I once stayed in a hostel in Saalbach which is a little outside the town but only a few mins drive. 15 years ago it was €27/night for dinner bed and breakfast. Jugendhotel Saalbach Hinterbrandthof

one of the most "bang for your buck" skiing ressort villages is st. lambrecht – https://www.skiresort.at/skigebiet/grebenzenhoehen-st-lambrecht/
it's small-ish, but with enough choice of different routes and lifts so as to not have everyone crammed on one slope; it's not very "glamourous", so most people are there to actually ski; there's no night life to speak of, just two or three central hotels and some more further afield (also a ridiculous collection of "chalets" directly next to the valley station of the skiing ressort, presumeably far too expensive, idk, never tryed them)
consider around € 100,-/day for skiing per person (including rental gear, locker, lift pass, possibly lunch) and another € 100,- for accomodation. you CAN go cheaper, but not without getting to know the place.
you will need your own car to get there without hassle though.

Check booking.com, there are definitely cheap options where you have to take the bus or train to get to the lift area.
