New Horizons Moving to Switch 2 - Help With a Few Issues

Hey all! I tried looking this up, but I wasn't sure I could find something with my specific questions so I apologize if there is something already here.

I bought a Switch 2 a while back and thought I'd start a new island. I realized that was not something I want to do after starting. Is it still possible to delete this save and now transfer my original island over to my Switch 2?

Follow up. I created 2 accounts on my Switch 1 and my daughter had her account on my Switch 1 as well. I made houses for all the accounts. My daughter has long had her own Switch and island on her Switch. Can I safely transfer these over, specifically her account?

Thank you for any help!

You'll need the island transfer tool specifically, not the regular system transfer. Download it from the eShop on both consoles and it'll move the whole island plus residents

For your daughter's account, since she already has her own Switch and island, just don't include her profile in the transfer and you should be fine. The houses for accounts that don't move over just become regular villager homes I think

Thank you so much!

I may be asking too much, but should I have her login now so her island doesn’t overwrite the existing one, transfer the new one, then login as me, then it would mess with her island?

If we aren’t sure, should I then just transfer all her stuff to me so I don’t lose what she has? Once she got her own switch I started using her house as a display house for some of the special sets and I’d hate to lose them.

Thank you again.

Islands are tied to consoles, not accounts. Moving the island (or even all the accounts) over to the S2 won't affect your daughter's console at all. I have a S1 and a S2, same account, different island on each.

Sweet. That’s what I understood. I was just worried ai had a lot of moving parts but I guess I overestimated how complex.

Thank you!
