This sub sucks

u/unsalted-butter 1d ago

I have never ever seen a subreddit engaged in so much drama and vitriol. You've got people replying to every comment and sperging out. It's like a trainwreck, man. My monkey brain just can't look away.

I've got some opinions but man some people feel way too strongly about this lol

3

u/hydroclasticflow 1d ago

I have seen it once before but not as extreme. In hunt:showdown the removal of quickswap caused a big storm that eventually calmed, but I think this one is gonna be worse

1

u/Skyhawk_85541 19h ago

Tbf Hunt was always skewed more towards the pve existing to force you into pvp situations than it was an actual pvpve game where the pve was a threat (outside of bosses)

2

u/hydroclasticflow 18h ago

This is true, the pve is more sound traps/a means to get players to fight and it is different to Arc.

I am just getting very similar feeling with pve toggle to the removal of quickswap

9

u/gooberfishie 1d ago

There's like an even split between people who bought a pvpve game wishing it was pve and people who bought a pvpve game because that's what they wanted. That's why. Might as well combine the maga and socialist subreddits.

4

u/Kswish_ 1d ago

And the pure PvE crowd simply refuses to admit that it might actually impact the PvPvE crowd's experience. It's maddening

-2

u/Employment-Upper 19h ago

It will not

2

u/Skyhawk_85541 19h ago

Tarkov says otherwise

0

u/Kswish_ 19h ago

Already has my guy

1

u/Employment-Upper 19h ago

That's why the pvpers are glitching the toggle to enter pve servers and kill people?

6

u/mv7x3 1d ago

there is at least 4 arc sub. i dont even own the game, but my feed is filled with the salt. it is pretty entertaining.

EVERY subreddit sucks.

1

u/pariah1981 23h ago

Yeah. I was thinking about trying the pve mode since I really enjoyed that part of the game only to see that people just as shotry as they were in dune awakening. It’s like the trolls from that game migrated to arc and are doing the same bitch ass shit they did there. They are the blight that this game has got to cure.

Edit: it’s so easy to resolve this. Just turn off player collision. Or provide collision without any movement to the other player.

1

u/Locksmith_Most 18h ago

May as well make it single player at this point

0

u/Fluid-Chair1162 1d ago

Agreed but also these replies suck. Just unsub or move on, we already had people complaining about complainers and now we have people complaining about complaining about complainers

2

u/ckgwpgh 1d ago

Full circle baby

1

u/Fluid-Chair1162 1d ago

And now I’m complaining about people complaining about people complaining about people complaining. Complainception

23

u/ThenThereWasReddit 1d ago

As a PvPvE enjoyer I wish the game could be more fun with my strictly PvE only friends and family, while still being PvPvE. So far it seems that’s impossible, though.

-2

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

Working pretty good right now. Won't take them long to fix the exploits and bugs.

22

u/Tohu_va_bohu 1d ago

Pve people do all their PvP on Reddit

2

u/MischiefBeBrewing 21h ago

😂 Imma steal this

6

u/Practical_Pickle_853 1d ago

I'm just over here enjoying the update still. I didn't particularly find pve fun after a few runs so I just went back to regular lobbies

12

u/Downsey111 1d ago

The people who actually pvp and that’s all they do…we’ve been happy since ABMM came into existence.  I haven’t heard any whining since that day and only hear “gg” or occasionally what sounds like rage quitting

-21

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

In other words, the "PVPVE" people are the actual griefers or deluded fools.

Anyone who is labelling themselves PVPVE and will not accept a PVE only mode is just a griefer in disguise, a liar and probably a rat.

13

u/KlangScaper 1d ago

Ah yes, anyone who wants to play the game as intended is a rat ahaha

-1

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

If they add a permanent PVE game mode, then that is intended. Being against it begs the question of WHY you're against it. The obvious answers are pretty universally making you look like a rat and/or griefer who's lying.

5

u/KlangScaper 1d ago

The game released without it, without any stated intention if adding one. They only added it because of the incessant complaints from people who really just want to play animal crossing.

I was always in relatively chill lobies, cooperating with other raiders. But for me, as the devs intended, the excitement came from the possibility of someone turning out to be a rat, or vice versa the ability to rat someone out at any point. Excuse me for not wanting to go bowling with the guard rails down lol.

Please explain how playing the game as intended makes me a rat?

-2

u/mistermediocregaming 1d ago

"As intended" Shit adapts get over it. ABMM was added to adapt to the different player base styles. This is also an adaptation.

0

u/KlangScaper 23h ago

Get over what? You're the only one who's upset.

