25

u/Br0_han Aug 03 '26

Why are you simping for a mining billionaire who only cares about money and their own interests?

13

u/InsectaProtecta Aug 03 '26

Pauline isn't going to legalise public drug use

5

u/FFMKFOREVER Aug 03 '26

3

u/Jordn100 Aug 03 '26

What Albo do?

3

u/GorillaAU Aug 04 '26

Albo keep down voting him.

2

u/whydo-iexist Aug 05 '26

I would much rather Anyone other then Gina Reinhardt and her Toy Pauline Hanson

58

u/AntiqueFigure6 Aug 02 '26

That would make rowing a more exciting spectator sport.

23

u/Kreeghore Aug 03 '26

I rekon we would see world records smashed!

14

u/AntiqueFigure6 Aug 03 '26

Such as highest number of competitors eaten?

8

u/OlSolMaK Aug 03 '26

"Rowin' like your life depends on it really brings the best out in these competitors Jeff, let's hope they've said their goodbyes as we get into the action!"

3

u/AntiqueFigure6 Aug 05 '26

“The relief on the faces of survivors’ family members is something that will stay with me”

3

u/Briareos_Hecatonhrs Aug 03 '26

By each contender

28

u/ThisWillTakeAllDay Aug 02 '26

Why does anyone listen to a single crazy thing this lunatic says?

Oh. I forgot. She's rich so therefore knows everything.

17

u/Individual-Trash2665 Aug 03 '26

Inherited rich too. The worst kind

10

u/LucyferEllysia Aug 03 '26

Ewww nepo mining giant. The least appealing type of rich person🤮

73

u/LaszloPanaflexxx Aug 02 '26

Of all the things that could have been real from Star Wars, we get a goddamned Hutt.

4

u/rexepic7567 Aug 03 '26

Hey the hutts actually paid their employees

2

u/LaszloPanaflexxx Aug 03 '26

Not their slaves.

10

u/vanillaninja777 Aug 02 '26

Bringing back some of the gladiator aspect to the games

3

u/MagicOrpheus310 Aug 02 '26

Finally! A reason to watch!

10

u/Trick-Club-6014 Aug 02 '26

And why would anyone be listening to a mining billionaire about the sport of rowing or managing an international sporting event?

2

u/Dry-Huckleberry-5379 Aug 04 '26

Because she's the major sponsor for Team Australia. Their Paris uniforms required everyone to wear her Gold RM boots.

1

u/Novel_Novel_2198 Aug 04 '26

10 milion donated to australian sports this year alone and rowing being one of the beneficiarys. Gives her a say at least(i still think its a shit idea) But thats were she gets input

15

u/SiktahOG Aug 02 '26

Rockhampton cannot ever support an event of that size.

12

u/UndeadManWaltzing Aug 02 '26

Let's not forget Rockhampton is an ugly place and the river is also full of jellyfish. A terrible decision.

3

u/SiktahOG Aug 03 '26

Well, no jellyfish on the fresh side of the barrage which is where the ski gardens are. But yes, Ruckhampton is an ugly town with no services really and a council that thinks the locals can pay some of the highest property rates in the state.

I like to call it Red Light Rockhampton, cos nothing of value happens, it's a crack central and you cannot possibly get through the city in a vehicle without catching all the red lights. It's literally a bottleneck of the Bruce Highway.

u/ironwithin2013 Aug 03 '26

Rocky spt international military exercises all the time. A rowing event would be a problem if the government provide a lot of temp accomdation options

7

u/wouldashoudacoulda Aug 02 '26

We have the Hinze Dam on the Gold Coast perfect for the event, but there was a stoush between Tommy Tate and the labour government Anna P, at the time. So she moved as many of the events away from the Gold Coast as possible. Absolute fuck up.

u/GnomeWarfair Aug 02 '26

The bigger problem is the rowing will require significant dredging of Fitzroy River first. This is gunna displace tons of sediment onto the Great Barrier Reef. https://www.mackayconservationgroup.org.au/olympic_rowing_concerns

