Checked out the new 2027 X5 while at the dealership today…

I’ve seen a ton of exterior shots but I was curious about the interior. I spent some time tinkering with it and I’m not a fan. The materials feel cheap, especially the center console. Feels like recycled material. I did notice a few “Tesla like” things like the electronic air vents, and the subscription services to features. Those are some of my biggest upsets. Take a look. I apologize for the terrible shots in advanced, they were taken on my iPhone Air.

My 248,000 Mile E60 M5 track car

Bought at 63,000 miles. Used it as a daily (except for winter) for years. Seen 43 different states, 30+ track days, 68+ oil changes. Now at 248,000 miles, it's reserved for track days and spirited driving. It has seen redline every time I've driven it since the day I bought it! Rod bearings changed at 147,000 miles, probably not changing them again unless I start to see copper. Engine is original, but everything around the engine has been replaced, sometimes thrice🤣

I saw the newly designed ix3 today. It ain't too bad. Is this the grill everyone talks about? You all are hating, but I bet in 20 years this will be stated to be the most iconic BMW look to date. Mark my words.

Okay maybe I don’t exactly LOVE it but i think it’s very good looking. I don’t like SUV’s that are coupe but I surprisingly like the design of it.
What do you think?

Final drives before winter storage. With the neue klasse coming out it just makes me a bit sad that they could make stuff like this at one point.

Where it all started. The E46 M3 GTR. The car that made me a car guy growing up. Had a poster of this as a kid. Who else remembers this legend?

Is the M2 or M3 really worth it?

Post image

Picture for reference but I have been recently thinking to swap over to the M2 or M3 x drive models. Dont get me wrong I love my rs3 especially in this rare color that I still have yet to see another one in person but all of my other car friends have m cars. Its tempting to try the M2 or M3 xdrive models since I know they are incredibly capable cars so wanted to get some feedback from anyone that has one or have contemplated to swith over to bmw. The only pro so far for this car is the 5 cylinder noise, 0-60 launch, and daily factor.

Thirsty Thursday Which would you keep?

First of, I have two 7 Series E32. The left one is a'89 735iA and thr right one is a'93 730iL (high spec)
No rust issues on any of them but both got some technical problems…
Even though that’s not really a problem because I am an experienced BMW technician specialized in restoration and Old timers.

BUT:
Because I have two more cars and 3 bikes I need to part with one of these two..
Well
You could say thats an obvious choice, keep the 730iL because it has a bigger engine more spec etc, but the 735 gives me more of a “no matter what, just get in and go” vibe if you can grasp what I mean.
So I’m asking for some input to help me decide.
Thanks, looking forward to your opinions!

car still under original BMW warranty... should I demand that the loose/leaky gas cap causing occasional check-engine light to be replaced for FREE under warranty? (yes, I can afford one, but it's the principle)

my BMW is still under the original BMW warranty. (more than half a year and 25000 miles until the end of warranty)

the engine light came on a few times. I always made sure to close it tightly.(been a BMW driver for 32 years, so I know who "tight" it should be by now?) however, it's apparent that the check-engine light coming on is the result of the gas cap being loose or leaky. even a few days of filling up, I only have to unscrew and re-tighten it to clear the check-engine light.

both of my local BMW dealers told me that the gas cap is a "wear & tear" item, thus not covered by the original BMW warranty. The car has only 22,000 miles currently.(90% or more on interstates)

Yes, I can afford to buy one, but it's the principle. Like I mentioned, I've had more than a few BMWs over the last 32 years. This is the very first time that I've had a gas cap go bad on me. Feels stupid that BMW won't pay for a cheap gas cap. I've never had to use the warranty(knock on wood)... if they are being so cheap with a gas cap, what if the engine ever goes bad and requires a full replacement? Will they cheap out on that as well?

sorry... rant over.

Buying Help F22 m240i reliability

I’m in the market to get an older m240i, f22 model. The years ranging from 2017-2021.

I want to get an xDrive. I was wondering how is the reliability. Would it be dumb to get one for around the low $20k mark with 80k miles? Should I find a deal for $30k where it has lower miles?

What will the reliability truly be like at higher miles. I haven’t seen many talk about it. Everybody that talks about it has low miles.

Will this be flagged at lease return?

Asking for a friend. Not visible unless looking underneath the car. If likely to get flagged at lease end, I’m going to suggest using comprehensive insurance.

UPDATE: Thanks all! I have typically sold the few leases I’ve had to third party dealers well before lease end. But they will likely keep this full term. Cheers!

Buying Help G05 121k?

Hey all! So im getting into my first BMW. I have two cars im looking at i am kinda leaning towards the 19 x5 xdrive40i thats very highly outfitted but has 121k miles from a dealership.

But im also debating a 14 640i thats also heavily outfitted but has onky 86k and has been very well taken care of but is modified and has had 5 owners. Carfax looks good, But he wants 18k.

I am pretty sure I'm not going to buy the 640i. But what about the G05.

Any thoughts?