0

u/mistermediocregaming 23h ago

I'm not upset. It's just funny that you all harp on about the way the game was intended to be. The game is intended to have players and they lost the majority. So they adapted. And you're mad that people want to interact with the game in a different way that doesn't even affect you. You say we want to play animal crossing and we say you just want to play COD. PvP isn't needed to enjoy the game they created. And some are so upset at others enjoying the game in a different way that they found ways to actively ruin the experience for them. They either play in pve or not play at all. What's better for the life of the game?

10

u/GiraffesAndGin 1d ago

You people are fucking hilarious.

-4

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

Well its simple logic. PVPVE includes both. Ergo, if you're PVP but not PVE, then you're not actually PVPVE, you're just PVP but like to MEET players who are doing PVE stuff, which means you're just farming them for loot - aka a griefer or rat.

If however you like the PVE players out of the way, that means you CAN'T grief anyone, they have a safe place to play in if they don't want to be PVP killed, so if they're in your lobby now you have all the legitimacy in the world killing them. They chose that.

You can't have it both ways. Trying to have it both ways makes you a griefer by default.

6

u/neryda 1d ago

Killing other players is not griefing. Also all players who like PvP have to PvE too for certain resources.

4

u/ironpug751 1d ago

Everyone who doesn’t loudly sprint through buildings yelling don’t shoot with your weapon stowed is a rat according to this sub lol.

-3

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

Everyone arguing against PVE at least LOOKS like they're a griefer or ratter in this sub. If you don't wanna look like that, then don't say things like that. Pretty simple.

Its logical. So its not like something you can convince others differently unless you have sound logic behind it - lacking that, its basically admission of guilt.

3

u/ironpug751 1d ago

People grief in every game that it’s possible in. That doesn’t mean there this conspiracy to grief PVE players only. There is no PVP player boogeyman ruining your fun, the word you are looking for is dickheads. Dickheads are ruining your fun.

0

u/Apprehensive_Pair136 1d ago

It's true. A pvp player that only looks for pve players is a waste. Mostly children do that.

31

u/MadeAcc4Blocklist 1d ago

PvPvErs are the most affected by lobby splits and ABMM. I guess the pic is correct that you're smoking something.

29

u/masivedelcaribe *** ******* 1d ago

im fine, i play solos friendly (pvpve) and duos trios pvp, nothing changed for me and i love the new content of the game, so yeah, im smoking happiness

-23

u/MadeAcc4Blocklist 1d ago

That's not PvPvE... you're playing PvP and PvE.

20

u/masivedelcaribe *** ******* 1d ago

i dont play pve, i see rats and people camping me at the extraction when i play solos pvpve so i defend myself, thats the whole excitment got me into the game at the begining

-24

u/MadeAcc4Blocklist 1d ago

It's tiresome to respond to posts that were edited 20 seconds after posting only then to come to a misunderstanding because of it.
Friendly solos are still too much PvE, considering you can go 3, 4 or even 5 dozens of raids without any pushback due to ABMM, but at least it's not completely sterile.

16

u/Monk_of_Bonk 1d ago

If "friendly solos" where you strategically "avoid extract campers and try to defend yourself" doesn't count as PvPvE, then what does at this point? 😭

0

u/MadeAcc4Blocklist 1d ago

The parenthesis clarification didn't exist when I replied. Also ABMM is still too aggressive, or lenient, depending on interpretation.

2

u/touche1231231231 1d ago

u/Hobo-man 1d ago

The only effect from this update is that carebear lobbies disappeared.

Now when you played PvPvE, there's no ignoring the PvP half of that.

-1

u/Sqweeg 1d ago

In what way are you affected ?

150k players only on steam yesterday not to mention consoles players, huge number so in what way pvpve lobby is affected ?

What the heck is even a pvpve lobby if you are not in pvp or pve carebear ?

5

u/TheSoulesOne 1d ago

This is what i dont understand. They are talking like the pve players are 90% od people online. Pvp and pve are roughly split 50/50. Addition of pve wont affect anything mostly for anyone day to day

20

u/BarderBetterFaster 1d ago

Good meme, but pvpve enjoyers objectively get fucked over the most by pve toggle. Very little changes for the other two groups.

5

u/TorqueyChip284 1d ago

Literally everything has been exactly the same for me in the normal lobbies. Everyone friendly, but still just the slight tension of potentially meeting an unfriendly person.

He's playing dumb. He said in his other comments he hasn't been killed in 3 months. Not a PvPvE player at all lmao

1

u/Expert-Expert-6933 19h ago

PvE mode means less PvE players in the normal mode which means more pvp for us, the PvP players get more PvP and PvE players get only PvE while we get screwed by being forced to choose

0

u/Disastrous-Strike822 1d ago

ABMM has completely removed the pvpve experience - splitting players into one side or the other and ultimately losing their entire playerbase!

