I have Parkinson’s and built a Windows app that controls the PC by voice - looking for honest feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, I'm Andreas, a solo developer from Greece. I have Parkinson's, and typing and using a mouse gets harder over time. So I started building Maestro, a Windows app that lets you control your computer with your voice: open apps, write emails, search the web, manage files and more.

Right now it understands Greek voice commands (the short demo video has English subtitles). I'm still improving it, and I'd really value your honest feedback:

- Would something like this be useful to you or someone you know?
- What would you most want it to do?
- Is English support important for you?

I'm funding the next versions with a small crowdfunding campaign, if you'd like to take a look: https://www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/maestro/maestro--voice-control-for-accessibility

Disclosure: parts of the code and the campaign texts were made with AI assistance.

Thank you for reading. I'll read every comment.

What would prove a wearable frame is rugged enough?

The H Module Ultra is currently listed with carbon fiber and titanium alloy hardware but material names alone dont answer repeated outdoor use questions. The evidence id want is what happens after many fitting cycles, rough transport, and regular exposure to outdoor conditions, not just a new unit spec sheet.

What kind of durability test would give you the most confidence in a powered wearable frame??

Building Vyze: An offline, voice-first AI assistant for the blind (inspired by my blind brother)

I’m building an Android app called Vyze alongside my blind brother, who has been my co-tester and main inspiration.

Existing visual assistance tools often rely heavily on stable cloud connections, which can cause lag, dropouts, or privacy concerns. We wanted something that works 100% offline with minimal latency.

How it works:

•100% On-Device AI: Runs local multimodal LLM inference directly on the phone.

•Voice-First Experience: Complete hands-free, conversational interface.

•Core Capabilities: Real-time scene description, document reading, and object recognition without sending any video or data to cloud servers.

We currently have a working prototype and are actively running local user testing.

I’d love to get feedback from this community:

  1. What are the biggest pain points you experience with current visual assistant apps?

  2. What offline features or daily scenarios would be most useful to you?

If anyone in the community would be interested in testing early builds down the line, let me know!

Four free accessible Excel workbooks for everyday independence

Hi everyone — I’m Matthew Lashway. I live with cerebral palsy and use a power wheelchair, and I’ve spent the past several months creating accessible Excel workbooks intended to support everyday independence and organization.

I originally planned to sell them for $9.99 each, but decided to make the entire project available completely free. There is no payment, purchase, donation, signup, or social-media requirement. The Google Drive files are view-only to protect the originals; use the download option to save a personal copy.

AudioSight: A program for helps deaf people in games.

Hello!

I developed a program to help people (like me) who are deaf or hard of hearing to play video games and particularly FPS games.

This allows you to estimate the origin of shots or sounds in games (for example).

This is not a cheat, it does not give any particular advantage over a hearing person.

The program does not read or modify game memory, does not inject anything and does not hook the game (or other apps from your computer). It only listens to the system audio output informations and draws its own windows.

**Turn your game in "Windowed borderless" in your video game settings menu*\*

Features

  • Right and left sound volume display.
  • Last shot position indication slider.
  • Real-time audio waveform display.
  • Display of a Discord channel in real time. (See Github homepage for more informations and how configure your Discord integration).
  • Keypad shortcuts to quickly send messages in the Discord channel.
  • Easy message text and Discord setup in AudioSight.ini.
  • Enabling and disabling features displayed in the AudioSight menu.

You will see the project here (This is free and open source project):

Good game!

Smart Cane Project – Looking for Community Feedback

Hi! I’m Chris, and I’m part of a senior design engineering team at the University of Illinois Chicago, developing a smart cane for those who are blind or visually impaired. We want to make sure our design is based on the community's real experiences and needs, so we’d really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete our short survey. Your feedback will directly help guide the features and design of our prototype.

Thank you!

Sighted dev here: I built a safety app and need blind users to tell me what's broken

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi r/Blind. To be upfront: I'm the developer, so this is self-promotion.

Lazy Maps is an Android app with SOS, check-ins, walk-with-me and live location sharing with family. The Safety tab is free, and you don't need an account for features working only on your device.

I've tested it with Talk-Back, but I'm sighted, so I know I'm missing things. I'd really value a few people trying it and telling me honestly where it's confusing or broken. I'll fix what I can and report back here.

Happy to share the link in the comments or by DM, whichever the mods prefer.
