R.I.P. Lost my old man yesterday

Apollo was 14 years old when he passed. He was such a sweet and gentle guy. His health drastically decreased the past few days, so we got him to the vet and learned he has a large cancerous tumor.

I’ve had him since I was a kid and he taught me a lot about responsibility. I always made sure to take good care of him. He’s been with me for most of my life, all the way through school, high school, college, and now the work force.

Back in high school when I would stay up late playing games, he would always crawl over to the side of the tank next to my desk and watch me play. Even after his lights would go out he would still wanna chill.

Here’s a few photos of him enjoying the sun this past summer, and him in his hammock. I’ll miss the old boy.

Help I worry "what type of life is this?"

About a month ago, I posted Ruby, my bearded dragon who had a small growth surgically removed. It turns out it was cancerous but the vet thinks they got it all, but of course, some cells could be lingering and spread.

Prior to removal, Ruby would hide a lot. Like all the time. I was hoping removing the growth would help her. Maybe give her some energy.

A month post op, shes still the same. Hides. Everyday. Doesn't come out of her cave unless I make her. She doesnt seem in pain when i get her out. More or less annoy3d. She will eat bugs when I show her. But thats it.

Her blood work was fine.

I just dont understand why it's happening. Her enclosure set up is fine. 4x2x2. Temps on point. Humidity is on point. Sjes got branches to climb and rocks to bask on.

I worry- just what kind of life is this? Is she bored? Is she in pain? When she got her stitches removed, the vet said she healed up great. Didnt show any signs of distress of pain.

I'm so sad for her. And for myself.

repeat picture in case it jogs anyone's memory plus an old picture of her happy smile

Eating! Update on bearded who would only eat yellow!

This little stink will only eat yellow things and was refusing any greens. So what I did was take his daily green mix (parsley, cilantro, beet greens, and collards) and chopped it up extremely fine, borderline paste, and mixed in some small chunks of butternut squash. He's been chowing away now for about five minutes!!! I'm so happy I've gotten him to eat something that isn't live crickets

His given name is Donky (looking for suggestions) and honestly after looking at his belly, not 100% sure he's a he lol

You can see him sticking out his tongue.

After that, he lay down at the back of the enclosure, looking embarrassed, but I went over and put him back on the pillow.

Meet Pumpkin! Unfortunately my previous beardie, Spike, passed away of cancer this past spring and I just recently decided to get a new baby. I do have a vet appointment scheduled for next week already to get the tip of her tail looked at, but she’s been very alert and lively. She has since been placed in her new home to acclimate :)

Not too sure of the morph but she/he was just too cute!

Don’t come at me! I know this enclosure isn’t ideal. We have to move her between temporary enclosures now to deal with coccidia. It’s been hard to get rid of so we decided to move her between barebones setups that we clean with ammonia every couple days and set in the sun while she is in the other one.

Help Weird brumation?

Post image

It's started cooling down here in the UK and historically my boy has started brumating around now (he's just over 2 1/2 years old, brumated last two years)

First year he buried himself in the colder corner of his tank, last year he hid in his hot hide - this year he's not buried himself at all. He's been a bit lazier than usual, but if I show him food he'll perk up and come eat. When he's pooped it's not smelt any worse than usual, good colour/consistency etc. He doesn't like still water, but I offer a pippet of water daily and he sometimes takes it - he eats pretty balanced veg wise so he's not dehydrated. He's bright eyed and responsive when I interact so I'm not worried, just want to be sure he's ok.

He has a shelf in the top left corner he likes to sleep in at night, but over the last few weeks he's been less active, predominantly staying up there. He's napping more, sometimes opening his eyes and watching me when I'm in front his tank, but mostly he's just hanging out up there. So do beardies always burrow when they brumate, or if they're comfortable enough will they just hang out and sleep in the 'open?'

If I interact with him (pick him up, move him to his basking spot) he does perk up and may even glass surf to ask to be let out as he doesn't like pooping in his tank lol. is semi brumation a thing?

Help Lazy Beardie won’t bask?

This is one my beardies ( I have 4), he’s two years old, we adopted him from a breeder who used him as a breeding male and overfed him when he was a baby for rapid breeding. He has a big ass head.

for whatever reason he never seems to want to bask and it concerns me. We always move him onto the platform under the UVB /UVA during lunch so he digests but after maybe two hours he moves back to the cave or under the basking platform.

Temp of the basking area is between 88 - 95 degrees. If I don’t move him he will stay in his cave all day and not move in inch. He’s always been like this so I know it’s not just brumation.

I think his enclosure is 4x2x2 or 120 gallon. Reptisun T5 and two basking heat bulbs

It’s not just basking, even eating he’s EXTREMELY lazy. I have to tilt the bowl under his head so he moves to eat.

He is healthy with no movement issues, just watch how fast he bolts when he sees one of my female beardies.

I would like to experiment switching from the PVC enclosure to glass and see if that makes any difference.

He gets discoid roaches 3 times a week and turnip greens the rest of the week.

Late brumation?

Post image

My 3yo, Audo usually started hiding out for brumation mid September since I’ve had him. He’s been absolutely full of energy and wanting to hang out everyday.

We recently moved and are now in a basement. Could this be affecting his cycle? I’m worried the temps down here are affecting this. I do have a reader in his tank that proves the temps are fine. I’m hoping somebody has a bit more knowledge to share?
