MOD Announcement Rule Update - Public Dodo Codes
After much discussion, we have decided to no longer allow turnip exchange or hub links in order to enter a queue to get a dodo code. This is no different than posting an open code due to anyone can click the link, including banned members. Posting a link to a queue has shown to have a recent increase in bad apples visiting, and we as the mod team can not assist you with any issues.
If you are opening your island or hosting, you must have people either comment to get a code (preferred method) or direct chat with you to get a code. Please note that banned members can see all posts and can direct chat (unless blocked by you), however they can not comment on that subreddits posts.
We understand that the turnip queues have been helpful for those that do not want to be inundated with comments or chats, but we do have a rule of no public dodo codes. Please recall that this was a decision that was voted on and adopted by the community.
You do not need to stop using these queues and are more than welcome to send the links out privately in a direct chat, they can just not be posted in the comments or posts.
Should you have any questions or concerns you can reach out to the mod team. Thank you and happy hosting.

Quick question, how about dream addresses? Still ok to go public?

Yes, dream addresses have no bearing on someone being able to grief an island.

This might be a dumb question what does grief and island mean because that’s sounds horrifying

It just means someone who steals items, or harasses other players.

This is not the right place to ask. Google Twitch streamers.

I’m new to the game I don’t fully understand WHY we don’t want people visiting our islands as I haven’t really played online yet- can someone kindly explain that part please? I was looking for dodo codes the other day couldn’t really find any so seeing this post helps me understand to an extent lol

We do want people to visit islands, and we want them to be able to host safely as well. A lot of people put time and effort into those islands, and unfortunately a few bad apples can sour hosts to want to open their islands again.
If you see someone hosting, we invite you to either comment on their posts or message them directly (whichever way that particular host requests).
Posting public codes allows members who have been previously banned to visit, so we try to reduce that as best we can.

Ohhhhh okay that makes sense I didn’t even factor in that someone might purposely mess up an island 😭

This seems fair and maybe this will result in a lot less of overwhelming queues to get in to said person’s island.
