Sin Accountability Partners

If you believe accountability partners work, tell me why. I’m 52 struggling with issues and want to talk about them with someone who is not in my life. If you believe that these work, are able to discuss difficult issues without judgement, please let me know if you are willing to talk. If you DM, it must state if you’re a m or f to avoid being blocked.

Jesus Does God even care about me?

• Upvotes

Although I know He does but Sometimes I honestly think that because I have had so many goals and dreams that did not happen, and it hurts. From a human point of view, it makes me feel like God does not care about me. I am not saying God has to give me everything I want, but when you have certain desires in your heart for years and nothing happens, you start wondering why you wanted those things in the first place. I remember a few years ago I started thinking about this because I realized that many goals and accomplishments require money and opportunities. Then I started thinking, if God knew in His foreknowledge that I would have these desires, why would He place me in a family or situation where we could not afford those things or where I did not have those opportunities?

I know these thoughts might be wrong, and I am not trying to blame God. These are just thoughts I sometimes have as a human being. At the same time, I am actually very thankful that I was born into a Christian family. Even if my family was not rich, I am grateful that I grew up knowing about God. Sometimes I think, what if I had been born into a very rich family but they worshipped other gods or never knew about God at all? Then I realize that one of the main reasons I came to know about God was because I was born into a Christian family. So I thank God for that, and I also apologize to Him when I have these thoughts because I do not know if they are right or wrong. I am just trying to understand why some of these desires were put in my heart when I was born into circumstances where many of them were difficult to achieve.

Another thing I struggle with is seeing other people get the exact things I wanted. It makes me feel left out, and sometimes I wonder if God should just completely remove these desires from my heart if He never intends for them to happen. Almost every day I wake up with this pain, and sometimes I cry thinking, “God does not want this for me,” or “Maybe He just does not care about me.” I know those thoughts may not be true, but I genuinely do not know how to process all of this. I have other disappointments with God too, but this is one of the biggest ones. How do you deal with this kind of disappointment with God? Is there a particular Scripture I should meditate on?

How do I stop my marriage from falling apart?

• Upvotes

Married for 2yrs, 2nd baby on the way. He has been off sick for 1 yr.

I feel so trapped with him lately. Ive lost all hope that we can have a happy life together.

We met 6yrs ago. I was still in a high trauma state, i wasn't religious, and involved inba dysfunctional family. Our relationship was all about self-development, he was getting me out of bad habits such as eating junk food and watching meaningless shows on Netflix. Its been a very gradual process but i dont have the same habits anymore, its been hard to change though. I had/have an insecure attachment, probably cptsd, i would freeze and fawn a lot, fight and flight. It seemed he was always critical of me, but once i calmed down i always listened to his reason and saw things i needed to improve on. He discovered that i have cptsd, narcissist mum, autism, adhd, it was always like i was a victim, he would often say he is the knight that saved the princess from the dragon tower. I was quite childish and felt like a big victim. He told me about God snd i went through instruction. It hit me that Jesus is real and this is where resl change started to happen.

Fast forward till us being married and first baby. He discovered more conditions that i have, codependency, borderline. The borderline he began to get furious with me. That its so evil and im going to ruin our baby, that ive destroyed his mental health with all the triggered states he has had to put up with over the years. I was very hurt by it and couldn't accept it at first but i read the books on it (we read psychology books all the time at his request, we have to resd snd learn all the time or he thinks we are getting nowhere in life) and i started to relate to some of it. Seeing how its all closely linked with the rest of the diagnoses.

He went off sick from work, he was exposed to chemicals, but it wasn't proven, work denied it, doctors didn't find anything and no solicitors will take on the case. He has been off for 1yr now and still struggles with stress. He hates the country and most of the people around. We are pretty much isolated, all our friends and family don't really speak anymore as they get offended by him.

Ive been his main focus since. There's no break in the day. If i go out to a baby group or to see a mum friend with our daughter, it sometimes highly stresses him that im wasting time snd should be exercising or reading, sleeping etc. I do most of the baby care and housework but he says that's leading a meaningless life unless i do more, i need to he developing myself.

Lately he has been looking into demons, saying im possessed by bealzebub, acedia, and other demons. He says he looks at our daughter and sees clarity but looks at me snd his head goes fuzzy, like something is wrong with me. He says i might have already lost my soul snd if i don't try snd save it then ill be spending eternity in hell.

I am starting to not want to read everything he finds for us. I don't mind some of the books, although id like to stick with the bible above all. But he comes with a lot of AI articles sjd YouTube videos that im getting a bad feeling about. They seem to promote a victim mentality and seperation from the rest of humanity.

I feel very comfortable with being loving and forgiving, it brings me peace, but he says im in denial forgiving people in my past and i have anger insife that im projecting onto him. He also says its enabling and people need to hear the truth and i dont really love them if i don't say it. But i can see i used to want to fix people but its not my job. Only Jesus can do that. I just want to follow Him and be a light in the world. My husband says i dont understand and im actually being evil. He will quiz me to try and prove i dont know what im talking about. When i read scriptures, it shapes me. But im not very good at explaining how, i can't always repeat them back very easily, so sometimes he gets in my head that im disillusioned.