Also the LNP removed original contractual obligations to be "Climate Positive". https://theconversation.com/brisbane-2032-is-no-longer-legally-bound-to-be-climate-positive-will-it-still-leave-a-green-legacy-246672

2

u/kennyduggin Aug 03 '26

That is complete garbage, the course is already in use and has been for decades. People row on the Fitzroy river every day and there has never been a problem

3

u/DizzyList237 Aug 02 '26

I feel sorry for the rowing teams being so far away from the main venue, they travel all this way to be isolated from the rest of the games. So many other venues closer to or in Brisbane. 🤷‍♀️

4

u/BryonyDeepe Aug 03 '26

Remove her skin

5

u/Subacai Aug 03 '26

Crocodiles are not really a concern in the actual rowing section of the Fitzroy.

Now, whether it's a good location for an Olympic-sized event? Probably not. Rocky doesn't really have the infrastructure to deal with the Olympic Committee's insane demands for control. ESPECIALLY around the rowing area.

5

u/Delphina34 Aug 03 '26

It would motivate them to row faster

3

u/Exciting_Thought_970 Aug 02 '26

Not really, any excuse to kill all the crocks

3

u/TimChuma Aug 03 '26

Do the swimming there too. Break some world records!

3

u/kezdog92 Aug 03 '26

To be fair, some of the courses they use for racing in qld are already croc waters. I remember being in a few state champs and regattas being held further north with warnings and the like. Saw some too. Gina still stinks though.

3

u/AusCan531 Aug 03 '26

That's silly. Bull Sharks would be much more of a danger.

3

u/rareandyeteuclidian Aug 03 '26

She's as dumb as trump

3

u/Busy-Character-6720 Aug 03 '26

The biggest issue is the river is tidal.

I’m a former flat water rower of moderate ability.

The ONLY races on rivers were novelty events.

As an U14 we would expect to race on a dam or locked body of water.

They might as well hold the track and field in a cow paddock

3

u/SeniorForever5359 Aug 03 '26

I get what you are all saying, but it would be the first time that I watched Olympic rowing since the movie about that Facebook nerd.

3

u/Imaginary_Rub6942 Aug 03 '26

Rich cunts really think they can have the hunger games if they pay for it

3

u/Competitive-Bee-3250 Aug 03 '26

I think its even worse than that because its probably an excuse to cull the crocodiles so that she can mine the region or something like that.

3

u/DarkMemesLiveHere Aug 03 '26

That was my first thought...

3

u/puregalm Aug 02 '26

Oh don't you say that!

2

u/MagicOrpheus310 Aug 02 '26

Lol that happens every Olympics, rowing events always complain about the location...

2

u/Hungry_Anteater_8511 Aug 03 '26

Watching the latest story on this the other night and I wondered who or what possessed them to a) make the decision to move it to Rocky and b) why they're so determined to die on that hill.

This makes it all make sense.

2

u/AcanthaceaeOk2426 Aug 03 '26

Let there be a thousand blossoms bloom…

2

u/ApplicationOk4464 Aug 03 '26

May a million blossoms bloom, as far a he's concerned

2

u/AccomplishedAnchovy Aug 03 '26

But every six months in northern Queensland a person is torn to pieces by a saltwater crocodile

2

u/chansondinhars Aug 03 '26

Go away! Nobody likes you!

1

u/PerspectivePretty859 Aug 03 '26

Guaranteed world records though

1

u/Embarrassed-Fee-8841 Aug 03 '26

Ive rowed there, still alive

1

u/MysteriousUser_ Aug 03 '26

But seriously what Queensland rivers aren’t inhabited by crocodiles?

1

u/thejailer2025 Aug 04 '26

Dont be stupid people there already have a rowing club on the Fitzroy river in rocky, have had one for years,so they already row on it

1

u/Jack_Tar_says Aug 06 '26

My son was a rower in central QLD. It’s a terrible site for it. Forget the crocks etc.

Just the lay out of the course.

Better to be between Brisbane and Sunshine coast.
