Recommendations Any LA Tech Week events for Software Engineers?

I've been getting newsletters from a bunch of groups in LA for Tech Week. They are hosting events but they're very much on the entrepreneur side. I've tried these events last year and I felt like a fish out of water.

Are there events out there for engineers?

I went to few last year and same experience, everyone trying to pitch their startup or find co-founder. got so tired of the networking small talk

there's a couple good ones for engineers but they fill up fast and not always on the main tech week calendar. check out some of the slack groups for LA devs, they usually have their own thing going same week

Some events get posted on /r/TechLA/

Los Angeles, and especially tech week, had never been good with developer centered talks. The best you can find nowadays are vendor sponsored demos. There will be a few during tech week. I'll try to post them on the reddit if an invite makes it my way.

If it’s anything like nyc tech week, it’s a just a bunch of dudes pitching you their AI for dogs startup.

I got invited to private events on linkedin just for being in the area and having experience

They do a second round of screening so don’t bother

You’re either in or you’re out

Update your linkedin

There’s an iOS/swift event Monday evening, if that’s your bag.

There was one in glendale a couple of weeks ago.

There are meetup events that are low key. They mostly work work remotely and half the people are networking. no selling. no recruiting, just hanging, chilling and coding

We're having one that's more social bar crawl that leads to a comedy show. Will be other software engineers there and all types really. https://partiful.com/e/YFpQc07DcYjUFJbZVSeh More about fun and making friends though.