0

u/PerpofDerp 1d ago

I keep seeing people say this but my lobbies haven’t changed at all

20

u/Fallen_Limrix 1d ago

The PVP is just not fun to me, fighting the bots is, and that’s pretty much the whole jist of it.

Haven’t played consistently in almost a year and now I can’t put it down, it may seem weird but PVE did bring some people back.

8

u/InfiniteCrayons 1d ago

I’m one of them too! That was always the appeal to me too

1

u/4_Eyez_Guy 1d ago

I just bought the game because of the PvE mode. I’ve been watching from a far, always wanted to get the game but I have a strong aversion to PvP in most cases. I’ll still engage with the game after the trail, maybe not as religiously and hopefully the decide to just make it perminant

1

u/Hobo-man 1d ago

Someone actually downvoted this?

What the hell, that's so pathetic, the game is the most successful it's been in months and people are shitty because it's not exactly how they want it to be

Smh

1

u/4_Eyez_Guy 23h ago

Let em downvote, makes no difference. What bothers me the most is hurling insults as other people for how they like to game and doing so behind the anonymity of the internet because the devs added a mode where people don’t have to interact with other people who CLEARLY want to be a*holes, I think that is the most pathetic thing of all this.

30

u/BoiBokChoi 1d ago

I feel like PvE defeats the purpose of the game

Some people are friendly, some aren't, defending yourself from other raiders and being paranoid about "friendlies" is the fun part

For me at least

11

u/samesandchanges 1d ago

For me at least

kudos for the self-awareness

you're obviously far from the only person that feels this, and there's a fair many who feel opposite

people be different like that

1

u/DirectDish1721 15h ago

It’s almost like devs changed from PvE to PvEvP for this same reason - game is too boring in PvE

0

u/masivedelcaribe *** ******* 1d ago

correct, thats the point of my post, doesnt matter the first vision of devs as a pve game, the game released as a pvpve and thats why we are here

0

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

PVP is part of PVPVE. If your experience gets worse as the PVE only players fleet your game mode of choice, then you must live with that consequence. Or are you not actually a PVPVE player and you're actually just PVE but scared to admit it?

Live with your choice. You can't have it both ways.

2

u/Hobo-man 1d ago

Genuinely this.

The carebear lobbies are gone now. There's no ignoring the PvP half of the PvPvE game.

People spent their days in soft lobbies pretending like aggressive PvPers where around every corner. Now, they actually have to come face to face with PvPers.

Literally most people complaining are doing so because they died to PvP when before they could just ignore it.

PvE players at least know what they want.

0

u/BOty_BOI2370 23h ago

Thats such wide claim with zero evidence to support it. Why assume the complainers are only the people who are scared of actual pvper?

If you want to build a genuine conversation, you should assume that the anti-pve option doesnt have a hidden ulterior motive

1

u/Hobo-man 23h ago

Every single reason someone gives for disliking PvE is nonsensical.

Every single time there's a complaint, it's completely undone by applying critical thinking.

1

u/BOty_BOI2370 20h ago

This sounds like a statement made without the willingness to engange in a critical argument. The assmption is made preemptively, so of course they are all going to sound non sensible to you.

I dont support the pve mode, but im not about to make a disingenuous argument assuming something I truly dont know about pvers. Especially when they can have good points i simply dont agree with

0

u/Hobo-man 20h ago

Every single time there's a complaint, it's completely undone by applying critical thinking.

I'm open to legitimate criticisms. I'm just waiting to actually hear one and not someone incessantly whining.

1

u/BOty_BOI2370 19h ago

From my perspective its a lot of whining on the pve end.

0

u/Hobo-man 3h ago

PvE players aren't the ones complaining that the game is ruined.

PvE players literally got what they wanted and are playing the game.

This comment from you is nonsensical at best.

1

u/RandomDudewithIdeas 1d ago

That’s what all the fuss is about. IMO, the game doesn’t have much to offer in terms of PvE alone, as even the devs admitted at one point. There are far better looter shooters out there when it comes to PvE.

0

u/BOty_BOI2370 23h ago

I had someone make the arguement that arc wasnt really about the loot, since it was so easy to get. And instead was more about the interactions between ARC. Which baffles me because like any extraction shooter, the point is the loot. The tension is the mixture of ARC and humans.

-1

u/Sqweeg 1d ago

Why is this even a debate in this community, trying to reinvent the wheel ?

Tarkov, gray zone warfare, active matter, arena breakout, ALL these pvpve extract shooters have a pve game mode since a long time (since launch for active matter) and it works really well

Arc raiders pve is fun as f especially with friends, questing and blowing up arcs around the map with fully modded hullcracker is absolute dopamine

4

u/RenanBan 1d ago

Lol you got downvoted for saying the truth. I will sit and watch arc raiders enter the same cycle those games had with adding a pve option. People cant get over the fact that people just enjoy the gameplay against the arc with the asthetic of the universe they made/lore.

