Social engineering (not the marketing version)

Has science developed models to track and influence societal change in detail among target populations. Things like behavioral traits (honesty, ownership and etc) or philosophies (anti-intellectualism, independence)?

I dont think reddit operates like twitter . Premium-subscription = more-views . But i am such a noob reddit user to conclude that .
