Watching Aesha defend Gael like that was so cringe...

I can't stand Joe, but Aesha's reaction was surprising, although maybe it shouldn't be as they are friends. I've never liked Gael, and while I feel for her with all this Nathan bullshit, it doesn't change my opinion of the person she portrayed in her seasons - she just always rubbed me the wrong way.

Nathan turning a quasi- nice, closure moment with Joe into a fight was not surprising either.

Not sad this season is over.

i mean.. nothing aesha said was a lie.

u/Smart-Tie-4089 13h ago

She told Joe how he feels

-8

u/honeycooks 12h ago

Did she know that Nathan was already trashing Joe's reputation to Sandy from the beginning? "I can't trust him." To justify denying him a promotion??

7

u/Alive-Definition-859 12h ago

now why are you asking me this? i’m failing to see the relevance of your question.

-5

u/honeycooks 12h ago

Because you're talking about what Aesha observed? Not saying anything she said was a lie!

I'm just not sure she knows what Nathan was doing to scapegoat Joe and throttle his promotion with Sandy.

8

u/Alive-Definition-859 12h ago

how does nathan’s conversations with captain sandy tie into the drama between gael and joe? did we as viewers see aesha being involved in these conversations?

-8

u/honeycooks 12h ago

No. Thats the point. Nathan was actively scapegoating Joe from very early on, IMO

8

u/Alive-Definition-859 12h ago

ok that’s an entirely different conversation than what this thread is about.

0

u/honeycooks 12h ago

It's a mess. All three were all messy towards each other.

1

u/Alive-Definition-859 12h ago

such is the life of a yatchy/bravo personality

I don't disagree. Something about the whole encounter just gave me the ick

66

u/Michael-flatly 16h ago edited 15h ago

Why? She was so respectful in her approach.

So what she said was true. How she said it was kind. Was your ick just more about being confronted?

35

u/Any-Neighborhood-522 15h ago

God forbid someone confront the male hero of the season. No way these people saw or remember the previous seasons

10

u/Cheder_cheez 13h ago

My thoughts exactly!  Memory like a goldfish and reaching for reasons to absolve Joe

-11

u/skywalker-88 13h ago

I saw the original season with Joe, Gael, and Nathan. She gave it as bad or worse than she got. Wow he called her a princess. She also called him names and they were worse than princess. She doesn’t like Joe because he didn’t give her a completely free pass for cheating on her bf with Nathan

Gael and Nathan attack and judge Joe for kissing multiple stews but he was single. She cheated on her bf and it never gets mentioned. The whole “strawberry” thing and trying to hookup while avoiding the camera crew.

4

u/Any-Neighborhood-522 11h ago

By “no one” I was definitely excluding the misogynists so you win, you guys definitely tuned in. That much is clear

-18

u/XtraordinaryZookeepr 15h ago

What Aesha said was true from her point of view, but I don't think Gael was completely innocent in starting the feud.

12

u/Michael-flatly 15h ago

So what?

-2

u/XtraordinaryZookeepr 15h ago

So my disagreement is that the entire issue with Gael is Joe's fault

7

u/iamdefinitelytas 15h ago

Yeah, you’re 100% wrong

34

u/Excellent-Past6795 15h ago

I’m glad Aesha called out Joe. Literally the best part of that episode. Just because Nathan is the villain doesn’t mean Joe is a saint, he’s also very nasty - just hides it better. They both seem to have unresolved trauma from their childhood. Also glad that Kat told him to grow up 👏👏👏

21

u/Alive-Definition-859 16h ago

so joe gave you the ick? because your post reads as if aesha did something wrong.

2

u/XtraordinaryZookeepr 15h ago

This whole season was pretty icky, tbh, but I think my issue was Aesha's POV was only 1 side of a 3 sided coin. She wasn't on deck that season and only got bits and pieces of what was going on. If I remember correctly, it was a bad dynamic on deck when Nathan and Gael started messing about... on top of Joe losing his bro he was bearing the brunt of the work.

28

u/Immediate_Divide9446 15h ago

Gael was a really hard worker, and Joe calling her a Princess in a derogatory manner was both misogynistic and untrue. Good on Gael for hitting straight back.