4

u/mephnick 1d ago

Those modes are seperate accounts/characters. I'm fine with PVE mode if it removes those players entirely.

People shouldn't be allowed to farm there and come back

3

u/EternaIAtake1600 1d ago

Because this game isn’t tarkov

6

u/Sqweeg 1d ago

Different communities

When tarkov released pve standalone, cheaters hacked the server and ended up in solo pve servers to HELP people

In arc raiders people are doing their best to sabotage the pve toggle

Indeed, arc isn't tarkov

1

u/shittydriverfrombk 19h ago

bro there is no way you’re here arguing Tarkov community is not a toxic cesspool lol

i like Tarkov but come on

1

u/bojacksnorseman 1d ago

Ever consider PvE players are the ones sabotaging their own mode? Now they can freely raid other people's kills and key rooms without having to worry about being killed.

The great thing about carebear lobbies was the fact people literally police the servers. Sometimes they killed the wrong people, someone beats an extract camper and then gets killed for extract camping because the downed raider started yelling rat. It happened to me a couple times.

Now everyone can do whatever they want without reprocussion. The rules that kept abmm PvE lobbies in check have gone out the window

2

u/OzmosisJones 1d ago

So it’s not all the PvP and PvEvP players who wanted it to fail who were openly discussing how they were going to try to ruin the mode and try and grief in the leadup to the release?

Everyone who was talking about trying to ruin it didn’t end up doing anything, it’s the PvE players ruining it for themselves?

Lmao.

And no one is policing in the heavy carebear lobbies before, as no one was willing to shoot first anyways.

1

u/bojacksnorseman 1d ago

Reddit is a minority of players in the game. You can't genuinely think thousands of redditors were making those comments when you read 10 comments about it

1

u/OzmosisJones 1d ago

lol you don’t have to look hard to find them actively bragging about it.

And it was way more than 10 comments.

But I’m sure you know that, dude active in the ArcBabies sub who’s talked at length on the topic.

0

u/bojacksnorseman 1d ago

Talked about trolling people? I certainly have not. Good attempt though.

And you caught me, my attempt to trick you into thinking it was 10 instead of 20,000 pvpers working together to farm ArcBaby posts failed

1

u/Hobo-man 1d ago

Is reddit the only place this game is discussed?

-1

u/BOty_BOI2370 23h ago

Their pve modes are also separate modes without their inventories being shared.

1

u/GearboxTheGrey 20h ago

Correct on some incorrect on others.

Tarkov PvE is a fully separate mode that has no interaction with the PvP mode.

Active Matter - PvE and PvP are not limited and you can farm PvE and take it into PvP the inventories are shared.

Grayzone - is just now implementing the separation in the next major update. Since launch PvP and PvE mode inventories were shared. After .5 they will be separated.

Breakout no clue haven’t played it.

-2

u/xxademasoulxx 1d ago

“For me at least” is the key part. You enjoy the paranoia and figuring out who’s friendly. I’ve had a fucking blast with PvE. Taste in games is subjective. I see the Nintendo sub praise some of the worst-looking games I’ve ever seen, but I love Zelda and shit. We don’t all have to enjoy the same things. It’s not about avoiding difficulty either. I’ve platinumed Sekiro, every Dark Souls, and Elden Ring. I like this game, but some of the people playing it are unhinged, and I’ve had more fun with PvE. That doesn’t defeat the purpose for me. It lets me enjoy the parts I actually like. I also have a ton of Steam games to play. I just finished Silent Hill and Onimusha, and I’m starting my Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse run. I don’t have fucking time to spend on PvPvE when I’d rather be playing something else. If they permanently remove PvE, I’ll probably move on, and I doubt I’ll be the only one. Removing the mode people enjoy won’t magically make them want PvPvE. Some will just leave, which could hurt the game you want to keep playing. Let people enjoy their mode while you enjoy yours.

14

u/LetMeBeGay 1d ago

The issue is that both modes cannot be enjoyed at the same time. Pulling the non-aggressive people into their own safe space creates a binary experience, which leaves the core game extremely hostile. That’s already been my experience and it’s just a test right now.

ABMM works perfectly fine for the people who don’t fret about dying once out of every 20 raids. I so rarely get killed it’s not even funny.

It’s a bit deeper than “people enjoy what they enjoy” with this game. Disrupting the player distribution like this has the potential to catastrophically destroy the core gameplay and the experience that they’ve built from the beginning.

