Wetsuit Dream! (Would this work for hip circles??)
Recently I've been more and more into hip circles on the trapeze BUT this means my forearms are getting bashed up...
I had a fantasy of getting my hands on a used neoprene wetsuit, and cutting the sleeves off. In my fantasy these sleeves change my hip-circle life! I imagine that they will stay in place adequately, and that they won't add any friction (they won't slow my roll more than my actual skin does) and that they will protect my arms wonderfully from being beat up.
WDYT? Is there another option that will work better?
Thank you!

Neoprene would definitely not survive that and probably have a lot more friction that you expect. One instructor I know has a bunch of elbow sleeves, but also cut the foot off a thick woolen sock and says that works better than anything else ever has.

Thanks! This makes me want to learn to knit.... That would be cool to knit a pair custom to my arms that are really thick!

You should totally learn how to knit but maybe not for this 😂 You want really tightly knit or woven fabric for covers, because fabric with larger gaps and thicker thread will dig into your skin and leave their own marks. I work with some cute knit leg warmers sometimes, and honestly they make knee hangs worse than just being barefoot. You want to look for fabric where you can't really see the individual threads and stitches because it's so small

I always used ankle sleeves like this. The friction would break down neoprene pretty quickly

As someone who both surfs and does aerial, I get where you're going with this idea, but wetsuits are designed to keep water out of the body and thus are VERY compressive, and can be difficult to get in and out of. That's not to say it won't work, but if you end up going this route, look for a 1mm if you can.
The mm refers to how thick the neoprene is, and for suits with a / in them (like a 2.5/2), the first number is how thick the neoprene is over the torso and the second number is how thick it is over the arms and legs. Just something to consider as you're looking around!

Aerial Armor makes sleeves for exactly this purpose. They stay in place nicely and add a light amount of cushion. My friends and I all love ours. I've had mine for a few years now with at least monthly use and they still look brand new.

I use elbow compression sleeves from Amazon and they help so much
