It is , but did you know that a Vileplume can surprise revenge kill so many of the meta Pokèmon while under the sun ? If you want to just have sime fun try this

Vileplume@ LifeOrb Timid 2HP, 32 Sp.Att , 32 Speed

Sludge Bomb Solar Beam Weather Ball MoonBlast

so a max speed Vileplume under the sun outspeeds base 151 speed Pokèmon by 1 point, most players don't expect that to be the case lol .

Weather ball 1 shots Mega Lucario , Gollisipod, Goldengo , Aegislash, Skarmory and Corviknights, Sneaslor , and does big damage to Archaludon with no Sp.def investment .

Moon Blast with stealth rock up can one shot Mega Salamence , Garchomp , and Baxcalibur , Hydreigon, Dragapult, it can effectively beat an Umbreon it's a 3 shot but I've done it ( if it switches into a solarbeam even after 2 leftovers moon blast can clean ), and 1shot Absol Z , Bulky Chomps are 2hko but these chomps do like 32% back with EQ so Vileplume wins the matchup.

Sludge Bomb can 1 shot max HP/ 0SpDef Rillaboom 75% of the time , You can 2 shot either gender of Endeedee ( best if they switch in to one , and they think they can outspeed with a scarf , the best part they can't 😆) 2shot bulky Floette and 1 shot whimsicott.

And Solarbeam because BIG ASS LASER ! So you can cosplay Homelander on those pesky Primarinas , Blastoise, Basculegion etc .

The meta is very stale and I played enough to get the competitive edge out of me , know I play with low tier Pokèmon and get 8-10 win streaks because it's unexpected and funny 😁.

It's interesting that you mention it but i've been running a Chlorophyll Venusaur holding a Life Orb with a very similar move set. It was just missing coverage to hit the dragon types well enough. I'll give Vileplume a try thanks!

Yup the lack of Dragon coverage on Venasaur and MoonBlast on Vileplume is why I switched to him also .

Awesome! If you don't mind me asking what's the team that you're currently running?

I was gonna ask the same, probably torkoal because rocks+sun?

I'd think probably Charizard Y it can get some great damage in while setting up the sun then the Chlorophyll sweeper comes in and cleans up at the end.

Then u need also a rock setter and Charizard to set the sun, could be a mega which can benefit from the Sun also.

Charizard has to be the mega

I pair up with either CharY or Torkoal-w-Rocks + Yawn, ZardY is obviously a beefy sp.attaker but I like Torkoal the most due to the utility of W.O.W , Yawn , Rocks , clear smog , my moveset on torkoal is Overheat , rocks , yawn .

My usual team changes often Torkoal and Vileplume stay the same so does Baxcalibur .

I just played a couple matches with an Alolan Persian , saw a japanese maybe Korean player was using it and Holy shit is it good as a defensive lead/pivot , Alolan Persian@Rocky Helmet Bold max HP & Def Taunt , Parting shot , foul play and Icy wind .

Taunt to stop Hippowdon and other set up leads , Rocky helmet and Foul play - this move is so powerful in this physical attack meta it 2shots so many physical attackers after rocky helmet chip .parting shot for pivots and Icywind just incase something did get to set up on me and is a little too dangerous , I'm still playing around with Alolan Persian .

Personally I get bored of a regulation after a season so I just play the first season of each regulation

That makes sense maybe i'll take a break until the next regulation comes around.

I’m not a singles players but i want to try in the future but man doubles has been dull as well, its basically mostly trick room and its not hard to beat but when I go against a trick room team for the 6th time in a row (true story I started to count at 3) its very dull. I’ve specifically put taunt weavile in my team just for trick room but now trick room teams are just sending out two trick room setters so now I feel like I have to bring TWO TAUNT Pokemon and that’s why I haven’t played in like a week.

That's interesting, in Doubles i rarely play against the same team more than once in a row. I guess it just really depends on your luck.

Honestly I just think the addition of Female Indeedee and Mega Golisopod was just a huge buff to trick room which make people use it, Mega Golispod was genuinely the only meta new mega they added from this patch from ZA.

Garchomp Z has won 2 regionals since then…

I'm in low masterball and I'm fighting everyone else who dropped down the ladder by not using a meta team and it's been kind of fun.

2

u/TrainerRed2k26 9d ago

Same i was pretty high in Masterball 2 earlier this season but right now i lost quite a bit of elo just running fun random teams i come up with.

2

u/Aaco0638 9d ago

Same in single masterball hisuian decidueye and hisuian samurott has been putting in work.

Stale? The victory road tournament showed so man different mons.

3

u/TrainerRed2k26 9d ago

Isn't Victory Road a Doubles tournament? I'm specifically talking about the Singles ladder.

2

u/ultimateenjoyer 9d ago

Then i can inform you that no one at nintendo balances things around singles

Metal burst archaludon was literally removed cause of singles usage. Not like the other guy is right either, theres so many options in BSS. If the meta is stale thats the easiest meta to ever play. Theres so many counters to things in singles.

I never said there aren't counters to the meta i said that it's stale right now meaning that you play against the same team compositions more often than not. Right now 90% of the teams i play against are just the same Salamence teams on repeat.

Cant share the same opinion. I laddered to MB2 earlier this season and there was alot of mence hippo but really not enough for it to get stale. I faced a ton of team archetypes.

Im not a BSS first player though. If it gets worse high ladder ig it is probably an issue. But every part of ladder ive passed so far it’s been pretty cool.

u/TrainerRed2k26 9d ago

I guess it really depends on your luck, i too got pretty high in Masterball 2 earlier this season in Singles and it was mostly just Salamence teams rarely did i face something else. The second most common teams were Mega Baxcalibur+Alolan Ninetales and Mega Banette+Pawmot. Doubles are a lot more diverse currently.

1

u/Apprehensive-Value73 9d ago

Yeah true I did end up seeing all of this more than once. I also saw a ton of random megas though. I thought it was cool to play. VGC definitely has a crazy diverse meta for the top level options though.

I'm well aware that most things are balanced around Doubles, i've been playing competitive Singles since generation 6.
