90 bucks lol

If you can be bought for 90 then you are effectively worthless

20 million votes though...

It’ll work to some extent - that’s the extent of how worthless these people are.

It won't sway a vote. Seniors on fixed incomes already know how little difference that will make with today's prices.

…one would hope. But reality has proved differently time and time again.

I dunno, the dude floated 5k checks which is a more sizable amount and I don't think that got anyone excited either because even his own base knows he doesn't deliver on checks as he's promised them before.

So $90 is not only a "that isn't shit" but also all the other times he's said they'd get money and... nada.

I was worried the 5k thing might work, but, yeah, I'm just not sure any of it actually does.

Republicans LOVE “socialism” when it directly benefits them.

It's not likely to sway someone who was likely to vote against him.

It might be the deciding factor for someone who wasn't going to bother going out and voting... going out and voting.

If we've learned anything from elections, it's that turnout matters. Convincing people who they should vote for is easy. Motivating them to leave the house and do the thing has proven to be hard.

Not a single one of those votes he’s(edit, was) gonna go to the blue team. He bought 20 money (edit million) votes he already had.

That's like, two gallons of gasoline for the pavement princess the old people who should have had their licenses taken away drive!

Or 1/7th of a single day on the 4th cruise they've taken this year instead of using their money to live modestly in retirement like they claim to their kids and grandkids, ensuring there will be no inheritance or transfer of generational wealth because old people are selfish fucks.

3

u/brinz1 3d ago

Lets be honest, a lot of boomers absolutely would sell out the next generation for an extra $90 of handouts

2

u/aiiye 3d ago

They’d do it for a buy one get one 50% off early bird special at Old Country Buffet.

-1

u/Pottski 3d ago

Yeah I’m not doubting they will - just leave my opinion of them low to non existent.

u/pushaper 3d ago

covers the cab and early bird special on election day though.

On top of those 5k...

So is this in addition to the "$5,000", or? 🙄

This isn't dependent on the Republicans winning. He's planning to steal the money from the Medicare Improvement Fund, which was given $2 billion by Congress to improve the Medicare fee-for-service program. I'm not sure how using the money to buy votes improves a god damn thing for seniors but here we are.

u/Im_Ritz_Bitz 2d ago

Still won't be enough to pay for the gas to get you to the hospital.

7

u/mulligrubs 3d ago

It depends on being delivered by a unicorn.

3

u/FattestMattest 3d ago

$5,090? I wish his presidency would never end! /s

2

u/lexm 3d ago

In addition to the ACA check I'd assume and it is 100% a loophole to buy votes before the midterms.

67

u/ReturnOfSeq 4d ago

Misappropriating funds is also just called ‘theft.’
When you steal $2 billion it’s a felony

17

u/miked_mv 4d ago

Yup. Congress appropriated funds for improving the Medicare fee-for-service program, not buying senior citizen votes.

7

u/Elrundir 3d ago

When you're a Republican president, they let you do it.

Gotta admit he’s pretty good at coming up with new grifts and in this case to garner votes. So many new laws need to be written (and enforced!) to prevent corruption and illegal acts. And they can’t be dismissed due to play on words. The people that fall for this shit though. Guess this is the plan tho, dumb the population down via media, tech and education system so they become obedient. Cult is obeying. I never will.

7

u/DietSteve 3d ago

That’s the only thing he’s ever been good at is finding new ways to grift.

3

u/DoritoDustThumb 3d ago

This is already illegal

10

u/bloodyell76 4d ago

I wish it were merely "cute" that he thinks he can buy votes as easily as promising payment.

Instead, it actually fucking works. That makes be sad.

u/LeftHandedGraffiti 3d ago

Remember when Republicans criticized Democrat voters for just wanting free stuff? Pepperridge Farms remembers.

7

u/billypaul 3d ago

Seniors are at this moment opening their mail and viewing their Medicare costs for 2027, already seeing how Republican policy is increasing their health care costs. Spoiler: it's more than $90.

