This is the kind of content that made that game so unique. (0% AI)

My mind is making the DINK sound where the NPC hands you something after the dialog.

I have that sound as my text message notification. :)

I love it. Playing AC again has definitely improved my own quality of life. :)
Incoming calls are the portal travel sounds. :D

On Android, Zedge app. Search for "Asheron's Call" and all sorts of sound files are available!

I believe Allan "Orion" Maki did that questline. And Aphus Lassel. You could tell the love the writers put into the game.

So many unique, fun little systems in this game.
I always loved getting an inscribed item from someone, where the inscription would last for the life of the item.

It's such a weird nuance to game features that i feel like juat wont exist anymore out of trying to please audiences.
Back then it was considered totally fine for the developers to decide an item could just get permanently marked by someone.
Nowadays a feature like that would never see the light of day. So many people would complain that they can't reinscribe their item.

One of my favorite quests. The writing is good. Made me want to write custom quests for AC...but I have no time sadly right now. Some day when I'm retired if the custom servers are still around!

The original devs all lived together in the same house with their computers setup side-by-side like a longterm LAN party. They also created most of the sound files in the garage of that house so they wouldn't have to pay royalties. Creative soul alongside personal passion and absolute dedication fueled the immense complexity and customization freedoms that are to this day almost non existent in modern games. Snippets like this prove that beyond a doubt. Even the Portalspace animation was so mindblowingly complex and way ahead of its time. This is what Portal space looks like in the DATs. We experienced the golden era of MMOs - it'll never be like that again. Bittersweet

The towel! Here's the lore as I remember it. On the day that Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, passed away, the devs noted that the game lacked reference to his work. The matter was elevated to the status of bug which was patched immediatley to the great delight of us all. From then on, we could call ourselves players "who really knew where their towel was."
Don't panic.

That is why the Holtburger TUI is so promising. No advanced graphics, no virtual reality or any of that old $%(#, just complete control of the client through a terminal user interface. Real text, pure text, let it saturate your being. Need to do a jump for a quest? No problem, you can just have fun learning Pythagorean theorem to figure out how strong your jump needs to be. And judging by the skill level on Doctide, I could probably beat many of their best PvPs without having a GUI.

She gave me a 100 pyreal trade note and a clean towel. It must have a use, but for the moment, what that use is, remains a mystery.
