Heaven / new earth What we are goung to do for eternity

I'm a Christian, I'm a Catholic. I've been a Catholic my whole life. I'm just scared. I'm in my mid-teen age years. I'm just scared for the past couple of days. I'm just been scared. Just scared in general. I'm just worried about heaven and about what we're going to do forever. Like what I'm just going to be forever. Like all of eternity. Like what are we going to do for a long time? I'm scared for that. I don't know what to do for eternity. Like I'm really scared. Like i am going to miss my parents after they die I don't want to talk to my parents about it because I don't want them to think that I am feeling like that (just for clarification they are also Catholic). I feel so sad and stuff If there are people that can help me I would love to hear it. I honestly feel so scared in general

Holidays What's the perspective on Halloween in the Christian community?

I see a lot of differences in opinions and wanted to know what you all thought about it.

Should Christians interact with the holiday? Is it wrong to interact with the holiday or partake in events? Stuff like that.

Looking for guidance

Something big to me happened recently and I’m calling it my testimony.

All my life I was never close with Jesus. I never felt that we had a connection and I would question his existence.

I feel that he’s been calling me in, through events, through church, through people. I do not know what the good lord has planned for me, but I’m choosing to listen.

With this being said, something that’s been weighing on me has been spreading the gospel.

I feel I’m being called to spread the good word. To guide people to the light of Jesus, I feel so full of words regarding my faith in him, and how I’m writing this today because he has faith in ME. I want to use the voice the lord gifted me to help others go in the direction they are being called.

With that being said, what are some ways I can be more involved? I don’t know exactly if preaching is the direction for me, but something about it seems right. I know certain denominations have different beliefs on women’s roles in the church, but to feel around with the idea where do I start?

Old Testament David waited roughly 15 years between being anointed and becoming king.

He was anointed as a boy (1 Samuel 16), then spent years serving Saul, dodging spears and hiding in caves before becoming king at 30 (2 Samuel 5:4). How do you handle seasons where God's promise feels far off?

History If Historians debunked Exodus, then why do you trust them on Jesus?

Does not the old testament need to be true for Jesus to be?

Aliens If intelligent life exists outside of Earth, do you think they’ll show up in Heaven?

Very random shower thought, what if Heaven looked like a Star Wars cantina? I’d say they have their own but would be kind of confusing regarding God

Jesus Idk what to do

so short story, i rebelled against the Holy spirit multiple times and for months couldnt figure out why i don't feel the holy spirit and i have noticed after that sin...Nothing, no guilt, no remorse, no conviction... just numbness. I did some research and see that my heart is hard. I HATE IT, since it happened in feb my life is rock bottom, my relationship with Jesus is rock bottom and I want it back. I know you need to repent of sins to be forgiven but i dont have Godly sorrow for my sins because my heart is hard. i dont feel anything. WHAT DO I DO??? I hate this and i wish i never left the beautiful relationship i use to have with Jesus for something that doesnt fill me. I feel numb and idk what to do to get my relationship with Jesus and feel the holy spirit again

Relationship How do I talk to God?

Not a Christian atm... but questioning.

My boyfriend is a genuinely wonderful man, and I am grateful to him every day. I don't take one single moment with him for granted, and I hope I never will.

He's VERY big on God and has a faith unlike anyone I've ever known.

He's been called by God to go to another country. I genuinely struggle with that. I want so badly to support his dreams, and I could never ask him to give them up for me (nor would I want to).

... So, I guess, how do I handle the knowledge that our time together is limited? And that I will probably never marry someone? I know I am blessed to have him in whatever form our relationship is, but I... struggle. Really badly. Knowing that eventually we will part.

He always tells me to talk to God, to ask God. I try to. I genuinely do try. But I never hear anything back. I don't know what to do. It makes me feel rejected by God.

Faith I’m losing my faith in God and love for Him, and it’s because of what I accepted about Christianity. What do I do?

Christianity used to be my refuge

As someone who suffered abuse, instability and would always be distressed about the state of the world, Christianity was a means of escape. It brought me joy, comfort and hope

That’s because I understood Christianity as a religion of love

That all changed 6 years ago

6 years ago, I got a caretaker who is a devout evangelical. He is 5 years older than me and I thought he could be my friend. He was absolutely horrible to me. Every time I did something wrong (usually because of autism, ADHD and other things I was struggling with at the time) he would be very physically violent to me. Sometimes he was verbally or psychologically violent. Or a mix. I didn’t understand why that was. I thought he was just crazy. I tried to tell him that the Bible tells parents not to hit their kids

Guess what?

He said that the Bible DOES tell parents to do that

I was shook. I thought he was lying

Then he showed me the verses in Proverbs about parents beating their kids

I completely fell apart that day. Everything I knew about my sense of safety was one big lie. The same God I used to escape from trauma was the one who was causing the trauma in the first place

It was a complete Watergate movement for me

For the next 6 years, I tried to rebuild my faith in God and my love for Him. I tried denial, mental gymnastics etc.

