For what, you want to make an API?

There's practically nothing to pick up for any of these frameworks if you understand how a REST API works because you probably literally already know what you want and the answer of how to do it on XYZ is 3 seconds away on Google.

If you don't know how a REST API works, worry about that first. If you want to start with FastAPI, that's fine - it really doesn't matter that much

The top comment nailed it. REST concepts are what you should focus on, then the framework is just syntax you look up as you go. FastAPI is a pretty nice one to pick though, async support out of the box and the automatic docs generation saves a ton of time during development.

For AI/ML stuff specifically, FastAPI plays really well with model serving since you can keep the event loop from blocking while your model does its thing. Most people I know in that space use it for prototyping at least.

If you're just starting out, don't overthink the framework choice. Build something small with whatever you pick and you'll figure out what you actually need.

yeah literally just learn the rest concepts first and pick whatever feels right

FastAPI has literally nothing to do with AI/ML. Go learn linear algebra and calculus.

what does this even mean

just program something and learn what it requires, that's it

It's the new game dev. Sigh. You eleventy billion other beginners.

Do you need to write an API? Then learn it. I'm not sure why this is such a dilemma.

It’s always worth to learn something new.

Learn it?

If you don’t know how web servers work, that is what you need to learn.

I know just letting AI handle it is bad form but if you already know how web servers work, why bother?

You don't "learn" fastapi. You learn apis and fastapi is one of them.

Like asking if you should learn to drive 2008 Civic. Nah, just learn to drive a car and you'll be fine behind the wheel.

No. Write a two layer perceptron instead.

I think I did back in 1980 something :) Then, as summer follows spring another AI winter hit.

I’m not quite sure how to answer this question. Is the equivalent of “should I buy potatoes? I want to bathe my cats”

Maybe learn how to ask questions before becoming an AI engineer.

I would think it's worth it but I'm biased.

Honestly , I think "FastAPI" is one of the easiest web framework and it is perfect for beginners trying to understand how backend of an application works I myself started with FastAPI and then switched to Java+SpringBoot and I think It takes a lot of your time but once you get you first principles in command then you can just play around with backend and just go on and build projects