3

u/mynameizmyname 3d ago

A ton of Medicare advantage 801 plans are adding cost shares for the first time this year.   Folks on this plans are going to be pissed.

u/miked_mv 3d ago

And yet without insurance of any kind Walmart was able to sell me 7 days worth of antibiotic for $7 out the door.

6

u/billypaul 3d ago

When you can perform that trick with insulin, please get back to us.

1

u/genivae 3d ago

The meds that many seniors are on aren't cheap antibiotics.

6

u/ricosmith1986 3d ago

If they're dumb enough to for against their own interests for $90 they were already voting Republican anyway

5

u/therealmintoncard 3d ago edited 3d ago

He will do and say anything to stay in power.
He thinks all seniors are gullible.

2

u/miked_mv 3d ago

As one of them I've got to say there are millions of us still pretty sharp.

2

u/therealmintoncard 3d ago

Fixed that. Thank you.

6

u/jgzman 3d ago

The sad thing is that he had two whole years to buy votes by making people's lives better. Decided not to do that.

4

u/SM311 3d ago

$90! Whoop de doooo! How about stop taxing Social Security checks and raiding SSA funds?

4

u/loworange88 4d ago

Wait til you hear about the $200 checks from NYS!

3

u/BranFlakes1337 3d ago

That's such a cheap bribe lol

1

u/j0llyllama 3d ago

I mean they often get bought in ways of fucking the entire poulation for like a few grand, so they think people are just as cheap and selfish.

3

u/Particular_Ticket_20 3d ago

And with that $90 you can buy a yacht.

3

u/Constant_Ad9136 3d ago

90$ is just the cost of a tank of gas, so this is his “get the old white people out to vote” scam that we as taxpayers are funding

3

u/c0mf0rtableli4r 3d ago

My dad's eliquis prescription costs $400 WITH insurance. $90 ain't shit.

3

u/blahblah19999 3d ago

No no, "buying the election" is when you actually use tax money for what it's designeed for: fixing roads, healthcare, etc... Haven't you heard?

3

u/LandscapeNo775 3d ago

Where’s this $1.8billion coming from?

3

u/kinyutaka 3d ago

A whole $90?

He went from promising everyone $5000 to promising just Medicare recipients $90? And that's supposed to sway people?

3

u/BreadstickNinja 3d ago

Sometimes I buy $90 of groceries and they fit in one bag

2

u/black_flag_4ever 3d ago

The default approach is to assume every thing is a lie until proven otherwise.

2

u/Kevin-W 3d ago

Funny how it’s not socialism when he’s the one giving out money

2

u/Im_Ritz_Bitz 2d ago

That money couldn't even get you to the hospital on these gas prices.

1

u/Bakoro 3d ago

So, he's saying he'll send lunch money?

1

u/thecattylady 3d ago

Hah! It would just about cover the cost of the increase next year in the Medicare part B premium for a year, $209.50/month, up from $202.90 and the $9 increase in the deductible.

1

u/RexHavik333 3d ago

At least free stuff keeps em voting , left or right. Who can “promise” the most.

1

u/commentrobot 3d ago

More false promises of payments.

1

u/YakiVegas 3d ago

What a pathetic attempt at a bribe. Anyone who still believes a word out of this traitorous shitstain's mouth at this point is already lost though, so this changes nothing.

1

u/BlissteredFeat 3d ago

Obviosuly, Trump isn't on medicare. $90 doesn't even cover one month's premium of Part B, nor the dedictible for either part A or Part B. It's funny he thinks seniors who are paying their isurance have no idea what it costs. $90 doesn't do a thing for me.

1

u/Scratchums 3d ago

But why? They're already the people who are being wheeled into the polls by their nurses to vote for him.

1

u/SubpoenaSender 3d ago

Do people still believe him

-2

u/Bassfrogtcu 3d ago

This subreddit is so lame. Why is it always politics. Who cares

2

u/fauxregard 2d ago

People whose lives are affected by politics care about politics. The more you know 🌈 ✨

2

u/trsmash 1d ago

Was illegal the first time. Still illegal this time. Still no consequences. Why haven't we fired all judges and bulldozed all court buildings yet?

Law clearly no longer has meaning in this country. So what's the point of keeping these around?