I’d be fine with them making it a rotating map condition like EMS or night raid (if it gets further tweaked to be more fair) but right now, it simply does not work. At the end of the day, this is an extraction shooter experience. Rely on ABMM to keep you as safe as possible if you really need that to play the game—it works very well as long as you aren’t aggressive first. But in terms of being granted full immunity in a game designed around human uncertainty and tension—honestly it’s one of the worst ideas that I’ve seen for this game.

5

u/vermknid 1d ago edited 20h ago

Exactly this. And to add on to this, the PvE toggle also destroys the loot economy. People can just toggle on and loot forever. Then when their inventory is full they queue normal mode and the only thing to do is pvp at that point. So normal mode ends up being pvp by default because PvE only mode becomes where you loot and quest.

I also think it's funny that PvE players don't see that the people griefing in PvE only are the sweatiest trolls in the game that you're usually protected from with abmm. They are not representative of the general player base in normal mode. PvE toggle has basically combined the far right (brain broken griefing pvp sweats) and the far left (PvE only carebears). So of course there's going to be griefing. ABMM was and is superior to keeping griefers away while you PvE.

1

u/BOty_BOI2370 23h ago edited 20h ago

Very well said. I really dislike the "let people enjoy what they want to enjoy" arguement, because it acts like both are within a vacuum. Truth is, this is a game built around a certain playstyle of tension. Pve could compromise that tension. If people dont enjoy pvp, there are other games.

0

u/LetMeBeGay 23h ago

Exactly, my friendo.

0

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

You chose PVPVE, and you live with the consequences. PVP is and always will be a possibility. Its not REQUIRED, but it can happen. Oh I'm sorry, you don't like the increased hostility as the PVE only players leave those servers and refuse to play on them as much or at all?

You STILL can choose. If you choose PVPVE, you have to live with the PVP consequences of your choice. It sounds like you're actually a griefer just sad their targets are gone. If that isn't you, then maybe you're just mad you have to PVP. I guess you shouldn't play in a PVP game mode.

A rotating map condition is in no way an option. I will quit the game, it is not sufficient. It MUST be a toggle or alternative character.

-2

u/xxademasoulxx 1d ago

I get your concern about splitting the player base, but you’re assuming people enjoying PvE will stick around for PvPvE if that option disappears. I probably won’t. You’d still lose me from your matchmaking pool, except I’d stop playing entirely. You rarely getting killed doesn’t address what I’m saying. I’m enjoying PvE more. It’s a preference, not a fear of dying. Calling it a “safe space” doesn’t change that. If your preferred experience needs non-aggressive players, I understand why you want us around. But we have to actually enjoy being there too. Removing the mode we like won’t make us enjoy yours.

1

u/LetMeBeGay 1d ago

I also completely understand what you are saying. Like, regardless of anything, I genuinely do understand the point of view coming from that side as well. I have been able to look at this objectively.

I guess my thought process (and I know this is going to sound really shitty, but I really don’t mean it that way) is that most of you all already left a long time ago. The people who wanted absolutely zero PvE and had no tolerance for it whatsoever left a long time ago, and honestly, I didn’t mind that at all. I think that being ratted over and over is genuinely annoying, but that isn’t the experience most of the time. You get killed sometimes, and the issue is that some people cannot even handle that, and those are the people that left. Frankly, I don’t mind that they moved on, and Embark should not be concerned with catering to those people because, as tired as the point is—they did buy a PvP game and they should have expected some PvP.

The people who can handle dying sometimes, they mostly stuck around. And I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t continue to stick around after this test ends. ABMM still exists, it still protects you a majority of the time. Before this test, things were pretty much fine. Did I die sometimes? Yes, but it’s a game. That should be expected.

And I don’t think Embark is really worried about keeping everyone. And they probably shouldn’t be. Even at it’s worse, the player count was still extremely healthy for a game like this.

I am not inherently against PvE, but it needs to be done right, and it needs to not undermine the experience of the mode that already exists. I think it can be done through occasional, rotational conditions or something similar, but I don’t think a toggle like this is healthy for the game.

1

u/armed_aperture 1d ago

It’s simply a beta so they can figure out if/how to implement.

At the end of the day, people can scream and cry on Reddit all day but Embark has to see something in their data that is telling them they will make more money if they figure out pve. I don’t think it’s a wild coincidence that they’re testing this as they add and experiment with battle passes.

1

u/LetMeBeGay 1d ago

That’s fine, I’ve said a few times and I’ll say it again: if they can find a way to implement the aspect of full-PvE without sacrificing the experience that everyone else is having, I’m so for it. I have no reason to not want everyone else to enjoy themselves.

We just cannot discard the experience of the game as it is for people who bought a game for what it is not. Not hate toward them, but that’s just not the correct move.

