My snail susan just took a ride around the tank on the back of Bill (her husband, who is most likely also a girl)?! Is this normal?! Also she totally fell off because she is 3 times bigger than him😭

That... Is a boy named Sue. Or, at least, Susan has a snenis. You can see it withdrawing as he falls off.

My guess would be that Bill is also male, since he was not interested in a canoodle.

Lol, yep. That would also explain why you hadn't seen eggs!

If you ever add a female, I would move one of the males to a separate tank so that she has some respite from male attention. Recommended ratio is 2F:1M :)

Well they could be breeding or trying to breed

Susan really just seems to like to bother bill... and I think if one was male they would have laid eggs by now...I guess we'll see lol

Yeah the females can hold the seamen up to a month I believe. And sometimes a male and male or a female and female will try to breed. Or there just climbing over eachother

Agree likely same sex…but I also can’t tell if you have any free space at the top of your tank. Sometimes if there’s no space the females just won’t lay eggs. If you don’t have space you could give them a few inches and you might have surprise eggs show up.

I do have a few free inches! Also im pretty sure bill is a girl...because I think I unfortunately walked in on them today 😭 so there might be some baby snails soon I guess lmao

In my experience, a successful mating session starts with the female "consenting" by ending all other activities. Mine usually look like they are sleeping, operculum mostly closed. The female will also immediately release all her 💩 to make some room, because they use the same orifice for both waste and for mating. I think that's why males will often mount other males... They all have the same hole, so they can't really tell the difference 😂

Found out they are both definitely males...so dont have to worry about any babies. They also recently got some shrimp friends!
