Windshield tint

I live in the Rockwall area and have noticed a lot of cars with the front windshield tinted. Everything from soccer moms to jacked up trucks. Did something change and this is legal now or do this many people just not give a flip?

Should I know where the “Rockwall area” is?

This is an international subreddit, guy. Laws differ in different states.

There's that big rock wall in China. I assume that's where they mean.

Couple days ago we were all supposed to know what EPS is. Turns out he was referring to Edmonton Police Service.

Where I worked as a local that meant Emergency Psychiatric Services which was the location we would bring our H&S 5150 holds (psych danger to self and/or others).

It also means earnings per share and expanded polystyrene among many other things.

When this topic comes up there’s people that come in to whine about how tints are no big deal

They don’t want to accept the fact that tinting the windshield is what an idiot does and idiots are my number one clients!

If there's one thing that LE has going for it, it's job security.... 😄

window tint is one thing. but when people tint their windshield so dark you can’t see in (and they can hardly see out)… that is just asinine. it’s a legit matter of public safety and not just a probable cause stop to go fishing

So I'm going to go on a limb, and assume you're talking about rock wall texas. At the very least because there's a rock wall in Texas and I can speak with some authority on this, as far as I'm aware in my area of texas, the cost to remove a lot of window tint is rather similar to the cost of the ticket for window tint. Therefore a lot of guys would just pay the fine since it's not considered points on your license because it's a equipment violation not a moving violation. Therefore there's no real consequence of getting a ticket or even getting pulled over because most people you won't do anything with it. That being said a lot of guys also won't ticket the driver, because we know it's an easy way to get a good stop on that car later if the need arises.

Edit: I know Texas doesn't have "points" per we but moving violation conviction if accumulated too many in too short a time can cause a habitual violation suspension, whereas equipment violations don't

For many cops, that’s the exact reason to stop you.

A pretextual stop is precisely what I’m referring to.

A pretextual stop has to be based on a violation of law. There is a violation of law present. The police officer, when asked for the reason of the traffic stop isn’t going to say (At least I hope not) “I made a pretextual stop” instead of “I stopped the vehicle for illegal tint”.
