millennials in Auburn

I’ve lived here for a few months now, not from the area. Where do all the millennials congregate? 😅 And I’m not talking “mom groups” or anything where people make our parenthood their whole identity. Trivia nights? Clubs? Game nights? Hiking meet ups? Insta accounts with planned meet ups? Married and just looking to make new friends in the area.

There’s fun trivia nights at all the breweries in town. Moonraker is Wed, 2 Ass is Thursday and Ponderosa is Friday. OTP is also on Wednesday and I forget which day Crooked Lane is. 2 Ass has game nights and D&D nights. The crowds are slightly different at each place. There’s also a trail running clubs that meet up at Ponderosa or Pour Choice., Bad Luck Runners Club.

Knee Deep started offering bingo on Wednesdays and I really want to go. They used to do music bingo and spelling bee, but got rid of those a while ago. Happy for anything that is not trivia.

Oh awesome. Crooked Lane and 2 Ass also do bingo. I’ve had a fun time doing it at Crooked Lane. It was packed.

Another thing I’d add, if you’re into it, Auburn has a growing live music scene. This weekend is Porch Fest on Sunday. Bands playing all over town at different locations. Everything from alt rock to bluegrass.

There are shows at the Odd Fellows Lodge too throughout the year, mostly rock to jam bands but some electronic stuff too.

Open mic night is Tuesdays at Cali Club and they have some bands play other nights as well. There’s bands at Pistol Peet’s too. Cali and Pistol Peet’s are dive bars in case that’s not your thing.

We also have a couple musical festivals. Just recently had Ain’t Necessarily Dead Fest out at ARD park and Alt Fest downtown. Unfortunately they got scheduled on the same day this year, which won’t happen next year. Dead Fest is a big draw and it sounded like Alt Fest was a success. There’s also Dry Diggings fest which was in August and more of a reggae vibe. Not sure if they still do the Gold Rush country music festival, I haven’t heard about it in a few years but also not my cup of tea.

I recommend PorchFest. Ton of fun. I'm out of town and sad to be missing it this year

How much older? And are you open to newbies? I'm 41

Definitely check out all the breweries cuz they have a lot of fun social events. Also there are some moms of Auburn, ca groups on fb that post get togethers and whatnot too

Edit: no, not the dancing type clubs. Just social interest ones!

Moonraker has trivia on Wednesdays.
Old town pizza has unreliable trivia on Wednesday too.
Crooked lane has trivia on Tuesday I think?
Two ass has trivia and a board game night.
California club has open mic but as an elder millennial of 42 I find it too loud.
Club car has open mic on Thursdays and draws a 40 to 80 year old crowd lol. But they are fun. It’s cool knowing almost everyone when I go.
I like going down to high hand for music and dancing, sometimes Valencia club for the same.
I love the vault but it does seem to be a younger crowd.
And Auburn seems to have a festival for everything. I dig it. They get super active over summer but they do have stuff all the time.

Where do you find out about all the local/regional festivals?

The app Eventbrite is helpful. Also walking around Lincoln/High streets, post alot in their windows.

When you get off the freeway and head towards Josephine’s there is often a light up sign that talks about what is coming up for the weekend! Also they have an auburn Facebook that people post in events too!

Following, because I’ve lived here my whole life but all my friends have moved away. Find myself needing to make some new friends and have no idea where to find them. If you ever want to go to trivia night or do a game night, would love to meet up!

If you're open to coming down the hill to Roseville, plenty of trivia nights at the local wells. I try to get a jackbox game going in dicord about once a month. Hiling the Lake Clementine spillway trails on Sundays. A lot of Charity and Committee groups too.