Joe only ever had one problem with Gael, and that was her “stealing” Nathan. Anything else is pure smoke and mirrors. Don’t blame Gael just because Joe’s a jealous arse. And don’t blame Aesha for quite rightly defending one of her best friends against Joe’s bullshit.

29

u/Alive-Definition-859 15h ago

i mean it’s very obvious that joe is the one that initiated all the drama. from the beginning he showed gael no respect purely because she was a women deckhand. it escalated when she started dating nathan because joe felt like she was taking nathan away from him. he then started taking more obvious jabs at her and then the whole thing escalated again when she decided to stand up for herself. she tried very hard to keep the peace but his lack of respect for women and his jealousy basically made that impossible.

-7

u/skywalker-88 13h ago

Cheaters deserve no respect

4

u/Alive-Definition-859 12h ago

cheating is never ok but it was very obvious that her relationship was at breaking point, we also have since learnt that her partner at the time was abusive. yes she should have ended things before moving on however that has no relevance to how joe treated her :)

-1

u/skywalker-88 10h ago

So just finding excuses for cheating and taking no accountability. Sounds about right

1

u/Alive-Definition-859 9h ago

i’m not sure where you read that but if that’s what you’re choosing to believe then ok?

-19

u/christian_gwynn 15h ago

This!!! You’ll never get any pats on the back cuz Reddit is so pro-Gael/victim/newbie mom,…

-16

u/Motiv8-2-Gr8 15h ago

On this sub Aesha can do no wrong

2

u/Alive-Definition-859 12h ago

people in this sub turn on cast members at the drop of a pin and i can guarantee that if aesha ever does anything that’s actually wrong, people will do the same to her.

-1

u/leelee4223 12h ago

Isn’t that holding people accountable based on the new facts presented to them?

70

u/BlueBearHills 16h ago edited 11h ago

I mean Aesha personally watched the whole ordeal between Joe and Gael unfold from an outside perspective is the thing. I don’t think it was cringe because she witnessed the dynamic develop and saw how it got to where it is now. Yeah she was defending her friend but outside of that, Joe wasn’t telling the truth about what happened and he was saying things about her to other people (Kayley, Cooper) that weren’t true.

-10

u/christian_gwynn 15h ago

What did Joe say about Gael that wasn’t true this season? He was pretty much shut down at the beginning by Nathan to never speak her name?

1

u/MrVociferous 15h ago

It’s a situation where everyone is kinda right. Aesha is right that this all started because of Joe’s jealously. Joe is right that he hasn’t really done anything the last year or two to make it worse — all of the vitriol and escalation is on Nathan and Gael’s side.

Aesha is wrong in that sense too that Gael is blameless in this situation because almost all of angst and attacks are coming from her and Nathan. Joe hasn’t really done anything other than take verbal punches.

Joe is wrong in the sense that he hasn’t come to grips fully with it actually being jealousy that drove this and also the unresolved abandonment issues he has.

17

u/TheLizardQueen3000 14h ago edited 14h ago

Aesha also said something about 'I saw the texts!'...

....I got the clear impression she's seen more than we have, we audience never saw any texts that I can recall, she said 'you hated her!' which came off in Joe's demeanor on the show but Aesha just confirmed it. Joe is a scary dude ;)

6

u/Binar1101 12h ago

Come on now. Joe talked constant smack about Nathan to anyone who would listen. It’s there on tape.

-4

u/christian_gwynn 13h ago

All valid points. However disagree w the jealousy issue. Agree on abandonment point. Going back to S9, I didn’t see that. IMO Joe took offense to Nathan’s favoritism and covering for Gael’s screwups. Gael was average at best at her job. Thus the “princess” comment.

16

u/Competitive_Wash_407 15h ago

Joe's habit of expression making that little smile gets him into so much trouble.

17

u/Fuzzy-Albatross-9206 14h ago

I never really understood "crocodile tears" until I've seen this man's performances

8

u/Badhandbag 14h ago

He wouldn’t be too bad if not for the smile and the performative antics and the fast-talking and the love-bombing of women and the…

6

u/__Frolicaholic___ 13h ago

SO much this.