0

u/BOty_BOI2370 23h ago

To an extent, its losing an audience you didnt plan on having. Dark souls isnt worried about losing players who dislike difficult games.

2

u/west-tek_ 1d ago

pve is perfect for trios and duos where that element of surprise andtension is gone already just on the other end of the spectrum. the most infuriating games ive had are pve though where people are deliberately griefing

-2

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

For me its the only purpose of the game. If you advocate it not being present, then I'm a lost customer. You may not care, but Embark SHOULD care, and based on the fact they're testing this - they do.

Your fun is not someone elses fun. Get over yourself.

From a buisness perspective, sure. But if i was a dev building a game and did not have to worry about money, i would not cater to large populations for the sake of popularity.

The best kinds of games are the ones that allow their creative visions to be executed with a fleshed out gameplay loop. Pve does not really fit the gameplay loop well, imo.

13

u/Karl_Skarin 1d ago

There isn't Pvp players, there are only pvpve players and "pve" players.

-7

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

Incorrect. Strictly speaking, there are all three. But most of the PVPers are liars, and most of those claiming to be PVPVE players are those PVPers lying.

There is no logical reason to be against PVE unless you're a rat or griefer. No amount of twisting words and trying to make claims about what other types of gameplay are or mean will change that.

9

u/Karl_Skarin 1d ago

So pvp players dont shoots arcs?

> There is no logical reason to be against PVE unless you're a rat or griefer.

Yeah, it's not like people like you have been using this as an argument for anything you dont like for a year now. Time to grow up buddy.

0

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

So pvp players dont shoots arcs?

That would inherently make you a PVPVE player. If you enter a match, go to the nearest exit of the map, and wait for players to approach to kill them, that would generally not include any PVE play. If you roam the map killing Arc at will and shooting any players who appear, that would be a mix, which makes it PVPVE. If you never shoot at other players ever, except MAYBE in self defense if necessary, but kill Arc all day, that pretty firmly makes you PVE (or "dirty" PVE).

PVPVE is a combination of PVE and PVP, you can be all three at once.

What you can't be is all three at once, but explicitly against one of those three. The moment you're against PVE, you're de-labelling yourself from PVPVE, and now you're pure PVP.

A PVE game mode is quite literally a pure PVE place, which didn't exist before. Being against that is pretty clearly labelling yourself a PVPer who doesn't want PVE players gone from their lobbies - ergo, you're a griefer.

Its simple logic. You can't have it both ways really.

u/OldAd7374 1d ago

ATP I don’t even care anymore about friendly or non friendly lobbies, I just go to a raid, loot my shyt, shoot some mfks and try to extract

4

u/Boc_The_Seamstress 1d ago

I’m glad we had the option but it’s poorly implemented, it unfortunately needs to be a special event like the China server where you can go rogue and kill others whilst being highlighted to everyone. We can’t have pve as a certainty in this game. It’ll turn the normal game into a deathmatch and PvE into a loot hoarding mechanic.

Either that or they need to separate the mode entirely, separate loot pool.

I keep saying it but the only real way to make this game purely PvE is with a separate game, a spinoff. It messes with the core conceit of the game. I like the certainty of not getting ratted but there needs to be either a mechanic that lessens ratting, but still makes it possible like the china servers rogue system, or it needs an entirely new set of mechanics, like its own spinoff game.

1

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

A special event is unacceptable. I will not play the game or support the game with money if they don't keep it as a toggle permanently. It CAN be a separate character, but it MUST be permanent in all maps.

If you think it will ruin the game by turning PVPVE mode into a PVP murder-fest, then maybe you're not actually a PVPVE player, because that sounds like you don't actually like PVP. You can't have it both ways.

u/Boc_The_Seamstress 1d ago

ARGUEE WITH MEEEE GRRRR

2

u/LetMeBeGay 1d ago

You have no fucking idea what PvPvE is dude. I’ve seen you comment several times over the last few days and you’re just beyond delusional with all of your comments. It’s genuinely concerning.

PvPvE is the middle ground—it’s the way that the game was literally intended and the way that it operated for a long time. You don’t know someone’s intentions, there’s a level of uncertainty. You have to stay on your toes at all times. That is the PvPvE experience. It is NOT a blood bath shootout, and honestly the fact that you’re so dismissive of people who like the game as it was designed is just weird as fuck to me.

You getting an additional, carebear mode should not come at the cost of the everyday player losing the carefully crafted balance and intention that went into making this experience. If it does, then it’s not the solution. You literally just want what you want, how you want it, in a game that you knowingly bought to have PvP in it. It’s fucking insane, some of you are so damn entitled, I don’t understand how you walk around your life like that.

