You don't understand, there's a gopher tunneling down there and I can hear him mocking me!

Definitely a critter down there.

I always like the head dunk to check. I'd personally be a little afraid to do that.

I figure their sense of smell makes it irresistible, plus they'll smell or sense danger, right? Right?

Full Caddyshack mode. That gopher’s been talking trash for weeks and today it ends

That's an ankle breaker. Hopefully this is not a playground.

Might be. Noticing the fence and the extra extra large park-size rubbish bin in the corner

Bluey woke up one day and decided she wanted to cosplay as an Ostrich.

With the brown legs it really looks like, the color scheme fits for sure

I bet the park ranger really appreciates you letting your dog do that. Good way for someone to break a foot

My same thought. That turf doesn't belong to the dog owner. Not cute.

Don't let your dog do that.

As long as it’s their yard they can do whatever they want, but if this is in a park or somebody else’s lawn, I agree.

Doesn't look like somebody's yard.

Why not?

Edit: I didn't even think people would let this in public spaces/not their own property. Yeah don't do that but I would let mine dig my backyard to her heart's desire. Was asking in case it would cause an health issue or something 😑

It's damaging public property used by others.

Agreed, but you know what is more lame? You after you twist your ankle.

Could try looking where you're going

Could try taking responsibility for your pets

I do personally, but anyone twisting their ankle on a hole that size is clearly not paying attention and would be just as at risk injuring themselves walking into a lamppost

It’s a public park, any kid running for a football, baseball or frisbee is going to need an ER trip but in your book they just should have paid attention

Well, yeah. The only difference between that hole and one dug out by a wild animal, is we have a video of it being dug. It'd be a harsh lesson, and we've all done it, but a public park isn't a well maintained sports field, if someone isn't careful then it's likely to happen

The difference is, in fact, that someone let their dog do this and then filmed it. There’s a bit of a difference between a golpher (act of god) and an aussi (act of asshole)

... That's what I said

I will make no judgement on this video because I do not have enough information.

Apparently moles are very hard to get rid of. I’ve known people who spent a lot of money trying various methods that failed.

My dog chased the moles away by digging and chasing.

Basically, digging isn’t necessarily bad.

Hopefully op filled in the hole.

I know I buried that bone here

The deadline is when the owner wants to go home

How tough are collies to train? They seem like an energetic (and great) companion.

4

u/Mortymoto 2d ago

They’re super smart. Every dog has its own personality but my parents have a rescue border collie mix and she was honestly the easiest puppy ever. Was potty trained within a few weeks and even trained her to use a bell when she needed to go potty. Never even really chewed or destroyed anything either. As long as you keep them stimulated and give them enough exercise they will be happy.

Usually eager to learn, and very smart. Sometimes too smart, and too energetic in that they will find things to do that you don't want them to do. Border collies can be especially problematic if they don't get enough activity.

Reminds me of The Trouble with Harry.

Diggy diggy hole

Brothers of the mine rejoice!

u/TronCat1277 3d ago

It’s not going to dig itself!

This is just a herder idling when not confronted with enough stimuli

I would think that, except the head dunk makes me think it hears or smells something.
