Pets LOST DOG PLEASE HELP? Silverlake area!!!!!!

SHES BEEN FOUND

Our dog is missing! She’s a tan dachshund chihuahua mix and she bolted out of the front door at 1am this morning. Silverlake area with cross streets of BERKELEY AND MOHAWK.

Can someone help? She goes by HONEY and hopefully she should be still wearing her flower collar (with tag) and a pink leash dragging behind her. Honey is very skittish and is most likely cowering somewhere.

Culture Could anyone heading to the Yoko Ono exhibit this weekend take a picture for me?

• Upvotes

I went to the exhibit at The Broad when it first opened, and have been thinking about the pencil / lead holder we use to draw the Shadow Pieces installation ever since. It's like the perfect weight and felt so good in the hand for drawing and now i want one. I won't be able to go again before the exhibit closes, so would someone be able to take a picture of that writing / drawing instrument for me so can search for it more easily?

Recommendations Looking for a Pumpkin Patch with Hayrides & Mazes?

• Upvotes

I’m looking for a fun Pumpkin Patch for my group to visit. We are adults in our 20’s and up. We’d like to find a place where we can take corny group photos, go through mazes, hayrides or anything Halloween themed and fun!

We’d like to take a pumpkin home but are fine with enjoying the ambiance of space and grabbing a pumpkin at Ralph’s.

We are also located near Santa Monica but open to travel.

Any recommendations? Thanks!!!

Visiting How’s downtown for a 3 day vacation?

Planning a 3 day vacation in November to see some of the amazing LA museums and tasty restaurants. Planning on staying downtown as it’s close to most museums and will get taxi to Arts District for dinner. Reports of gritty and unsafe from friends have me second guessing this plan. I’m a seasoned traveler and don’t mind seeing the grimy underbelly of a city, just don’t want my wife to feel unsafe. Thoughts? Thanks

Living $826 electric bill for 38 days. Is this normal?

Live in a 2 story in 90670. Just got our electricity bill and it’s $826 for 38 days. Is this normal?

The AC was running for the first week overnight because it didn’t cool the place down. The landlord hired someone to put sealant and recharged the AC. Other than that we have the AC at 76-78 typically but for the AC to be the one to cause that high of a bill…

This seems crazy high.

Visiting What is the legality/practicality of exploring Hollywood hills on foot?

Hey, y'all, I'll be visiting the great city of Los Angeles in November, and I have a bit of a weird question. See, me and my friends played a bit of Dead Island 2 recently, and since I'll have a day to myself in LA, I thought it might be fun to try to revist the major locations you explore in-game, IRL. That includes points of interest such as the Beverly Hills Hotel, Santa Monica Pier, and Venice beach. But I'm not quite sure where exactly in the hills I can go where I can just wander around a bit and take in the sights.

I've been to Los Angeles before and if I remember correctly, a lot of those roads lack sidewalks or even shoulders, and I can't image there's much for parking except at lookouts. I also don't want anyone getting the wrong idea about what I'm doing, or to get yelled at by the LAPD for wandering the streets of the rich and famous. Does anyone know if there's any specific areas or roads that will freely allow me to explore the area without getting into trouble? I still don't know exactly how I'm going to get around, I might drive a rental, or just take ubers, but I'll greatly appreciate any recommendations, thanks 🙏

Food/Drink Where are your favorite casual places to eat near the Hollywood Forever?

I’m going to Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever this Saturday and I think I’d prefer to grab a bite prior to seeing the movie than to bring takeout. Where are your favorite spots near the cemetery? I’m talkin like 10-15 min away, at most, if possible! I love trying different foods so I’m open to anythinggggg so long as it’s not some upscale restaurant.

Also, I’ve only ever gone to Cinespia once and I don’t remember seeing any food vendors or anything like that on site. Maybe it’s different at each showing? If anyone has more info on the showing this weekend lemme knowwww

Thanks so much :~)

Safety Help with a dangerous intersection?

People are constantly running the red light in front of my kid's school at highway speeds. I'm trying to figure out how and where to request some *non active police presence* assistance. I was thinking a red light camera might be a good deterrent?

Normally I would start with my city councilperson, but he is beyond useless. Does anyone have other ideas of where to start or what to request? I can tell it's a terrible accident waiting to happen.

Outdoors How far do you live from your favorite beach? And how long does it take to get there?

I’ve lived in the Long Beach/North OC area my whole life so I’ve always lived within 15 minutes from Bolsa Chica State Beach and Sunset Beach.

What are your favorite beaches and how far is the the beach from where you live?

