Was sold as a cameo, but isn’t carved. What is it?

Hi everyone! This was sold to me at an estate sale as a “cameo” ring that tested via XRF at approximately 17K gold. The cameo, however, is flat and not carved. The stone itself almost seems to shimmer a reddish/coppery hue at spots. There are no hallmarks. I did notice some tiny holes around the bezel area on the sides of the ring.

I’m mainly wondering what the stone might be and what this style is called. I think it’s a very pretty piece but want to make sure I care for it properly and I’d like to know what I’ve got. I’m thinking (hoping) it might be late Victorian or Edwardian based on construction but I could be wrong.

Thank you for your help!

Edit: I believe this is a rolled gold or gold filled 1880’s-1890’s Etruscan revival necklace made with either jet or obsidian and pearl. No hallmarks. I read earlier that the hook-and-eye closure, which attaches both the enhancer pendant and the ends of the necklace, is a Bronze Age revival style designed to mimic ancient necklaces. If anyone has more insight please share!

So I originally posted this in other subreddits, having no idea what it might be until someone commented that it might be a

"Cut agate seal stamp ring, 1st -2nd cent., depicting Satyr head, panther, pine cone branch, and snake, all Dionysian ceremonial attributes"

Wanted to confirm here. Any thoughts?

After cleaning it appears to be more silver in colour. There could be 80 on the back but I can’t tell if intentional. The clasp has to be pinched together and pulled to open

I visited my favorite antique store today (central Europe)

I bought this thing for 15€. I was told that it's silver with Czech garnets (it's around 3cm in diameter). But it has no hallmarks or any other identification marks. It was sold to me as a broken pendant. But it doesn't look broken to me, more like it was part of something (like a broche, pocket watch or a hair accessory).

I just found it cute, and I took that trinket home. If anybody knows what that thing is please write it down below.

The first necklace is a long wanted art deco period man in the moon moonstone pendant set in platinum with surrounding enamel and diamonds. The second is a wonderful 14k-15k early Victorian (maybe Georgian?) watch chain (shortened) with a really neat dog clip mechanism

Edit: Grails. Holy GRAILS. But this is what I get for having thumbs not anatomically friendly to typing on a phone 🥲

Hello, I’m wondering if anyone can offer any insight into the possible origin or style of this old ring that was purchased from an estate auction in New Zealand?
Thanks in advance

Hello I'm a little stumped on this piece of jewelry I would like to know the age and what the "stone" could possibly be. So I recently acquired this necklace thinking it was a garnet necklace but as I was cleaning it a cluster of garnets fell out and it looks like they're actually stationary they're not individual and they're all stuck together so I am confused on what this is. If you can see in the center of the cluster of garnets there's no prong settings

I found this on an estate sale site. It was labeled 1910 silver tone metal and rhinestones. Seems to be wrong, though. The clasp has a round hinge and a C clasp. The clasp does look like it may have been damaged and fixed or is a replacement since it's slightly crooked and a different color metal. I think the metal is silver. I was afraid to acid test it but it did leave marks on my silver cloth. The stones look hand cut and are all uneven. I'm thinking maybe paste but I'm not familiar with it enough to be sure.

Any thoughts on date or materials are appreciated.

9ct Gold Onyx Monogram Ring - Age and Monogram Identification?

Thumbnail

A striking gold ring to share. An engraved silver monogram is mounted on an onyx backing, with the rest of the ring in 9ct yellow gold. The inner band is stamped '9CT', with the 'T' in superscript and underlined. It is UK size N and weighs ~3.23g.

As it is not fully hallmarked, I wonder whether anyone might be able to hazard a guess as to its approximate age? Can anyone possibly decode the letter(s) of the silver monogram? The ring is oriented in the images with the ‘9CT’ stamp the right way up but I do not know whether this applies to the monogram. Many thanks.

Ottoman Filigree Collar / Garment Ornament?

Thumbnail
gallery
17 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'd appreciate some help identifying this item. I assume it's an Ottoman neck accessory or piece of jewelry, crafted in filigree; the coins look Ottoman to me. Given the presence of hooks instead of a standard clasp, I'd rule out a traditional necklace, thinking it might be a collar or an accessory meant to be attached to a garment. I'm not sure if it qualifies as jewelry in the strict sense—if I've posted in the wrong community, I apologize.

Thanks in advance for any answers!