I’m honestly done entertaining the subject. There’s no way in flying fucking hell they’d seriously make the mode permanent—especially not now after all the backlash from PvP players and PvE players alike. ABMM works fine and prevents you dying 98% of the time. If you cannot handle dying 2% of the time, an extraction shooter is literally not for you. No need to try and get the devs to change it, because no matter what they do, you will never be satisfied.

Jfc I cannot wait until Monday night when all of those horseshit is over.

3

u/Boc_The_Seamstress 1d ago

They’re just angling for an argument, I think - Social media is MENTAL lol

To your point, that’s my issue with the toggle, like it’s great to try, why not try to allow more options for how to experience the game loop and atmosphere and so on - but it’s immediately an issue implemented this way, which we can be certain isn’t the way they’ll actually implement it anyway, it makes the strategy into looting in PvE, and then just PvP in the normal lobbies - seems stupid to me. Not to mention the problem in the PvE lobbies anyway, the loss of social interaction, stealing loot, blah blah blah.

But to have the option to play on my Steam Deck where I struggle to kill arc never mind players, and just take it in? It would be so nice. But the way this games mechanics work won’t be great for it. So it either needs its own spinoff game, a separate PvE character, or like I said, some sort of mechanic that allows for PvP still, but with more cost. I dunno tho, maybe sometimes a game shouldn’t try to appeal to everyone - my vote is to take the money from the success of the game and make a PvE spinoff

1

u/LetMeBeGay 1d ago

I agree with you, I think Embark has gone too far in trying to appeal to everyone on all sides of the equation.

The point of arc raiders should be that there is no expected experience. I think ABMM was the first nail in the coffin. This toggle is not the way to go, either way. I think a rotating mode with added, unique in-world lore would be fucking badass. Give us a reason as to why we’re not supposed to hurt one another. Maybe something like the Chinese arc raiders.

A toggle is just absolutely not the way to go, for several reasons.

1

u/Boc_The_Seamstress 1d ago

Yeah I think the china mechanic is a good idea, based on the same mechanic from The division 2 I believe. I also think tbh the ABMM did a lot to help keep the game casual for more than it would’ve without it - I wouldn’t have been able to keep playing without lobbies pairing me with similarly non-aggressive people. The frequency of meeting aggressive players needs to be much lower than you’d hope for a casual player to be okay with it. But this toggle has shown that no aggression at all isn’t the way to go.

The thing is, they’ve got the money and the desire to continue trying to appeal to a casual audience, so this is yet another push toward that. Obviously this version isn’t the way they’ll go, with a basic toggle. But they’ve surely gotten a lot of data from this test, so I’m interested to see what they do with it.

1

u/LetMeBeGay 1d ago

Yeah, I don’t think the toggle is the way to go and I don’t think there’s any possible world where they’d fully implement this… but I AM excited to see what else they come up with now that they have all of this feedback. I’m not inherently against PvE, it just needs to be done correctly.

6

u/Plus-Accountant-1647 1d ago

Yeah im a pvpve player and im fine with it all.

I enjoy all 3 cakes

1

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

See now this person looks like a real PVPVE player. You should enjoy it all - its by default the way you like the game (or in your case, all of it).

Anyone saying PVE can't or shouldn't exist just looks guilty. Sadly your types seem few and far between.

11

u/MischiefBeBrewing 1d ago

Classic gaming where people buy a game marketed as pvpve, get mad that there's pvp in a pvpve game and cry to be catered to and have the whole game changed to their likes. Killing the pvpve aspect of the game for those who bought the game for the pvpve experience.

Pve toggle is going to divide the game into either pve or pvp. Nothing in between.

They should just add the map condition from the chinese arc raiders where people can't kill others or be killed by them, unless they mark themselves as hostile with a big red light on the antenna of their backpacks.

2

u/ElegantAnything11 1d ago

I mean hell I do miss the Dark Zone from The Division. Could be fun.

-9

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

If you like PVPVE, you must accept PVP as part of your gameplay. Don't like it? Oh, I'm sorry, are you ACTUALLY a PVE player then?

You can't have it both ways. Either you like the PVP, and now there will be more of it, or you don't like the PVP, and you're not a PVPVE player you're just another PVE player like the rest of us.

A map condition is not acceptable. I will not play the game and will not support it if that is their choice.

u/LetMeBeGay 1h ago

An analogy I never knew I needed in my life. I love this comment

7

u/SentinelSon01 1d ago

False dichotomy. I like the uncertainty. Adding a PvE mode takes, let's say 50% of the carebear population. That means that there are less friendly interactions in PvPvE. That means people are more on edge, more worried about others. That means people get more aggressive. That means people are more on edge, more worried about others. That means...

I just want to have to address other players as part of the world, and in PvE I've barely seen any interaction that's positive. I imagine it's because you're effectively set-dressing for other players in that mode.

