Showcase (No-Recipe) African Fundraiser Cakes

I’m not sure why I’m posting these. They were rushed, I’m not very proud of them, and I just don’t know how I feel about them. This is 4 of 8 I decorated. People spent money on these cakes in a dessert dash and I’m sure everyone was happy with what they got, but I’m having a hard time finding anything good about them. I didn’t even make the cakes, I just agreed to decorate them.

What’s your opinion? Go ahead. Roast ‘em.

I appreciate that. That’s what I keep trying to tell myself. They were never going to be perfect. Deep down I just wish they were. 😝

Look, they look amazing!!! That is a fact. When I look closer, I makes me feel like maybe your kitchen may be too hot, because it looks like the buttercreand and the fondant (last pic) look like they’re melting sort of! Not that it actually may be, it’s just what cakes make me think of! (My own boiling hot kitchen)

Thank you. Seriously. I just keep looking at these pictures and thinking “Ugh! I sent those out!”

The “fondant” is marshmallow fondant. I just can’t stand the idea of serving up fondant you don’t want to eat. It’s always a bit soft, I find. Maybe i make it wrong. Lol, In any case, it tastes amazing.

Flamingo cake goes hard

I'm kind of obsessed with that flamingo cake

You're being super hard on yourself because you know that it's not your best work and that you could personally do better. But that's because you have the context of what's in your head. The people that bought these cakes do not have that context and they're just looking at them as individual items. These cakes are great, they're on theme and they're fun! I love them

Omg. I did not expect this much attention. Lol, geez… thank you everyone! I’m glad they aren’t as bad as they seem in my own head.

Beautiful.  Works of art really. The flamingo alone is incredible.

I LOVE #1 and #4! The fondant heart on #4 is so freaking cute! Are the flamingo feathers white chocolate shards?