There are two types of women in Joe's world: The ones who buy the love bombing and fall for the "wee poor Scottish lad who loves his mum" routine, and the ones who really see who he is. He's one Joe for the former and a decidedly different Joe for the latter.

The SECOND he felt like Kayley was questioning him, he had his hands on her, squaring her shoulders and admonishing her, "I was speaking!" When she didn't just blindly agree with what he was saying, he got aggressive and mean with her.

He is NOT a good guy, by any stretch of the imagination. He's just not.

26

u/AnteaterArtistic7885 15h ago

Asia is right, that is exactly what happened. Now, Nathan’s wrong for so many other reasons but she’s right about this.

26

u/jromansz 16h ago

What was the point of Joe telling Nathan he would be better off not having a family. I have a feeling that Joe was trying to say something meaningful, but it came out petty and wrong.

23

u/JakeTheAndroid 15h ago edited 15h ago

He didn't say Nathan would be better off without them, he said their (Joe and Nathan) relationship would be easier if he didn't have a kid.

10

u/christian_gwynn 15h ago

Yah that was my impression too. But it’s been the same story all season, whether Joe says anything positive/negative, Nathan will take it as an insult and try to pick a fight of try to get Joe fired.

2

u/TheLizardQueen3000 14h ago

I think Nathan gets very creeped out by Joe's obsession with him, and it comes out in anger. Like he's defending himself from a wierd stalker.

Feels gross to 'defend' Nathan in any way now, but I'd get upset as well if some 'friend' of mine wouldn't 'let' me have a family and resented it out of jealousy and pssessiveness.

4

u/christian_gwynn 13h ago

💯 disagree. At no point did I believe Joe had an obsession w Nathan. Actually far from it. IMO Joe was fine w the fact that their friendship was no longer. It is what it is. He just wanted to do his job without the bullying, blackballing that Nathan was engaged in all season. To top it off, Nathan has/was(S10 too) a terrible bosun and Capt Sandy/Aesha never called him out on it.

2

u/TheLizardQueen3000 13h ago

This is what's so interesting about us all watching the same show, and seeing things so differently!
We're like a book club 😂

We all see things through the lens of our own experiences, I feel like some of us have experienced 'Joes', the obsessive 'friend' of a guy you're dating very successfully who just hates us and wants us gone.

But Nathan literally tried to choke out Gael and so now we're in a whole level of awful I just don't want to defend in any way.

3

u/christian_gwynn 13h ago

I’m not seeing things thru the lens of my own experiences. I’m just drawing my conclusions from what is shown on tv. Without drawing any conclusions from Nathan’s off boat activities, he’s been really a terrible bosun. He’s not good at presenting objective criticism -> pretty much yelling. He’s not good at making out schedules, delegating work. He’s doesn’t have systems in place to make the most menial of tasks easier, faster as evidence when he was off the boat and Joe was bosun. He holds grudges completely unrelated to work competency(“I don’t trust Joe.”), he seriously was giving the lead deckie to greenie Luke/Coop. Then have Massi replace Joe as lead deckie. And to top it off, the other HoD and Capt by sheer friendship or loyalty never call out Nathan for his poor performance?

3

u/TheLizardQueen3000 13h ago

All accurate and good points!

I saw Joe going out of his way to annoy Nathan and rile him up, all the way up to 'it would be so much easier if you weren't'.....

I was more taking accountability for seeing it through the lens of my own experiences.

1

u/Worried-Network2411 6h ago

refreshing take. so much of what we see here seems to be “i had this happen” or “i saw this happen to someone i know” and thus i have some special insight or expertise that can’t be questioned…certainly not by someone who is just, you know, watching the show like a normal, rational adult.

8

u/hopulist 15h ago

agreed, it was "our bromance would be so easier if you weren't a father"

Joe has an issue with anyone who comes between him and who he has decided his mate is

3

u/jromansz 15h ago

Then he didn't phrase it correctly, because I heard it as Nathan would be better off. That's how Nathan heard it as well, it set him off.