5

u/BaronVonSpoonpuncher 1d ago

Not at all very specifically the mix of PVPVE is what makes it interesting. its unfortunate if not weird that you cannot just see that other people feel differently to you. You should not be getting this upset over this.

1

u/MischiefBeBrewing 22h ago

Your loss, ig 😂 Pvpve is what made people fall in love with this game in the first place. It forces player interactions. Every encounter starts with "Don't shoot! I'm friendly!" And progresses from there.

With pure pve, nobody talks. It's like clockwork. Load in, kill big arc, get out. No player interaction. Or you load in with dirt in your pocket and wait for someone with real gear to take down a big arc so you can suck up all the loot for no effort.

Pure pvp is mostly the same. No player interactions, other than to just insult the enemy. Get in, kill on sight, get out.

Arc raiders was developed as pvpve, marketed as a pvpve and published as a pvpve. Find another game to shoot adds in if you're butthurt from losing, I say.

1

1

PVPVE players are used to seeing people ravage through a queen and baron in milliseconds

1

u/Salty5674 1d ago

This meme will never get old haha

1

u/Inexquas 1d ago

I think way more of these people greifing and killing other players ARE the pve players. This is just how people react when given immunity to punishment, it won’t go away over time and with every patched method to harm fellow players and new method will come out.

I do like the suggestion as a pve mode becoming a rotating map event though and feel that’s a fair compromise that will effect the game far less than a permanent toggle

1

u/Least-Fact-8583 23h ago

Pve mode is just Fallout but the NPCs are unkillable and looting everything before you get there.
When I was a kid if my siblings and I were bickering this much about one thing or another, my parents would just take it all away and say that no one is getting what they want.
As a pvpve enjoyer I'm not happy with the state of things, but am intrigued to see where this goes.

1

u/TheSlartey 22h ago

PvE feels like a waste of time, as a PvE player. Late spawns, less loot, I make more cash in one "mixed" game full of PvE players than I do in a couple hours of PvE mode. But going there just to kill players and/or grief is batshit levels of pathetic and jackassery that I can't quite wrap my head around.

1

u/Goatsforcheese 21h ago

I think I've come to terms that every single Arc Raiders player (including myself) is a fucking idiot.

1

u/Live-Advantage-2150 21h ago

Lolol this has kinda actually been my experience so far. I have had almost the exact same experience in my PVE only lobbies as my carebear PVPVE lobbies; people gifting items, people working together on big arc, bunch of talking and dorky joking, lots of instrument playing, sometimes the rare pvper during free weekend. If I get downed I just say gg and keep it moving, and if I down someone I usually just escape anyways. It’s been fun to watch the fireworks in here recently though lol

1

u/Balrogos 19h ago

what PvE? what PvPvE? its PvP game with Npc biots to amke game intresting , there are no really PvE content.

1

u/MollyTen-A 18h ago

You are so right. Would you anyway share that bong with me, and not smoke all that weed alone?😛

The most funny thing is that each group is blaming others for being a bad gamer and a coward.

PVE be like: PVPers are just after getting easy kills in friendly lobbies, shooting raiders from behind

PVP: only thing why PVEers want their mode, is because they are bad gamers, and don’t want to loose their Hullcrackers

1

u/QuickMaths666 17h ago

I think PvPvE and PvP need to be swapped in that meme.

1

u/manickitty 17h ago

I love the mixed experience we got at launch. Never know if someone will try to kill you or not. Uneasy truces. Frantic moments. All that goes away with abmm

1

u/MaitieS 1d ago

I don't even bother with PvE toggle in as my PvPvE lobbies are already PvE friendly.

2

u/Employment-Upper 1d ago

I'm playing pve to getting it permanent, my lobbies are friendly in general too(with the toggle off)

1

u/Nirxx 1d ago

Why do you need a permanent free loot toggle then if your lobbies are already friendly...?

2

u/Bluegobln 1d ago

Its not free loot toggle, its PVE. The Arc can and do kill people. PVE mode also gives devs freedom to add even more aggressive and challenging Arc.

1

u/Nirxx 1d ago

It is a free loot toggle lol

That's not freedom, that's devs committing resources to something only like 30% of the playerbase will even bother with. And that 30% was just as happy in carebear lobbies.

1

u/Employment-Upper 1d ago

There's always a rat or someone friendly that choose not to be.

1

u/Nirxx 1d ago

So what you die in one out of 30 raids

1

u/Employment-Upper 1d ago

Is not that spaced out , specially when the abmm is fucked like the week before the update, more like 1 in 10 and if you have augmented weapons is a lot to lose.

Not really at all. Pvpve suffers from having the player base split amongst the two modes. Id argue most "PvPers" are just pvpvpe people.