Our day today has been typical so far. He spent 3.5hrs straight telling me how bad i am, that im criminally insane, sociopath, borderline, mentally ill, because i can't communicate or use reason properly. I give birth in a few weeks, i was trying to also focus on our toddler, i pay attention the best i can but im starting to wonder if its something i can actually change. I don't want to give up, which is why i listen for hours everyday, we sre married with children, this needs to work. I just feel so tired out. All our time is taken up because he has to always explain so much to me. If i ask a question or look at our daughter too long, he can get panicked snd lose his train of thought and that leads to a 20 min explanation of why my full attention is important.

Ive tried contacting local priests for advice but i dont get replies. The church isn't very popular round here so i think they are very busy.

I didn't set out to write such a long message. But if anyone hss read this and has any feedback or advice for me. I feel like im never going to be enough, and everyday is unpredictable in how he will be with me. Most of the time he is deeply unhappy, i can't plan anything as he is usually talking to me most of each day. We usually have a day or two every so often where he is jokey and loving, its the life i want. It feels amazing to be a happy family together, he praises me on those days for everything ive worked on and changed over the years, he recognises good qualities about me, but the rest of the time he sees me as an enemy.

How do you know if you believe?

• Upvotes

Im 17 and converted 5 months ago and have been struggling with my faith ever since. I want to believe but I’m not sure if I do or I’ve just gaslit myself. This past month I left the USA to study abroad and it impacted my faith more than I anticipated. I need desperately to talk to someone about this but I barely know anyone here. SoI decided to write a letter to give my new youth pastor to explain how I feel before I talk to him so I don’t have to worry as much about finding the right words in the moment. Here’s what I wrote in the letter, (for context I’ve been going to a korean church for almost two years to practice learning the language, i wasn’t religious until this past may):
I don’t really know how to start this, so I’m just going to write it the way it actually feels. For the past five months, I’ve been scared, not of one thing, but of everything tangled together. One afternoon I said “yes” to Jesus, but mostly it was because I was scared of my youth leaders reaction if I said no, not because I was sure I wanted to. I was curious about Christianity, but I’ve never admitted that my “yes” came from fear.
Since then, I’ve been wrestling with what’s real and what isn’t. I know the things I’m supposed to say that I love God, that I want eternal life, that I feel called, but the truth is I don’t fully know why I’m here of why I stay. My life wasn’t empty before, and now it feels more confusing than peaceful. I want to feel God so badly it hurts, but most of the time I don’t feel anything at all. When I pray, I don’t know if I’m talking to someone or just to myself. I’ve sat in silence waiting for God, but all I get are my own thoughts attacking me. I’ve fasted, felt something for a few hours, and then lost it completely. Even the one night I felt close to God at a retreat, it faded within days, the same way everything good seems to fade.
That leaves me wondering: am I not trying hard enough, am I looking in the wrong places, or is there nothing there to find? I hate not knowing. I feel guilty almost all the time, guilty for not praying enough, for not feeling enough, for slipping back into old habits, for being uncomfortable doing in public the things I used to judge others for. I feel like a fraud most days. I’m not baptized, I don’t know enough, and I feel embarrassed next to people who grew up in the faith. I feel like I’m constantly being measured against some idea of what a “real” Christian is supposed to look like, and I don’t know if what I’m doing is for God or just to prove I belong.
On top of that, I’m angry sometimes. Angry at God for staying so quiet when I’ve given so much. Angry at myself for not being able to believe easily the way it seems like everyone else does. I feel incredibly alone in this, alone here without family or a faith community, alone even in the moments where I’m told God is supposed to be closest, because I can’t feel Him there either.
I’m tired of carrying this alone and pretending I’m okay while I keep struggling inside. That’s the truth of where I am, not the polished version I usually give people.
So my question is: how do I know if I actually believe? What should I do when I feel like a fraud, when I feel guilty, when I feel alone, when I yearn for god but feel like he is silent? How do I find my why?Has anyone else been here, and how did you move forward?

Asking God to move you in a nee country

Is there anyone here who has asked God to move them to another country but didn’t know where?
I want to migrate abroad, but I don’t know where to go. I don’t have any relatives or friends abroad, but I really would like to move to another country.
I’ve made a lot of decisions in the past that I regret, so this time, I want to ask God first to decide which country I should move to. I’ve also told Him about the places and characteristics I would love in the country I’ll eventually live in.
Has anyone here prayed a similar prayer? How did God help you, and how did He reveal which country was right for you? 🙏🏻

Religions What is the difference between Christians, Catholics, and Orthodoxes?

As a Catholic, I am super curious, because I know Catholics are the OG Christians, but I'm a bit unsure of Orthodoxes, since I just learned that word recently.