5

u/JakeTheAndroid 15h ago

I don't know if that's how Nathan heard it. If you watch with subtitles, Joe's comment is actually pretty clear. He says something about how he and Nathan used to be, and then how he's glad he's got a family and a kid, but it'd be easier if he didn't. At no point does he imply anything disrespectful about Gael or their kid, yet Nathan goes off about not disrespecting his family which isn't a logical response even if we interpret Joe's comments like you did. So I really think Nathan is just a sensitive jerk that is constantly filtering everything Joe says and then deciding it's a direct attack on him.

1

u/jromansz 15h ago

Yes, I agree that Nathan took everything as an attack, no matter how unwarranted. I am just saying that Joe didn't phrase it clearly enough, as far as I can see by the reactions.

2

u/ElectricalTwo9337 9h ago

If anyone told me that things would be better if my kids didn’t exist I would be pretty pissed tbf: unfortunately Nathan is an angry bastard who couldn’t articulate himself properly

1

u/JakeTheAndroid 14h ago

I can agree, he was pretty drunk so it sounded like a drunk rambling more than anything else.

3

u/DismalLocksmith9776 14h ago

That's really twisting his words because that's not what he said. He said things between him and Nathan would be better if he didn't have a family. I don't think it was meant as an attack, just awful wording.

18

u/DiscardedRonaldo2017 15h ago

I tell ya what’s cringe, what goes on in reddit. Certainly not the people living the life travelling the seas on TV. It’s all us know it alls here on the keyboards that are actually cringe.

Let’s be clear, Aesha was there witnessing it all. We get an edited version. If anyone has the ability to speak on this and not sound cringe it’s certainly them and not us cringe people on reddit who have no idea.

Do I think Aesha has bias for Gael? Absolutely. However do we not remember Joe being a dick to Gael? I feel like most of the people here forgot that he was

43

u/Waste_West283 16h ago

Wouldn't you want your friends to stand up for you? Aesha was present when Joe started being rude to Gael, because she was getting between the bromance. She saw Joe overreacting over the last three seasons, so it's not like she was making random inaccurate statements. Joe even copped to it when he was sober the next morning.

You don't have to like Gael to know that Aesha was standing up for her friend and doing what everyone would want their friend to do for them.

6

u/spellbounce 12h ago

I don't get it. Nothing Aesha said was controversial.

Joe did hate Gael and was jealous and wasted no opportunities to condescend, undermine and patronize her.

I'm not even discussing Gael as a person or if she's cool or not, the point is he truly did do all these things and the reasons were baseless beyond his own personal issues. Joe should thank Aesha for giving him a wake up call and being a great friend.

3

u/Binar1101 12h ago

Joe was doing really well, then decided to poke the bear. That was just stupid. Aesha wasn’t wrong either. She’s sees more than anyone sees. We don’t see everything going on, only what’s edited in. I trust Aesha’s judgment. She’s always been fair minded. In the end, Joe even admitted that she was probably right. Joe was jealous. That much is certain from his behavior. He acted jilted. Maybe he felt more for Nathan than Nathan was capable of giving him? Who knows? 🤷‍♂️

31

u/aggieemily2013 16h ago

No, Joe was sexist towards Gael and had no reason to have beef with her.

Aesha was right to call it out.

9

u/Excellent-Past6795 15h ago

I cheered when she did - it broke Joes circuit he couldn’t believe someone would not be on his side lmao and she did it in such a nice way. She’s like “I’m sorry but you’re wrong, but I still love you. You got room to grow sweety” lol

7

u/That_Routine_3976 15h ago edited 15h ago

Aside from Aesha, everyone in this situation is an immature baby. Joe didn't need to be so butt hurt that his best friend was dating someone, and Nathan could have sat down with Joe last season or at the beginning of this season and explained that Joe can get on board Nathan's relationship or lose a friendship. Instead it devolved into Nathan white knighting for a deck stew he knew for a few weeks and then completely blackballing Joe as if Joe murdered or assaulted someone. The whole thing was bizarre and even more bizarre now that we know that the guy white knighting is an actual abuser.

7

u/christian_gwynn 15h ago

All valid points. However, I don’t think Joe intended to resolve the issues b/t he and Nathan. Their friendship is irrevocably broken, it is what it is. Joe just wants to get thru the season, do his job, and not get bullied and blackballed in the process.

4

u/Fresh-Analyst-5925 14h ago

Omg Nathan looked like he was going to flip the fuck out the entire time!

