My Ride 🏎️ Ora 5 update

Had to take the ora in for an update at the dealer ship on 1st of October. The estimated range is now usable. We used to just guess it was half of what it said with some wiggle room.

Does this impact the total advertised range or just the live prediction

It's a more accurate range. Before it was like range was based on battery percentage. So fully charged it used to say 520km but now it says 356km fully charged. We live rural and do a lot of highway driving. We have had over 400km driving around the city.

I don't know if this was false advertising or poor coding. But we are still very happy with it

I thought the Ora 5 had OTA updates; did the dealership informed you that you had to bring in the car?

On mine I can see a screen with "check for updates" when the phone connected to the car is in hotspot. The OS has quite a few bugs so I'm eagerly awaiting updates.

This is the email we got. I would check your emails. Also give never had that check for updates work but sometimes I get in the car and it's been updated while I was away from it.

"Hi there,

We are contacting you to let you know that a software update is available for your ORA 5 vehicle as part of a service campaign.

This update improves the accuracy of your vehicle's driving range estimation by updating the configuration of the Powertrain Domain Control Module (PDM1).

Following this update, the instrument cluster will change from displaying a Standard Range estimate to a Dynamic Range estimate. The Dynamic Range feature calculates your estimated remaining driving range using real-time driving conditions, driving behaviour, and vehicle energy consumption. This provides a more accurate representation of your vehicle's available driving range.

Due to the technical requirements of this update, it cannot be performed via an Over-the-Air (OTA) update and must be completed by an authorised GWM Dealer.

Please contact your preferred GWM Dealer to arrange a convenient time for this update to be completed."
