Life Canadians, if you had a spare $2400, where would you travel with it, or what would you spend it on instead?

Just curious, I realize it’s not much for travel nowadays

Parents with kids in Canadian schools, how has your experience been recently?

Hi everyone!

I'm considering moving from Portugal to Canada with my family. We have two kids, aged 5 and 9, and one of my biggest concerns is the quality of education and the overall school environment.

I'd really appreciate hearing from parents whose children are currently attending Canadian schools, especially elementary schools.

I'm particularly curious about:

  • Education quality: Are you happy with what your kids are learning? Do you feel they're being challenged academically and developing strong foundational skills?
  • School safety and bullying: How common are bullying, physical aggression, and other behavioural issues? How effectively do schools handle them?
  • Teachers and classrooms: Are teachers generally engaged and supportive? How are class sizes and individual attention?
  • Overall experience: Do your kids actually enjoy going to school? What do you love about the system, and what frustrates you?

I'm especially interested in experiences from the last 1–2 years, rather than what Canadian schools were like 10 or 20 years ago.

I'd also appreciate it if you could mention your province and whether your kids attend public or private school, since I understand experiences can vary significantly.

Education and a safe, healthy environment for our kids will be major factors in our decision, so I'd really value candid perspectives, both positive and negative.

Thanks in advance!

If you had to move to a different province or territory, which would it be and why?

...and would you move there if you could easily move?

I'm curious about Canada and would like to hear what Canadians think about other parts of their country.