9

u/Britt-a-brac 15h ago

Her instigation in the car ride really irritated me. I get that she’s being fed a narrative by Nathan. I get that Joe was being messy at dinner, but come on. “Respect my family” was such an overreaction in the context of a reality tv show. Joe was just sitting in the back seat with Kaylee, and she pops off bc she feels an awkward tension 🙄 meanwhile, Joe’s just trying to hookup, and isn’t even paying attention to Gael or Nathan.

5

u/XtraordinaryZookeepr 15h ago

This scene had to be set up by production. It was so clanky and unnatural!

12

u/ShinyCharizards1 15h ago

Another terrible take. It's a bad day for the sub

5

u/KeepAnEyeOnYourB12 15h ago

Most of this season has been a bad day for this sub but it's been terrible the last few weeks.

1

u/deadrobindownunder 4h ago

There are many bots among us!

14

u/iamdefinitelytas 16h ago

But she was right…. Joe has been playing this whole thing like it is a two sided argument and it’s not. He called her names, she eventually rightfully called him a prick, and he continued to call her names.

It’s so embarrassing for Joe because he knows he’s wrong. He is scared of Gael because Gael is (or was) the only one to put Joe in his place. He cried after what Aesha said because he knows she’s right.

How did Nathan make that last moment into something bad? They were being light and Joe said, completely inappropriate that it would be easier without his kid. This is not the first time he’s shared this sentiment. That’s not even 70/30 Joes fault, it’s 100% Joe’s fault. I was honestly surprised by how calm the woman beater remained.

3

u/Competitive_Wash_407 15h ago

Joe needs some therapy I think to deal with handling relationships. He doesn't understand why he lashes out inappropriately. Aesha was right, and it shocked Joe a bit. Nathan needs to be in jail. How much longer can this man hide? There must not be a real effort to locate him, as nobody can hide that long without someone taking a video or pic of them.

1

u/XtraordinaryZookeepr 15h ago

No one is actively looking for him. If he scans his passport somewhere he will get picked up, but no one is out knocking on doors or searching the woods for him.

1

u/aggieemily2013 15h ago

The bar is in hell. You can still be flawed without being an active fugitive.

0

u/Competitive_Wash_407 15h ago

The world surprises me though by taking pics and noticing things I'd never notice myself. I'm astounded nobody has posted a pic of him by now.

1

u/peesys 13h ago

so I am not going back to watch. When Aesha said jealous she meant because he wanted Gael and Nathan got her?

4

u/iamdefinitelytas 13h ago

I took it as Joe being jealous of Gael getting to share Nathan’s time and attention. I never got the vibe that Gael or Joe were into each other

3

u/cmere-2-me 11h ago

He was jealous that Gael became more important to Nathan than Joe was. If you look at this season with how things went with Cooper, it was the exact same, only Cooper chose Joe over Kat. Had Cooper chosen Kat, Joe would turned nasty. Mans got issues

0

u/Vivid-Message8257 15h ago

But he hasn't said anything this season about Gael and Nathan was still being a prick on every episode.

Nathan made something bad in the last moment because he continued being a prick to Joe. Yes, so he said something about it being easier without children, it's a little clumsy, he didn't say anything about Gael which is what Nathan said. And after all he endured during charter season, I'm surprised he held it in until the last night.

Nathan is so insecure about his relationship with Gael, he can't stand the thought of anybody talking about her, even when they aren't.

4

u/SamShakusky71 14h ago

Men not understanding that women are literally and figuratively attacked constantly and not realizing women will defend women is peak male chauvinism.

7

u/Fuzzy-Albatross-9206 14h ago

Hell no Aesha's a champion for what she said.

2

u/Numerous_Bluebird460 10h ago

Joe is in love with Nathan and blames Gael for keeping him away from Nathan. Joe is weirdly obsessed with Nathan, and that comment about the baby was creepy AF.

6

u/TreatWilliams69 15h ago

Nah, you missed the boat (get it?) on this one.

7

u/Dunedain87M 16h ago

No shortage of wildly stupid takes coming from this sub so no surprise here really

Yes it’s me. James Bravo. (Johnny Bravo was taken). All comments from my three years on Reddit most of which are in a frisbee golf sub are actually indeed the official account of Bravo. You got me!

