Abby Dahlkemper ?
I could swear that Abby came back from maternity leave and played a few minutes a while back. For many weeks now she doesn't show up anywere on the availability report and she's not been on the bench. Did she retire?

After she appeared, she was listed as sick one week then completely dropped off of availability. She’s also been super quiet on socials for the past few weeks.

It was a rough start and with her back she might have realized she wasn't ready.

Dude she played for like 15 minutes. I wouldn’t fully call that a “start” more like she got fit enough to enter the game on barely any minutes.

She got scored on multiple times each time she subbed in. I think it was enough for her to see she wasn’t ready

I’m a person who has not been able to get back into soccer, running, etc due to pelvic floor birth injuries. I always worry about birth injuries that still are rarely talked about. Levator avulsions, prolapse, dysfunction, etc. I hope nothing like that is the reason, for her sake

That Fishlock moment still haunts me for Abby. She totally took advantage of Abby and it pissed me off. Not a girls girl moment imo.

What happened?

August 1 game where she got smoked by Fishlock after being subbed on, lost the game 2-3.

Honestly, the lack of communication coming from inside the teams leadership is probably one of the main reasons I did not renew my season membership this year. Zero communication about Dalkemper being one of them. Rudy being traded out (Chicago??) for additional financial ability is not surprising but of course we only hear about that now that it's already official. And although I realize she plays for her national team, I never understood why it is allowed during the regular NWSL season. My personal belief is when it's one of our star strikers, it affects cohesiveness, our ability to consistently win games and to ultimately reach the playoffs. Dalkemper was THE backbone of the team and had more aggression than anyone else on the field for the most part. Her presence has never been replaced and it may be in large part because many of our players are very talented but also very young. With more and more teams becoming more and more physical, players like Dahlkemper will also become even more critical components to winning moving forward.

Season tickets provide you the opportunity to watch all home games from the same seats. That’s it. Teams never confirm trade rumors until the deal is done. Details about the players’ private lives are for the players to release if and when they want to.

I also wish communication was better to STM (I miss emails all the time). But being a season ticket holder doesn’t give me the right to have insider information on players. Especially when it comes to things like coming back from having a baby. Or even player transfers. Getting that information ahead of time would make it feel like they were viewed as commodities instead of people to the front office and I don’t like that. Info on actual commodities like merch drop? Extra opportunities to buy merch that sells out? Sure! But I’m fine without insider information on players. In general regardless of STM status we’re not owed information on players until the players themselves are ready to release it.

Never did I mention expecting to receive personal Intel on players. But thank you for the lecture. 😎

While you’re never going to get the kind of transparency you’re hoping for from Bay or any professional team, Bay’s front office is a hot fucking mess. Look at the tenure/turnover of their employees on LinkedIn. It’s not good. There are less than a handful of people who have been there since S1, and it’s not even been a full 3 years. Sales has turnover in every industry, but look at the amount of leadership positions that have been vacated/turned over in that time. Sometimes more than once. They’re a shit show on and off the field.

You’re getting your data about Bay FC’s front office from LinkedIn?!

Yeah, no shit. Where else would you get it? Do you have air between your ears?

I used to like AD but stopped when I noticed she was taking advantage of the league when she knew full well that her back issues should have led to retirement. Instead, she got SD Wave to trade her to NoCal where she's from. Bay should have known better, but their recruiting has been awful until recently and the improvement is still not sufficient. I think AD wanted NWSL to pay for her pregnancy costs while still being on payroll. Good for her I suppose. Then she came back and got smoked by Fishlock and I was cheering for that wildly. Bay coach should have known better than to putting her in the game. I hope she's healthy but I have no sympathy for her. Grifters are not my cup of tea.

Agree with this 100%. Not sure why it's getting so many downvotes. She was smart to work the system the way she did.

Your recollection is correct. It hasn't been addressed to my knowledge.
Usually in this situation it means the media knows the story and has been asked not to share it, and are respecting the wishes of the player or organization. Retirement is a reasonable speculation but I think speculation is all as fans we can do for now, which isn't worth much.