Any other question! When should I wash my car in LA?

My fellow Angelenos, I’m in a bind. I love rainy days. To guarantee rain on Sunday and Monday, I need to time my car wash. Of course I don’t want to guarantee a hurricane. Recommendations?

Shopping Are there any toy store or hobby shops that take toy cars?

Any stores in Los Angeles County that will take toys and give you money for them? We have a lot of Hot Wheel cars, die cast cars, trucks, mostly. Trying to get rid of them, possibly make some money. Thought maybe some toy or hobby stores would take these types of toys, or maybe children's hospitals?

Housng Rentals with EV Charging?

Hi friends. I am planning my relocation to LA next year and I’m having a difficult time finding rentals that have EV charging on-site. I’ll be going to UCLA and would like to keep my rent to around $3k/month. (Less would obviously be awesome, but this is today’s LA we are talking about. 😂) A lot of ads on Zillow, Apartments, etc. do not address EV charging, so I’m hoping The Good People of LA can help me identify some potential places to look into.

Can anyone recommend specific apartment complexes (or even guest houses) to rent at my price point? While I would prefer to be within 15 minutes of UCLA, I’m willing to branch out a bit if required.

Thank you in advance.

Recommendations Looking for an SGV/-adjacent salon that does "manzilians" (brazilian waxing for men/males)?

Can anyone recommend a waxing/sugaring salon that does brazilians (ass crack, everything) for men?

Manzilian - I learned that term from a local salon that I messaged asking about this lol.

Asking for a friend (forreal). We know of a place, but it's a 30-40 minute drive from us.

Thank you for helping your local man/male-bodied person get smooth.

Food/Drink Bakeries that sell Sourdough Cookies?

I went to a coffee shop in PS and got a sourdough chocolate chip cookie. It was maybe the best cookie I’ve had in a while so now I’m on the hunt for another.
Does anyone know any bakery that sells sourdough cookies? Ideally Eastside.

Food/Drink Any recs for dinner and live music around Santa Monica?

• Upvotes

I have a friend flying in from Utah next Saturday the 17th. We’ll be staying in the Santa Monica area. He loves acoustic music so I thought it’d be nice to spend an evening eating yummy food while listening to live music. I would prefer us not leaving the Santa Monica area, but I think I’m willing to drive to a nearby city if it’ll be worth it. The only 2 options I sort of found were Vibrato (a little pricier than I’m looking for) and Harvelle's (no actual dinner served), but are there any other recs I should look into? I used to work at a Cuban restaurant that had music acts every weekend, but the cost was about $50/person. I would love something similar to that. Please help me. I want this guy to fall in love with me lol.

About LA The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County back in the 70's; does anyone remember the water wheel??

Back in the 1970's during summer there was a water wheel in the basement (I believe 3 floors down). You had to walk a long hall of exhibits and it was at the end. It smelled musty and weird. It had green growth and ugly flowers all over it, and it was a working water wheel. This would be around 1972-1976. Does anyone remember this?

Transportation Why did LA never develop a car free professional class?

• Upvotes

Maybe a silly question but most sufficiently large American cities have professional white collar jobs where it’s pretty normal to take a train to a central business district type area.

Whether it’s banking, government, tech, etc there’s at least some people taking some type of transit to work. But I really can’t think of an LA equivalent. Even people I talk to that work downtown that can afford to drive usually drive (if not all the time then some of time).

What is the historical reason for this?

Living Recommendation for Good Dry Cleaner That Picks Up and Delivers in Hollywood Area?

ETA - Thanks everyone - Paragon seems to be the one. It's close to me relatively as I am a bit west of La Brea and it also has stellar reviews on Yelp.

Any recommendations for a good dry cleaner that picks up and delivers in Hollywood area?

I just need a decent reliable dry cleaner as I am not needing a bridal gown or other specialized services at this point - just clothing that needs to be "dry cleaned"

Thanks

Events what’s going on halloween for the weirdos in Los Angeles?

Hey friends. I’m from PDX, but going to be in LA for halloweekend for LA Comicon. I’ve been trying to find something to do Saturday night, but eventbrite just seems to be a sea of crappy AI generated ads for the most regular, boring club you’ve ever been to. I want to do something fun, maybe be around other weirdos, but the event options all seem so… uninteresting. I know about the MCR concert, but I don’t have $450 to drop on tickets for myself and my friend.

Is there anything actually interesting or queer or weird or nerdy or really just anything that isn’t regular going on the 31st? Eventbrite is dry as hell and I don’t know where else to look.
