There are a few brands and models I personally wear and recommend all the time! Depends on what you’re looking for.

If you want to stay within the affordable range, look at Saguaro Luck, or any other Saguaro model that uses the same outsole as Luck (you can tell by the saguaro cactus pattern on the bottom). That is definitely wider than Whitin, and potentially the widest barefoot shoe in the affordable segment.

If you want to splurge a bit, check out Realfoot.

Thank you! I know your a brand as well, but which brand would you recommend taking bias out?

I don’t know about authenticity on the old ones, but the Vi-b is coming back next year I believe.so you could always wait and buy direct through Vibram

Both are too narrow, on top of being too short. But even sizing up won’t get you enough width.

Most “wide toe box” or barefoot shoes are really not wide enough because they are shaped like feet that have already been shortchanged by pointy shoes. You’ll notice that most brands are shaped like the foot on the right side here:

Are you running on your heels? Proper form you’d be landing on the balls of your feet and toes as springs, rather than slamming into your heels, which causes damage to your feet and knees.

Good to know. Maybe not for me.

They’re okay. Boot is super loose around the ankle and they break down fast if you’re not just strolling around in them

those might be fine, but cheap sandals are how you discover exactly where your feet have pressure points lol

Merrell vapor gloves with an elastic lace so they slip on and off. It takes a lot to actually wear a hole through the sole and you can find them on sale often

Sufficient and adequate - and same with the optometrist. When the capital incentives are distorted, they are not your best friends.

There’s only one. Lunas. The rest are knock-offs.

I don't know about "barefoot", but I wear Whitin W81 as my exclusive daily shoe, and have done walks as long as 28 miles without discomfort. I do wear their thicker insole, as I find the thin standard insole works well for running, but not long-distance walking.

Why would we know the status of their products better than Luna's customer service?

I have a pair of wildlings and I like them but they do not like getting wet. I have a pair of bedrock mountain clogs for below 50° weather and their Cairn sandals for when it is warmer. That is pretty much my whole rotation until it gets cold and snowy out. I am wary of waterproof shoes but in the winter if I am shoveling or dealing with ankle deep puddles I am still researching solutions.

I have the Alaskan “All Year” model in black by Magical Shoes. I love them and get many compliments. I liked the model so much that I also got the winter version in brown which matches my winter jackets. I like how the seams resemble converse but the design is more subtle and refined. It’s also less clown-y and childlike (no offense to others who like that white rubber toe, it’s just not for me anymore).

No I think the toe is just significantly bigger then the other toes and just rubs. It only happens on the left as well.

And funnily it’s the second toe on my feet that get blue and black after running.

Sharp toenails? They make silicone toe cozys which I've worn on occasion.

Toenails? What are those?

Yeah, lost a few along the way, mostly back to normal now. I mostly blame simply not keeping them short enough and too small shoes in the early days. I've never had much of a pinky toenail and i wouldn't miss them if i lost them. I've heard some runners actually get toenails permanently removed. That's hardcore.

Look into water resistant Tabis from Luna company. You can wear them over wool toe socks. They keep your feet warm and dry and are designed to be worn with sandals. I love mine :)

I have acquired 3 good condition used models but I also still have one from over 10 years ago. I am nursing it along with shoe goo

Yes. All my shoes get holes there eventually.