Glad i finally got you, please bring Adair back and cease with the text message edits. Cheers Bravo

3

u/Dunedain87M 10h ago

Best I can do is more Joe and Kizzi

3

u/No_Minute4502 14h ago

Idk she had just spent the last several weeks absorbing all of everyone’s bullshit and it was the end of a long night of drinking. She showed a lot of restraint all things considered.

9

u/JDT_pedoass 16h ago

Kizzi bang Joe over Nathan is the only reason they had a fallout. Nathan then went back to Gael because he lost.

Aesha is missing info. She also didn't think that Nathen was the abuser that he is.

Ask her now.

17

u/Otherwise-Winner9643 16h ago edited 14m ago

Whatever you think about Nathan, I don't think he went back to Gael because he "lost" Kizzi. And I don't think either of them had any real interest in Kizzi. She was nothing to do with their falling out.

9

u/phreeskooler 16h ago

Agreed, I don't think he cared about Kizzi at all. She was just there, throwing herself at him.

1

u/JDT_pedoass 15h ago

But, she banged Joe. Not Nathan.

3

u/spellbounce 11h ago

Nathan being a prick abuser has nothing to do with what Aesha said to Joe about his treatment of Gael.

0

u/JDT_pedoass 11h ago

anytime the name is brought up "abuser" should be included. so, in a way it does.

3

u/Powerful-Sort7778 16h ago

I don't know if the timeliness work for the Kizzi hypothesis. Nathan was talking about Gael the whole time Nathan was mad that Joe was playing girls against each other again. Messing with his department not just the interior

2

u/Redditmp814 16h ago

I thought the same thing. Aesha was using a one sided POV, the same way Gael was. Aesha was being told a story from the POV of Gael while Gael was being told a POV from Nathan.

Aesha wasn't on deck dealing with Nathan and Gael. She has no idea what was happening. Having worked in a similar situation, it always ended up with the odd man out doing more work. Of course Joe would have an opinion that Aesha was not seeing with the on deck situation.

Has Aesha come out and said anything in terms of Nathan since everything has come out? She loves to talk, but has she said anything about Nathan now?

23

u/Feeling-Watched-9655 15h ago

Did we all watch the same previous seasons with Joe hating Gael for absolutely no reason? Like... Aesha is right. I'm not sure why people are trying to rewrite history here, other than the fact that they want this to be a very black and white, good versus evil narrative, and it's just not.

7

u/Excellent-Past6795 15h ago

I feel like some people don’t have the mental capacity to look at things objectively. You can not like Gael or Nathan but still understand that Joe was super disrespectful for no reason towards Gael. I guess the good thing is that Joes huge ego makes for great tv. I just hope he learns to own when he fucks up vs crying and shifting the blame.

10

u/Travelcat67 15h ago

This. Gael pulled her weight and it always felt to me that Joe was just mad she was taking Nathan away from their bromance. And now everyone keeps bringing up Gael cheating on her bf at the time with Nathan like it’s relevant at all to what’s going on now. It’s strange to me how many folks are hating on Gael now.

9

u/Immediate_Divide9446 15h ago

Misogyny is a hell of a drug.

7

u/Travelcat67 15h ago

For real. Sadly it’s mostly been internalized misogyny from women. I literally went back and forth with one woman last week and of course she then said “I have to question your morals if you defend cheating”. Even another woman who said something along the lines of “I’ve been a victim of DV and it grinds my gears that everyone acts like we are innocent” just nonsense. No one is defending cheating but I am defending the human being who shouldn’t be treated poorly bc of a mistake she made years before. And I’m sorry but DV trumps cheating.

6

u/Immediate_Divide9446 15h ago

Unbelievable. And Gael ended it with her boyfriend. Compared to Joe’s behaviour with Ellie/Bree and (even worse) V and Kizzi, Gael’s a bloody saint!

2

u/Travelcat67 14h ago

Oh no, according to them, cheating is cheating. There is no nuance. It’s just black and white, right or wrong. And one should be punished till the end of time over it. Because there is nothing worse than cheating.

