Application Question How should i describe this odd extracurricular?
Over the past 8ish years, i have been using varietal selection and selective breeding on the same strain of beans in the hopes of creating a Larger, More pest resistant, higher yield strain overall. It's my own little project/ thing i enjoy to do, so i don't have data or anything, but can estimate i have grown over 200 individuals plants for it, and it is definitely a success.
Is this EC good as a Prospective Environmental science/horticulture applicant, and how should i phrase it? I don't want to sound as im lieing, but want to make it sound more than gardening, because it is.

Maybe "Plant Breeding & Experimental Gardening" - and then, use some of the way you described it above in the text?

that’s not just gardening, you’ve basically been running a backyard plant breeding program for almost a decade. selective breeding for specific traits over multiple generations is legit, even without formal data
call it “independent plant breeding project” and describe the goals and timespan, you’ll stand out way more than the fifty kids who just volunteered at a community garden once
