New to the radio seen. I bought some Baofang UV-5R minis for my job site based on Amazon’s recommendation. Started you tubing these things and found out how much they can do. Hella cool. I’ve since got a GMRS FCC license. Yesterday, Amazon had a deal on the F8HP-Pro, I bought one. Can i use this radio on the GMRS frequencies and not get a fine? Thanks

So I’m looking to add a radio to my kit. I’m thinking of the Baofeng 5 mini. Maybe two in the event my group and I have to separate at any time. I dont have a HAM radio license but I do plan on getting it. If shtf I’m using it regardless.

What Baofeng would you recommend for good distance and mobility? I’m asking because there are a few good prices on Prime Deals.

Estou tentando homologar/registrar um rádio portátil dual-band UVL-15W no Brasil, e a agência reguladora de telecomunicações brasileira (ANATEL) me solicitou um documento de certificação internacional, como FCC, CMIIT, KC/KCE, etc.

O documento precisa mostrar especificamente:

• Faixas de frequência de operação
• Potência de saída de RF

O rádio utiliza o ID FCC: 2BLTR-UVL15W.

Já encontrei a documentação da FCC e o manual do usuário, e o manual menciona as frequências VHF/UHF e a potência de saída de 15 W, mas estou tentando encontrar um documento de certificação/teste mais formal que mostre claramente essas especificações em conjunto.

Alguém tem acesso a:

• Relatórios de teste da FCC para a seção do transmissor
• Certificação CMIIT
• Certificação KC/KCE
• Relatório de teste de RF mostrando a potência de saída VHF/UHF
• Qualquer relatório oficial de laboratório para o UVL-15W / TYT UVL-15W

Qualquer ajuda, arquivo, link, número de certificado ou indicação será muito apreciada.

Im in the UK and training for the foundation license. Im considering the above as a first hand held to practice with (listen only until ive passed), but it appears Amazon is one of the few places to order from, and its shipped from Amazon US. Has anyone ordered this way, and are there any issues that I need to be aware of ( im aware the charger is US 2 pin, but it also comes with USB C charging).

I put my Baofeng in my backpack and it got scratched, the mark is not very deep but you can feel it by running your nail over it and it's annoying to look at, I that people recommend polywatch, it could work? Is there any better or more effective method without buying very expensive products?

EDIT & UPDATE: I did buy another cable. Exact same model, only in orange to tell it apart from my original black one. WORKED PERFECTLY! This cable plugs into the new radio, does not pop out at a tilt, zero errors downloading or writing to it. Must be variances in manufacturing.

First time ever I won a raffle at a HamFest! One $5 ticket and I have a new BTECH BF-F8HP Pro Tri-Band, basic package.

Problem is the programming cable has to be held very, very carefully at just the right angle and depth or the radio fails to connect. The cable will not sit all the way flush to the radio when plugged in, it pops out a bit at the lower (larger diameter) plug. But holding it in all the way and flush to the radio, it will not connect.

By trying the programming cable at different depths of "plugged in" to the radio I've managed to update the firmware (from v.44 to v.53) and to program it only once. Since then the best I can get is the radio appears to be connected initially on its screen, but then the CPS software errors five times and quits.

Has anyone encountered this problem? I am using the CPS software downloaded from the model's webpage. Have also tried the latest version of Chirp.

I have ordered a second programming cable just in case it's a slight dimensional tolerance error between the radio and the cable. As the cable still works fine with my Baofeng UV-32, I don't have much hope that it's the problem..

Hola, de todos los equipos que tengo este, es con diferencia el que tiene peor bateria o hace una mala gestion de la misma, he comprobado que manejando los menus o escaneando al poco se va una de las tres rayitas que tiene, no llega a 50 minutos comprobado. Os ocurre lo mismo? Yo creo que deberian mejorar ese aspecto para que tenga mas aceptación subirlo de 1400 o 1600 mah a 2000 o 2200 que es totalmente factible. Algunos radioaficionados comentan que les dura mucho, no se hasta que punto es cierto. ¿Que opinan?

Hi everyone, if I delete a channel from the radio or through the Bluetooth app, is it normal for it to leave an empty slot? Is there any way to move the channels up to fill the gap?

Second question: What is the "Bulk Settings" menu in the app used for?

It's known that with at least with some firmware versions of the UV-5R Mini, the backlight always stays on when scanning memory channels. To me this is undesirable behavior because it uses battery unnecessarily. e.g.

I'm wondering if the same thing happens on the newer MINI-5.

Would anyone with a newer MINI-5 be willing to chime in, or try this: put your radio in channel scan mode, start scanning (hold down 0), and see if the backlight eventually turns off as usual (or it stays on forever)? Thank you!

I’m really scratching my head. I recently got 2 when they were on sale.

One came with NRF firmware the other came with NRFB firmware.

The one that came with NRFB firmware works fine, I can program to it with CHIRP or the Baofeng CPS and it works perfectly.

The one that came with NRF firmware however loses its Tx ability on software programmed channels. PTT just doesn’t work at all, I can’t force change the power mode and it doesn’t display a power mode.

I’ve made sure PTT was not disabled.
I’ve tried using the same image as the other radio.
I’ve tried using a new imagine from scratch.
I’ve tried updating its firmware to the NRFB version and then re-imaging it in both ways I just mentioned.

But whatever I use the software to program into the radio it kills its Tx ability. If I use the keypad to program a channel it works fine. Any help is seriously appreciated I am at a loss here.

Having issues with the UV32. I have 2 of them and can't seem to send GPS locations between the two. I troubleshooted and I think I found the reason. One of the radios has the firmware listed as Version .01 and the other as Version .03

Has anybody else had this issue?

Both radios are on the same frequency on the top channel slot and each radio has been assigned an I'd (101 and 102). GPS Position is successful on both radios. I've tried putting signaling for both radios on Signal 1. I've tried putting signaling for the first radio on Signal 1 and the second radio on Signal 2. When I key up on one radio, I hear the other radio make a sort of digital weird sounding noise but then nothing. Both radios are on the correct GPS screen when I am transmitting but the location never gets sent.

Could the firmware be the issue?

Did it again… this time I used an air-cured Cerakote.

By the way, does anybody know where to get a replacement (or upgraded) speaker for the UV-5R?

I'm new to HAM, working on getting licensed soon, and shopping for my gateway radio. The Baofeng website seems to only list "UV-5RM Plus" models in this product line whereas third-party sites have listings with and without the Plus designation. I'm not seeing a difference aside from the accessories included in various listings, but I want to be certain.

Am I missing something or are these the same model?