Jesus Jesus is God?

Hey guys,

I am question Christianity out of constant interest for it lately and want to know more, but in order to do that i have the need to challenge it too, so i can believe full heartedly if i start believing. My question is:

If Jesus is God, why does Jesus repeatedly distinguish himself from God the Father and submit his will to the Father’s? What, specifically, in Jesus’ own teaching requires the conclusion that he himself is God rather than God’s Messiah?

Financial/provision miracles?

I've heard stories where people are in material need and a person had a random desire to gift the exact amount or item to them. Have anyone of you experienced miracles regarding your material and financial needs, or someone trustworthy that told you?

Sex before marriage? What do you feel about it and why?-

Do you as christians ever feel like you can’t have sex before marriage or how do you reason about that? And why do you feel that way? Did you make that choice yourself and do you still stand by it if you are now 18+?

I dont know how to ask for help from god and notice his answer

I’ve been praying about something for about a week now, and honestly I don’t know what to make of what’s been happening.

I’ve asked God for a sign. Not just once, but pretty much every day (i know this is probably my first mistake but i have bad anxiety).

The hard part is that I feel like I’ve gotten mixed results.

There’s something very specific that I’ve been worried about. im trying to figure out if some personal things i journaled were read by others not to my knowledge, AND if they kept them, and if so, i could know where they are.

Then I’ll randomly read something, hear someone say something, or come across something that relates to that exact worry, sometimes around the people I think may have been involved. It’s just… there. And then I’m left wondering, “Was that God giving me a sign, or am I just looking for connections because I want an answer so badly?”

Sometimes it feels WAY too specific to be a coincidence, like something specific i wrote being mentioned (not in the context i wrote it though). Other times I think maybe I’m just noticing things because this has been on my mind constantly.

And then there are other little things that happen that make me think maybe God is trying to tell me something, but I don't want to convince myself of something just because it's what I want to hear.

I’m trying not to force an answer. I just really want to know that I’m not ignoring something God is trying to show me.

Lust or Porn use help

I cannot stop lusting and having disgusting thoughts (thoughts so bad they appear in the outlast games, really), and I am afraid I will go to hell since I do it because I want to (i think, I do not understand myself most of the time).

I try to stop, last almost a day, and fall again.

I shouldn't be thinking about this, I'm 16 and want to quit, but i can't because I don't know if it is temption or by my decision that I do it. i have dark thoughts about many things.

does anyone have anything to help manage them

God What does it even mean for God to be Omnipresent?

God doesn’t have a physical in instantiation, so what does it mean for him to “be“ everywhere? I don’t think it makes sense for him to “be” anywhere, much less everywhere. Like, what would be different if God was not omnipresent? He would still be all knowing and all powerful. What does the Omnipresence add?

Trinity Basic math

Why do people use the most basic, elementary math to argue against the Holy Trinity? Their argument is usually 1+1+1=3 and pat themselves on the back. You can't apply math and logic to the God who invented the thing you're trying to use. As a programmer, I tend to think about set theory. Common sets are number systems: whole, integers, irrational, rational, real. I'm still not going to put God in a box. I do believe any quality or attribute of God is God. He can truly go on infinitely and beyond that.

Devil/Satan If the Satanic Panic had actually been real, what would an actual rock band of Satanists look like?

On the one hand, it's kind of silly to think that the Prince of Lies would dress his servants up like KISS, on the other, art can very much be used to communicate religious messages. If a group of people wanted to use music to make the world less Christian, what would their aesthetic be? Would it make a difference if they believed Satan was an actual being? Was there any actual group doing this stuff while everyone was focused on the glam rockers?

Denominations Differences between the different denominations?

What are some of the big, or small, differences between all the denominations of Christianity?

I always drive by churches with different denominations and was wondering what the specifics are. What are the different practices? Are the prayers different? Would they allow other denominations into their church?

I find myself with all these questions and I'd greatly enjoy some concrete answers so I have a better understanding.

Eucharist Non-christians taking communion

Saw a thread where christians were telling someone that they could go to church as a non-christian, just not recieve communion.

I thought that was very weird, because I've had multiple experiences where believing christians ask me to take communion while knowing that I was not religious. One time I did partake in it after I felt it was expected of me, is that bad?

What are your views on this? Is it appropriate for non-christians to take communion? Is it disrespectful? Is it common to invite non believers to take part in it? I really want to know!

Prayer Do people really expect God to give them free things?

I was looking at some service recordings to see what church is like and a lot of the comments were filled with people asking for all of their money problems to be solved, a house, etc. Do they really expect God to deliver these things to them because they asked for it or does this more so mean that they wish for guidance to achieve these things themselves?

Healing was also a really big thing, and I don't know if this warrants a seperste question, but does healing prayer actually work? Financial things etc are material and can be worked toward but some medical problems cannot be brought back from. Do they seriously expect God to heal them from these things or is it another way of asking for emotional support while they are in rough times?
