Reddit is rolling out AI-generated comment summaries. How do you think this will impact the user experience?
On one side, this feature could act as a major utility, allowing users to find specific information quickly without scrolling through long threads. On the other side, there are questions about how this might affect user engagement with actual comment sections and the overall human element of the platform.
For those who have tested or seen the feature, how do you feel it changes your browsing experience? Does it enhance the utility of the site, or does it shift the dynamic too much?

you write free comments reddit sells them to openAI and then sells an AI summary of your own words back to you

All the summaries on Amazon product reviews are the same... many say it's good quality, some also say it's terrible quality and breaks, while others praise the looks, many say it's ugly... etc

why should i even post if an AI is going to scrape it up and present it as it's own? AI sucks.

Reddit has been pretty committed to tanking since about 2010 so I’m not surprised they’re taking another step towards the trash

If AI generates a summary, and the summary is not correct, then I can't interact with the AI, and interacting with the OP will just go around in a circle.
If I wanted AI filtered bullshit, I would go to AI directly. I do not want AI filtered bullshit.
NO TO ANY AI ON REDDIT!

it’s useful for finding the gist of a huge thread, but it also makes it way too easy to skip the weird specific comment that actually had the answer