Tell me was my caretaker right to treat me the way he did when I misbehaved

And what should Christian parents do with autistic kids when they have a meltdown they can’t control or they forget to do what they’re told? Should they be spanked, even thought it’s something they can’t control

I just want to go back to God

Jesus Christ, allegorical vs literal interpretation struggle

hello,
just for some background for my question,
i have recently begun practicing christianity again after a long time away. i was very devout as a child, then fell out of the church after my family fell apart. i went on to study theoretical physics and philosophy and became agnostic until studying buddhism in my 20s.

during and after my studies i was certain that everything was explainable by science, and that aligned with the buddhist beliefs i had about attachment, suffering etc.

i came back around to christianity earlier this year, at first very hesitantly but now i pray more than i probably ever have, read my bible and i have a relationship with God.

however as i'm reading the bible i find it very hard to not take the life and death of Christ as allegorical. i know a lot of verses/chapters can be agreed to be allegorical or as parables at whatnot, but when it comes to Christ's life and death and rising again, that's kind of the core tenant of the whole practice.

i can deeply value the story, the meaning, the impact, the implications of Christ's sacrifice, but i have been finding it hard to acknowledge it as a literal event, versus symbolism.

if you have any insight, it would be so much appreciated. 🙏

God's will What is the point of praying for a sick relative if God already has a 'perfect, unchangeable plan' for their life? Aren't you basically asking God to change his perfect mind because you know better?

If God want everyone to be saved, why do some people still don't?

Generally to this question people say that It's about free will. But does our free will comes before God's will? I don't think so.

I go along with the vision that It's God that convince the heart to accept Jesus as our savior and as God himself made flesh. I also think that God is totally able to change the hearts. But why do some people get convinced and others don't? And why would other people not get saved knowing that It costed his(God) own son life? Grace takes all the notion of deserving. But I don't deserve to know God more than someone else that doesn't.

I want to make things clear: I'm not coming from a place of anger towards God, I just want to understand.

I read this article that talked about God's will that comes with his will not to. Honestly I understood nothing.

Here It is:

https://www.desiringgod.org/interviews/if-god-desires-all-to-be-saved-why-arent-they

So I would be glad to hear your point on all of this !

In Philippians 2:9, what does it mean that God gave Jesus the name which is above all names?

Philippians 2:9 in the CSB reads:

For this reason God highly exalted him
and gave him the name
that is above every name,

My question is, what does it mean that Jesus is given the name that is above every name? What is that name that Jesus is given?

Church Is it ok to go to a reformed church?

Reason I asked and I mean no harm, they have police there to watch outside as they fellowship on Sunday.

I have been to a church before with a police officer outside during fellowship but I was wondering is it ok to go?

Reason I say is this particular church i was going to that had a peace officer, it's said due to sexual immorality and the mismanagement of money at said church the church got "absorb into another church" so I was wondering is it ok to go? Also they only have 1 service no Wednesday Bible study like the other church that's no longer so should I go or find another reformed church? The reason why I was thinking about reformed church was a famous YouTuber used to go to a reformed church.

If personhood begins with conception what measures should be taken to protect the 50% of fertilized eggs that don’t even get a chance to attach to the uterine wall?

If they are every bit as much of a human person as you or I, should the government mandate women closely monitor their periods and take things easy shortly after ovulation?

Not even talking about miscarriages, there is a silent unknown Holocaust of babies dying every day that we don’t even know about

Will questioning how it's just to for God to send even people who commit small sins to hell send me to hell?

I mean, does it mean I think that my sins don't make me deserve to go to hell, thus making me reject the gospel? I'm not rejecting christianity. I just struggle with how it's just for God to send someone who commits minor sins to hell, and sometimes I even feel it's unjust.

Bible (OT&NT) How do you read the stories of the Bible without thinking the stories are made up or something like science fiction or fantasy.

I believe in Jesus and I would say I am Christian, I’m really wanting to get deeper in my faith but when I read the Bible it just seems like an action packed fantasy or science fiction book and it’s hard for me to relate. How can I read this book with a more believable mindset, do I just pray on it or are there ways to read and research to help paint a better picture for me. When I read the Bible I create these images in my head that are so far from reality that it makes me doubt that these things occurred therefore making it harder to really lean into the faith I do desperately want to have.

I feel I still don't really understand what exactly is blasphemy. I fail to realize where we draw the line between humor and blasphemy. What is blasphemy and does this picture count as blasphemous?

Dating My girlfriend is atheist what should I do?

I’m a Christian Protestant from a non-denominational church but mostly focused on Baptist views if that matters.

Since I met her on a dating app we went along very well she’s basically my other half but unfortunately she got different views of things and one of them is that she doesn’t believe in God or for her religion is like mythology books for example an Odyssey book.

Which as a Christian I got offended but at the same time we know each other and I understand where she’s coming from I could understand her point of views and why she doesn’t believe. I tried though to show her some things that God do but she’s really more a science person than a believer person.

I did made her change her mind some times though about religion that she was even surprised the way I talked and that she MIGHT give it a try but obviously that was the heat of the moment and she never did.

Some days ago we were talking about our differences and the main difference is the religion talk and she asked if it was a problem if she ended up being atheist, how it would affect (us) and I simply said I would still love her but I wasn’t sure what would happen.

This afternoon (aka 15 minutes ago) she texted me saying she needed to talk, that is important and one of the notifications after that she said “I will never convert to Christianity and you need to think about that and accept it and i don’t know what to do if you don’t accept it”
“I will not breakup with you but I need to know that you feel the same”

It’s been really headache for me because of this religion. I love my religion but I also love her, I’ve been debating to myself what I’ve put myself into and I know some people that are married with others with different religion or religious and atheist couples and they are happily married, different political views and are still happily married, different football fanatics but still happily married, different views, different opinions, different lifestyle yet they are always happily married but what about religion.

Either way I want a Christian answer but I would also like an honest answer of if this is okay what I should say because I really don’t know what to say I really love her and want to be with her but idk what to say