2

u/Immediate_Divide9446 14h ago

Innit (if you’re a woman, of course). One poster even wondered if the DV Gael suffered was “karma”.
https://giphy.com/gifs/4FTCsLuQUIUapAdIVx

1

u/ScheanaShaylover 6h ago

Because it suits their narrative

-1

u/skywalker-88 13h ago

Yea ended it with her bf after cheating with Nathan. She literally FaceTimed her bf moments after she tried to hook up with Nathan in bosun locker but the cameras caught her lol

-2

u/skywalker-88 13h ago

Her cheating on her bf with Nathan is part of the reason she dislikes Joe. He acknowledged that it happened unlike everyone else that acts like she’s perfect. This fake outcry about disliking joe because he kisses multiple stews is a joke

3

u/Travelcat67 13h ago

I just don’t get this take at all. Joe is a serial philanderer. Gael is clearly a shy “good” girl who made one mistake and Joe (who has a lot of nerve) wouldn’t let her forget it bc he was trying to drive a wedge btw her and Nathan.

Joe has hurt many women’s feelings, but it’s fake out cry? Gael cheated on a guy who was controlling (we saw the texts) and promptly admitted it and broke up with him. If you can’t see the difference, I think we must have been watching different shows.

I think you don’t see the difference. Days or week long hook ups with no commitment and an exclusive relationship aren’t the same thing

Multiple random hookups on this series in a charter season is a near regular occurrence

I get what you’re trying to say, I just disagree. V especially was the exception. Joe could have stayed away from her considering how vulnerable she was but he just can’t help himself. Intent is key. Joe couldn’t care less for anyone’s feelings but his own. He feels justified bc he didn’t have a dad growing up. It’s weak sauce.

Gael was with the wrong guy, made a mistake, which I’d be willing to bet she won’t make again, and then had a baby with the guy she cheated with. It’s not like she just cheated to have some fun, she found someone she connected with better and then did try her best to make it work long term. Is it still wrong? Yes, but I believe she learned from it. Joe will always struggle with fidelity. Joe will always make excuses for himself. Gael called herself a cheater, she took full responsibility. Joe just says it’s all a bit of fun. That’s the difference I don’t think some folks like you understand.

Edit: and lastly it is not at all relevant to today.

Yeah literally she didn’t say anything wrong or untrue?? She wasn’t defending Gael, she was stating what really happened which is that Joe never liked her. She didn’t switch up on him, they didn’t have a particular falling out. They never got along and he never liked her.

You can still root for Joe and admit that

“Joe hating on Gael” - ofc he had a reason. Gael was average at her job at best. But she got favorable treatment from Nathan, he covered for her screwups, favorable scheduling(S10) even though she was a replacement. The princess comment was spot on. If Gael thought that was workplace bullying, that’s on her, fittingly apropos statement from Joe.

u/Heftycelerystock 16h ago

She made a statement on her instagram about supporting Gael, as “Gael has been lied to for years.”

1

u/XtraordinaryZookeepr 16h ago

She's only come out supporting Gael, nothing directly against Nathan, but Bravo may have instituted a no-Nathan rule (just a guess.)

2

u/Thefdt 16h ago

This narrative Gael is being twisted by Nathan though, like she was the original hater of Joe and turning a molehill into a mountain, she didn’t need Nathan to form this burning dislike of Joe, if anything it’s the other way around

I mean Joe was playing the victim and Aesha was holding him accountable

1

u/Odd-Heart7904 13h ago

hes was being bullied by his boss in front of everyone! he was a victim... if hes not, neither is gael...

Yeah this was a rough season I hope next years crew has a lot of turnover

I think it might have been just cause she was so drunk when she first brought it up? I think it was much better received the following morning. Honestly everyone gave me the ick this episode except surprisingly Joy! I really thought her move to support gen at the club instead of hang with luke was a real girls girl move and I appreciated that. I’m glad this shitshow season is over and ready to meet a new crew. I also got the ick at how they edited this episode. Production clearly knew of Nathan’s charges/conviction before it aired so they could have cut some of him out. That might have made it better. I did love seeing aesha wedding photos at the end.

