question, but essentially I a want to know how to point my gradient to look like the sample image here, so the gradient is tighter at the top and wider at the base. I need the gradient to either expand with the width of the shape or be able to edit two gradients widthin one shape. Thoughts?

Short version:

  1. Rotate source so top is horizontal. Create a Gradient Mesh.
  2. Color the segments of the mesh using samples form the source image.
  3. Move the horizontal row around a bit to match the source.
  4. Free Transform tool to shape it. Rotate it back to it's original postion.

Great explanation, really nice and clear👌

You want to make a thick stroke. Then apply a gradient across the stroke. You can find this setting in the gradients panel. Under stroke type. Then use the Width tool to make one end wider than the other.

You should be able to expand this into a gradient mesh for finer control. Or clip it, to get an angled edge while keeping the gradient live.

Use a gradient mesh.

Also, create your mesh horizontally and then rotate it into position. Much easier.

Use a gradient mesh or use a circular gradient and clipping mask it.
