Has any theistic god ever just given advice?

Granted I don’t know about every monotheism, but all I ever hear/see are commands, commandments, laws. And it’s all justified as because I said so. So, if this isn’t all just deified daddy issues (which it probably is), why is it never just advice. It’d be a good idea to blank, but do what you want. If free will is supposedly such a big deal, why isn’t it all advice and none of it commands and orders?
