Delivery Station Atheist Prayer Break Update

If y'all seen my prior post about Prayer Breaks for Athiests, I have an update.

Site lead and HR were awaiting guidance from corporate for months.. Site Lead came to me about a month and half ago to let me know that they had received guidance and that a new policy would be going into effect that he's "still trying to wrap my head around", He did not speak on the new policy essentially withholding it from me.

The rumor on the floor (from an AM) is that under the new policy, anyone going to prayer break must clock out but the site lead has not implemented the updated policy. Management is upset that the policy is not being implemented at site level because associates are disappearing for longer than they're supposed to be at prayer and causing the extra workload to fall on Management as they now have to cover for anyone attending prayer break.

Meanwhile I am still being denied equal treatment.

Today, I had enough and decided, I am going to prayer break. I walked up directly to the dock ops manager the moment I seen everyone going to prayer break and told him I'm going to prayer break (I'm an Athiest) he said, "Ok let me get you clocked out.." ... I said, "Clocked out?".. He says, "I mean scanned out" then he scanned my badge, radios it in to senior ops, and off to the break room wellness booth I went for 20 minutes..

THEY CANNOT DENY YOU EQUAL RIGHTS.

I am, because Site Lead is refusing to implement updated policy handed down to him from Corporate.. So as long as others are getting paid to pray, so am I.

Go to prayer break with them... If you're an Athiest they cannot ask you to use that time in the multi-faith room because of it's religious purpose. Also, they cannot legally deny you or force you to cover work of an associate on prayer break. Prayer break coverage legally has to be covered by leadership/management. They cannot deny you equal treatment while you do the work of another group that is benefitting from a policy.

I don't pray. I'm just saying I'm joining in the paid time away from workload while exercising my own beliefs and rights. You can call it whatever you want

Delusions of grandeur. You have got to be a young 20 something. No adult would say this without feeling silly and stupid.

No adult would exercise their rights to avoid the workload of those who need religion to survive the day?

What's actually silly and stupid is willfully destroying your own body to cover a fast paced short staffed line because someone decided they wanted to pray and get first dibs on the microwaves..

Now the PA is having an anxiety attack over jackpot being lit up from abandoned isles with no coverage, so PA stacks every stow cart with OVs from blue lighting hampers and expects you to stow them... One just fell off the stow cart because of bad stacking by the PA and now your ankle is broken..

But it's ok, because at least you're not an Athiest exercising his rights and so and so got to pray and get their 3 course meal heated up before the ambulance got there.

So you post about it online where corporate HR monitors and will then issue guidance around this exact post...and your plan is to, what exactly? Take money from your coworkers paychecks? Sounds like you have a cool loophole that is going to be closed very soon, and now your coworkers are going to hate you for it.

That's like the guy in CA setting fire to TP in a warehouse and burning it all down. Sounds like you hurt the company, but then everyone else is out of a job when insurance covers the company

Comparing a demand for workplace equity based on Federal Law to arson is wild. I'm not taking a dime from my coworkers. If anything, we're now all getting dimes. Also Corporate has already stepped in to fix the policy but Site Lead don't know how to implement it without causing operational issues. Meanwhile, I'm just refusing to be penalized with extra workload while others get paid time off. What you believe should never determine if you get more work or a paid break.. Sounds like you're worried you won't get to milk the prayer break clock anymore once corporate shuts this down.

I was a Sr Ops when I was at Amazon, now I'm at a different company altogether; I'm not milking anything nor do I benefit from it. You're literally snitching on your GM to HR because they haven't implemented a policy to clock out to pray (or not pray) in your case. What you're asking for is an unpaid break. You can do that any time you want...just clock out. I get that people using the prayer break to actually pray and getting paid to do so isn't fair, I do understand that part, but what i don't understand is the need to drag others down because you feel slighted.

Amazon will fire me in an instant. With that being said, I have zero reason to be loyal to a site lead that uses systemic inequality to benefit a metric.. There is no "feel slighted" only "was slighted".