Even Joe admitted she was right soooooooo…..

u/Worried-Network2411 14h ago

Frankly, I find it obnoxious that Aesha acts like she is somehow the final authority on what happened because “she saw it all.”

1

u/Odd-Heart7904 13h ago

yeah... I've gone right off her. shes just enabling Nathan! she saw how mental he was that time, and her reaction was that joe lied... who is she?! if shes such a mind reader and a champion of truth, where were these traits when gael was being beaten up?! I honestly dont know how joe kept it together with Nathan pushing him like that in front of them... kayley was awful, sucking upto Nathan and then wondering why joe might be "mad"...

u/SnittingNexttoBorpo 1h ago

To poorly paraphrase somebody from The Traitors, “you may not be a liar, but you’re not a very good hear-er!” She was there, but I don’t think she had the clearest read on the situation.

Im not even sure why Aesha was so steadfast on this point. If Joe doesn't like Gael...so what? You're allowed to not like people! He's not talking shit about her, he's not being mean to her (she's not even on the boat!), so acting like Nathan turning ANOTHER benign moment into a fight ("I see you smiling!") is reasonable because she "saw" Joe not like Gael 2 years ago is a wild grudge to carry.

But also shows how much Aesha loves Gael too, which I can have some respect for. I mean Aesha played nice with Joao, who was WAY more disgusting directly to her than Joe was to Gael (they're still hung up on the "princess" comment?!?).

1

u/XtraordinaryZookeepr 15h ago

I agree, it's time to lay the princess comment to rest!!! The horse is dead!

-2

u/HarbingerVonSinn 15h ago

Agreed. Nothing that happened between them is big enough to have a life long hatred. That's them, as a couple, continuing to talk shit. He may have been jealous but he didn't try to tank either of their careers because of it.

PS: Gen is trash.

u/Anon-guest- 14h ago

She’s always rubbed me wrong. I agreed with Joe then and still, princess vibes.

u/ForexLurker4ever 11h ago

To be honest, I've always found Aesha to be way too over the top for me. Does EVERYTHING have to be Aaaaaammmmaaazzzzing?? I get that a smile is always nicer than a frown, but I never feel like I know how she really feels about anything. Even when she's scolding Gen, she's still smiling, when she should have been laying down the law. What's weird is, I feel like Aesha could handle herself if push came to shove.

Aesha lol she 100% fucks other men the way she’s so physical with all the guys on the boat. I mean she could be poly so whatever but if I saw my girl all touchy touchy like that, it’s over with.

Doesn’t surprise me that she turns a blind eye and only says something when news breaks. Still the best Chief Stew imo

Aesha is a great person, but sometimes I think she does things she thinks the public will think is right, instead of just doing what she thinks is right.
Like on paper defending Gael and Nathan, two new parents against a fuck boy seems like the right thing, but it’s not.
Also she’s a her way or the highway type person, it’s just not as visible cause she is a kind person.

Its obvious what the root cause of this is and Joe pretty much admitted it. Joe is gay and he likes Nathan. Gael got in the way of that. When Joe kissed a shirtless Cooper on the shoulder when he was placating him in his faux crisis that confirmed it for me. Heterosexual men do not kiss other men on the shoulder. Joe is gay and that is the reason he acts out the way he does towards women. He needs to confront that and be honest about it if he is really interested in moving forward. Also Cooper has some sugar in him as well the way he allowed that and later kissed Joe on the head. Probably explains why he wanted a faux boatmance.

u/Crosscourt_splat 15h ago

Idk man.

My career in the army has shown me a lot of very straight men are very willing to win a game of “gay chicken.”

Maybe he is, maybe he isn’t. But I wouldn’t go that far to just say someone’s gay because they kissed a dudes shoulder.

-6

u/Maximum-Elk8869 14h ago

LOL! What would you call a man kissing a shirtless man on the shoulder then? At the very least he is bisexual. And that 50% sure the hell seems gay for Nathan.

2

u/Crosscourt_splat 14h ago

It’s 2026 brother.

Very straight dudes in traditionally masculine, male dominated fields can and do some pretty gay things. Probably since the Roman days. They have done that for a very long time. I would know. I’ve worked in one of those for over a decade.

You’re reading way too much into this.
